General

  • Family-run site on the Jurassic Coast
  • Private beach and secluded bay access for guests
  • Golf, free entertainment and pool complex with Jacuzzi and sauna

Cor. You'll have to eat your collective hats if lads and lasses of all sizes don’t find a mega amount of things to do at Ladram Bay Holiday Centre overlooking the Jurassic Coast – it’s billed as the holiday park with ‘something for everyone’ and has been heaped with tourist and environmental awards over the years. Having its own private beach and secluded bay probably helps too...

An adventure playground with giant pirate ship (aaaarrr) are just a few of the picks at this friendly family park; kids’ clubs will keep small lads and lasses entertained during the day, and the arcade with several sorts of games should see them additionally amused.

As should the megasaurus Jurassic-themed adventure golf course, which has large and lurking dinosaurs placed around it, and the new pool complex with interactive splash zone, slides and fountains, sauna, a Jacuzzi, steam room and gym. An indoor soft play area is available for children up to 12 – and, most thoughtfully – is right next door to the Pebbles restaurant so you can have a bite to eat while keeping an eye on your free-range offspring.

The soft play area and a plethora of other pastimes are all in the Three Rocks complex, which also has the amusement arcade, Waves Bar and Nightspot and Sky and BT sports on the big screen. Elsewhere, supplies are fully covered with the well-stocked supermarket, beach Seaview Shack, and the Coast Takeaway for essential holiday fish and chips.

Looking for even more to do? Ladram Bay Holiday Centre also has a wide programme of instructor-led activities for a reasonable extra charge, where grownups and kids can try their hands at raft building, sea scooters and body zorbing. Or have a day on the centre’s private beach, with watersports from the shore, rockpooling towards the far end and kayak, rowing boat or motorboat hire from the beach kiosk.

Ladram Bay has two coin-operated launderettes, both with washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing boards.

The campsite staff was very friendly, the washrooms were always very clean and well equipped. The showers were great and plenty of room to move around and put your things.
Site was located near a very beautiful bay so that was lovely and the view to wake up to was amazing.
The pitch was flat and we had plenty of room, we didn't feel like we were on top of each other it was well spaced between pitches.
I would definitely return to this Holiday Park

    Disliked:

The food in the restaurant was okay but could be improved on. We had the fish combo which consisted of fish and chips and the presentation was very basic, it would have been nice to have had a salad garnish.
The shop shut at 7pm - don't know if that is because it is low season - but felt that was quite early.

You have to pay for swimming every day which cost £15.00 per day with your vouchers for 1 adult and 3 children. So it cost 45.00 for a 3 day stay.. on all the other sites we have been on it’s included in the price.also no phone signal at all if your on 02 apart from by the bar at the bottom of the hill..

Staff were friendly and helpful, everywhere was clean even though the ground around the tent pitches was muddy n people would of had muddy shoes so it shows clean facilities is high on the list of job priorities.
The food was great in the restaurant and the stock in the shop had plenty of great value choice.
The views from the tent were spectacular.

    Disliked:

I feel that the swimming pool could do with being bigger, as even though it’s October so it’s very late in the season the pool was pretty crowded.
The WiFi was very poor in places, I wasn’t expecting full signal strength all across the site but even in the main buildings the WiFi was at best poor more often then not.

    Disliked:

Advertise yourself as dog friendly, but far from it. Had to pay for having dogs on site could not access any bars and restaurants or the beaches. A bit pointless really, should have dog friendly social areas other than sat outside when it’s cold and raining. Won’t be returning.

Local attractions

Once you’re ready to go off site – sometime around week two, probably – the South West Coast Path is steps away from Ladram Bay and has stellar walks to the seaside towns of Budleigh Salterton to the west and Sidmouth to the east.

Inland, the Budleigh Salterton to Otterton five-mile walk follows the banks of the River Otter; the Otter Valley Wildlife Walk is an easy stroll through the Lower Otter Valley nature reserve to look out for kingfishers and waders from the river’s viewing platforms and hides.

Twitchers can also head inland to the Exe Estuary RSPB reserve 13 miles away to see migratory birds or book a boat trip to spot avocets. The new Exe Estuary Trail is accessible from here too for those who prefer pedalling, with several other trails nearby including the old train track path between Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth, the Tarka Trail and Woodbury Common.

Kids tugging on your sleeve demanding more action-packed adventures? Family-friendly Devon has the Crealy Great Adventure Park, petting the animals at award-winning Pennywell Farm, go-karting at Raceworld and another theme park at Woodlands to keep them if not quiet then happy…the Ashbourne Adventure Centre and River Dart Adventure Park might finally tire them out too.

Spend at least a day in Exeter, 13 miles along the coast: historians can potter around Exeter Cathedral or visit the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, while little monkeys should like swinging about in the branches at Go Ape!, 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre. Exeter Racecourse has fixtures all year round and regular family events.

Along the coast, stop off in turn at Exmouth, Dawlish, Teignmouth and Paignton for days on the beach, watersports, more days out for the kids like Paignton Zoo – or go inland to canter around the beauty of Dartmoor, cycle the Granite Way Trail or walk with a llama – yup, really – across the moors.

Finally, if fishing’s your main hook, you won’t have far to go: many Ladram Bay guests fish from the park’s own cove, hiring a boat from the kiosk and going out to land mackerel for the barbie.
