General

  • Leafy park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Family run for over 30 years
  • Pool, sauna, licensed shop and wildlife information room

Hide yourself away in the leafy dells of Forest Glade Holiday Park, within the serene and eye-wateringly lovely Blackdown Hills (the landscape here is so unique that it's been officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

This four-star site has been family run for more than 30 years, and it shows in the thoughtful touches that have been added to make sure visitors have a comfortable stay, from the parent and baby rooms to the ladies’ makeup corner.

After pounding their fellow guests into submission on the all-weather tennis court, holidaymakers can relax to the max in the free heated indoor pool and sauna, then stock up for an evening’s cook-in at the licensed shop, or grab a bite from the takeaway.

Mini campers are sorted too, with a paddling pool, adventure playground, games room, indoor soft play, and a designated area for ball games. Budding David Attenboroughs should check out the wildlife information room before heading off in search of local fauna on one of the forest walks around the park.

The pitch in Christmas tree field, enjoyed the surroundings playing in the forest and the play park. The facilities were not miles away and were clean could do with a bit of an update but this wouldn't put us off returning. Nice little shop and loved the little takeaway idea although did not actually try this. Nice little pool my son thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and did not want to leave.

    Disliked:

Only thing I disliked was a strange smell almost like sewers would come across now and again and it would be quite strong wasn't there our first day when weather was nice but next day it was quite strong maybe just the countryside. It wasn't there all day just would come in waves.

From the manager...

Thank you for reviewing our park. We are pleased that on the whole you enjoyed your stay with us. I am sorry that you experienced some strange smells. Being in the middle of the countryside we do have to store and treat all our own sewage but we do try to minimise smells.

Enough to keep the children occupied and the staff were all very friendly. Shop was very reasonablyoung priced and their brunchies were lovely.

    Disliked:

It was a shame the toilets, showers and washing up block were quite far from the field. I suffer with disability and often struggled when the block was with all the caravans that already have their own facilities. It would have been nice to have the block closer to those people in tents. The lighting in the men's shower block didn't work.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to accommodate customesr with mobility issues on pitches nearer to the facilities if we are made aware of any requirements prior to arrival. We are in the process of rebuilding the swimming pool changing rooms which serve as toilet and shower facilities and are nearer the camping field.

It was a peaceful site with lovely woodland walks. The pool was nice and clean. The staff were all really friendly.

    Disliked:

It would be nice to have changing rooms at the pool. However, I think this site is in the process of getting changing rooms refurbished as there was work going on.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are currently in the process of refurbishing the whole pool area and will have new changing rooms open later this year.

The site is well thought out. With lots of useful extras.Kind and friendly staff.
Shower cubicals with a separate dry seating space within the booth.
Really liked the order hot food setup they have. Well done Sharon for all your tasty food.
Some good rules to keep all their guests happy

    Disliked:

The getting to site as google maps has names of lanes. These are not signed at road junctions. Instead have cross roads signe posts named. If following old fashioned map could have set us up a little frought on arrival.
Equally getting back to the main 'A'roads not too clear. But once traveled earier easier to remember.

From the manager...

Thanks very much for your review. We really appreciate your comments, especially around hot food and rules as it's great to know when something is working right!
We have as many signs as Devon County Council will allow us and sadly named cross roads are rare in Devon. We do send out comprehensive directions with every booking and are available at the end of the phone should a guest need further help.

Went looking for peace and quiet and got it in spades! Great site, lovely position, fabulous walks, lovely indoor pool, shop sells most things. What more would you want? Can't wait to go again.

    Disliked:

Water pressure in caravan so low that heater wouldn't 'click in' most of the time, but that was the only fault.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback - we really appreciate and are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
We apologise for the lack of water pressure in the holiday caravan - it is something we have been working hard to improve.

The campsite is 5 miles from Junction 28 of the M5. Take the A373 towards Honiton and turn left just past the Keepers Cottage pub. We are 2.5 miles off the main road, at the top of the hill in the forest.

Touring caravans and large motorhomes must approach via our brown sign route from Honiton on the Dunkeswell road.

Local attractions

The scenery around Forest Glade obviously makes for awesome walking and cycling (you can hire bikes in Tiverton), but there are masses of other activities on offer nearby, from fly fishing to flying, and riding to gliding. Bon vivants will find a glut of cream teas, farmers’ markets and quality pubs and restaurants in the immediate area.

It’s easy to explore the wilds of both Exmoor and Dartmoor from here, or you can gaze your way along the spectacular Jurassic Coast (England’s first natural World Heritage Site). There are beaches at Sidmouth and Exmouth, but if the big yellow thing in the sky proves elusive, families can always go and drive diggers at Diggerland, play crazy golf at Pecorama, or take a heritage tram ride on the Seaton Tramway instead.
