General

  • Leafy park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Family run for over 30 years
  • Pool, sauna, licensed shop and wildlife information room

Hide yourself away in the leafy dells of Forest Glade Holiday Park, within the serene and eye-wateringly lovely Blackdown Hills (the landscape here is so unique that it's been officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

This four-star site has been family run for more than 30 years, and it shows in the thoughtful touches that have been added to make sure visitors have a comfortable stay, from the parent and baby rooms to the ladies’ makeup corner.

After pounding their fellow guests into submission on the all-weather tennis court, holidaymakers can relax to the max in the free heated indoor pool and sauna, then stock up for an evening’s cook-in at the licensed shop, or grab a bite from the takeaway.

Mini campers are sorted too, with a paddling pool, adventure playground, games room, indoor soft play, and a designated area for ball games. Budding David Attenboroughs should check out the wildlife information room before heading off in search of local fauna on one of the forest walks around the park.

Lovely location and site at fair prices - family friendly 08/04/2018

The location and facilities were great. The freshly baked products to order for the morning were delicious. We felt safe letting our child play. Everything was clean. The pitches were spacious. Lovely walks and woods to explore.

Mobile reception was good - we got several bars of 4G with EE so we did not need to buy Wifi. With this we were able to stream Netflix to the van's TV.

It was good that a route from the local town was provided as following a satnav would have taken us some horribly narrow roads.

    Disliked:

The rain made parking our van a little tricky as between the tarmac and the gravel pitches was very muddy. The swimming pool showers were broken due to frost damage - there was no hot showers. Both just bad luck really.

The one thing I'd suggest for improvement is to stock more local fresh or frozen produce. The shop only had milk and bacon in the fridge. I would have liked some local farm products like local eggs, sausages, steak, mince, burgers, cheeses, meats, etc. We had to go to Tesco.

The staff and the facilities were good, towed on and off the pitch because it was very wet ground! Nice swimming pool, lovely surroundings and plenty of opportunity for dog walking around in the woods surrounding the park. Games room and child’s play park were good.

    Disliked:

Toilets need upgrading before I’d consider returning to this site, pitches very small and need some attention.

    Disliked:

Welcomed was not the best we were told a member of there staff would move our caravan as ground was water logged never heard of that but gave the benefit of doubt but after 40 mins trying they asked my husband to move it. The toilets were out dated and a number of the toilets had mess wiped around the seat also in the mens which when my husband told a member of staff they said they would get to but use swimming pool loos. Indoor pool was ok but cold showers due to frost and pool water was so cold my children could not bear it. We couldnt take it anymore left a day early. Was told due to condition of the ground wood boards would be put down no shock no boards

The site sadly was a bit waterlogged not their fault, the wooded area in the summer I am sure is amazing.
We had snow so it made it look like a Christmas card.

    Disliked:

We booked because they had an indoor pool but sadly it was freezing cold in the water didn’t stay in long. Spoke to other people who said it was like it days later.
The road access even with instructions are no good in the dark while towing a caravan.
The elderly gent was a bit bruske with us when we arrived admittedly it was 21.05 but we rang 10 minutes before to warn we would be late, we had driven a long way in the dark and moody people at the beginning of the season is inexcusable, maybe at the end of the season perhaps.
We had to wait overnight by the reception which was fine because we had a hook up sadly the next day they forgot us until gone 11.00 am but on a plus note the lady owner gave us a refund for that night after us complaining about not being able to unpack properly.

Local attractions

The scenery around Forest Glade obviously makes for awesome walking and cycling (you can hire bikes in Tiverton), but there are masses of other activities on offer nearby, from fly fishing to flying, and riding to gliding. Bon vivants will find a glut of cream teas, farmers’ markets and quality pubs and restaurants in the immediate area.

It’s easy to explore the wilds of both Exmoor and Dartmoor from here, or you can gaze your way along the spectacular Jurassic Coast (England’s first natural World Heritage Site). There are beaches at Sidmouth and Exmouth, but if the big yellow thing in the sky proves elusive, families can always go and drive diggers at Diggerland, play crazy golf at Pecorama, or take a heritage tram ride on the Seaton Tramway instead.
