General

  • Family-run site on the Jurassic Coast
  • Private beach and secluded bay access for guests
  • Golf, free entertainment and pool complex with jacuzzi and sauna

Cor. You'll have to eat your collective hats if lads and lasses of all sizes don’t find a mega amount of things to do at Ladram Bay Holiday Centre overlooking the Jurassic Coast – it’s billed as the holiday park with ‘something for everyone’ and has been heaped with tourist and environmental awards over the years. Having its own private beach and secluded bay probably helps too...

An adventure playground with giant pirate ship (aaaarrr) are just a few of the picks at this friendly family park; kids’ and teen clubs will keep small lads and lasses entertained during the day, and the arcade with several sorts of games should see them additionally amused.

As should the megasaurus Jurassic-themed adventure golf course, added in 2015, which has large and lurking dinosaurs placed around it, and the new pool complex with interactive splash zone, slides and fountains, sauna, a jacuzzi, steam room and gym. An indoor soft play area is available for children up to 12 – and, most thoughtfully – is right next door to the Pebbles Restaurant so you can have a bite to eat while keeping an eye on your free-range offspring.

The soft play area and a plethora of other pastimes are all in the Three Rocks complex, which also has the amusement arcade, Waves Bar and Nightspot and Sky and BT sports on the big screen. Elsewhere, supplies are fully covered with the well-stocked supermarket, beach Seaview Shack (renovated summer 2016) and the Coast Takeaway for essential holiday fish and chips. Pebbles Restaurant was fully refurbished – booths, decor and new menu – in 2015.

Looking for even more to do? Ladram Bay Holiday Centre also has a wide programme of instructor-led activities for a reasonable extra charge, where grown-ups and children alike can try their hands at raft building, sea scooters and body zorbing. Or have a day on the centre’s private beach, with watersports from the shore, rockpooling towards the far end and kayak, rowing boat or motorboat hire from the beach kiosk.

Ladram Bay also has two coin-operated launderettes, both with washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing boards.

Good quality site with excellent facilities

    Disliked:

Advertise yourself as dog friendly, but far from it. Had to pay for having dogs on site could not access any bars and restaurants or the beaches. A bit pointless really, should have dog friendly social areas other than sat outside when it’s cold and raining. Won’t be returning.

We arrived early but we were escorted to our gravel motor home pitch by a very friendly member of staff, the sea view from our ridges pitch was simply sensational!!.
Ladram Bay is an incredible place, the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, courteous and very efficient.
Everything was spotlessly clean ( at all times ), the food and choice of food was amazing and sitting down having a few drinks sat in the sun on the roof terrace watching the world go by was absolutely brilliant.
We had a fabulous August Bank holiday weekend and for a change, the weather was glorious too!!
We would like to say a massive thank you to the team at Ladram Bay who do a first class job and deliver way beyond any site we've visited so far!
In fact, I think we've managed to find the most idyllic place to stay and it seems pretty pointless going anywhere else after this trip!
We'll be booking our return visit to Ladram Bay within a couple of weeks and we can't wait to go back!
    Thanks again,
    James & Suzanne.

NOT DISLIKES - JUST HELPFUL TIPS FOR FUTURE GUESTS...

Please drive carefully through the lanes on your approach to Ladram Bay as they are narrow, especially in a 40ft motor home. My advice would be to take the B3178 into Ladram Bay and avoid the B3179 from Budleigh Salterton.

We had our dog with us but we knew he wouldn't be allowed on the beach before we left, there seem to be a lot of people moaning on their reviews that their dog wasn't allowed on the beach!!. There were plenty of places to walk him within the premises and even though he couldn't go to the beach, I don't think he was too upset about it. The coastal walks were very demanding but were more than made up for by the incredible views. If you are going to walk from Ladram Bay to Sidmouth, wear decent footwear, take plenty of water and when you reach the top of Peak Hill, stop and enjoy one of the most beautiful views that Devon has to offer.

The whole campsite was absolutely lovely, there was always something for the kids to do. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the entertainment staff were brilliant with kids and also adults.
The toilet blocks were kept immaculate and cleaned on a regular basis.
The views from the campsite were amazing and we touched lucky and got some hot days on the beach 😊
I would recommend this campsite to anyone with kids, young and old.

    Disliked:

There was no phone signal at all and the wifi in the restaurant and bar was quite poor

Our holiday was fantastic; started off with excellent checking in; super sea view spot, fantastic food at Pebbles. Stunning showers and toilet facilities, with a launderette (not over priced). The entertainer 'Ryan' was simply amazing - What a talent and super night. The seagulls were a pain and completely trashed our awning one day as we had left our bin my our plot.

The shop was not overly priced and well stocked.

Stunning scenery and beautiful work to Sidmouth.

    Disliked:

The Seagulls and weather as one day the rain did not stop (nothing that Ladrum could change)

Really enjoyed our stay, good clean site with excellent facilities. Great access to the pebble beach and a good location for exploring the Jurassic Coast.

Love the fact they take your caravan to the pitch for you from reception by tractor due to the sloping site being terraced.

    Disliked:

Not much to dislike, if I am over critical it would be that some of the lockers at the pool have locks missing and I cut my finger opening one. If they all had locks as they should it wouldn't of happened.

Restricted use of bikes and scooters due to the steep roads which is a shame for the kids although immediately outside our van was space enough and not restricted.

Friendly staff, organised welcome. Good clean toilet block. Good store on site. Clean site. Water point on pitch. Well maintained plots.

    Disliked:

Lack of cover from wind and rain for dog owners so any food purchased when cold within minutes which made us eat more off site in the evening. Why not like Sidmore and Exmouth pubs and restaurants have a tiled area within friendly dog policy. I personally feel your missing a trick here.

Children constantly running around outside area of restaurant causing numerous potential accidents for anyone carrying a drink or food from the bar when the play area is very clear.
Scooter and skate board rule totally egnored nor reinforced by staff.

Security - although needed and appreciated dressed like there para military in boots and black cargo pants covered in tattoos and chewing gum looks unprofessional and provoking compared to any other site I've visited.

Local attractions

Once you’re ready to go off site – sometime around week two, probably – the South West Coast Path is steps away from Ladram Bay and has stellar walks to the seaside towns of Budleigh Salterton to the west and Sidmouth to the east.

Inland, the Budleigh Salterton to Otterton five-mile walk follows the banks of the River Otter; the Otter Valley Wildlife Walk is an easy stroll through the Lower Otter Valley nature reserve to look out for kingfishers and waders from the river’s viewing platforms and hides.

Twitchers can also head inland to the Exe Estuary RSPB reserve 13 miles away to see migratory birds or book a boat trip to spot avocets. The new Exe Estuary Trail is accessible from here too for those who prefer pedalling, with several other trails nearby including the old train track path between Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth, the Tarka Trail and Woodbury Common.

Kids tugging on your sleeve demanding more action-packed adventures? Family-friendly Devon has the Crealy Great Adventure Park, petting the animals at award-winning Pennywell Farm, go-karting at Raceworld and another theme park at Woodlands to keep them if not quiet then happy…the Ashbourne Adventure Centre and River Dart Adventure Park might finally tire them out too.

Spend at least a day in Exeter, 13 miles along the coast: historians can potter around Exeter Cathedral or visit the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, while little monkeys should like swinging about in the branches at Go Ape!, 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre. Exeter Racecourse has fixtures all year round and regular family events.

Along the coast, stop off in turn at Exmouth, Dawlish, Teignmouth and Paignton for days on the beach, watersports, more days out for the kids like Paignton Zoo – or go inland to canter around the beauty of Dartmoor, cycle the Granite Way Trail or walk with a llama – yup, really – across the moors.

Finally, if fishing’s your main hook, you won’t have far to go: many Ladram Bay guests fish from the park’s own cove, hiring a boat from the kiosk and going out to land mackerel for the barbie.
