General

  • Among the Blackdown Hills seven miles from the Jurassic Coast
  • Covered pool and paddling pool
  • Bar and evening entertainment

For proximity to the sea without the higher prices of parks directly on the coast, take a look at Andrewshayes Caravan Park. Benefiting from the beauteous backdrop of the Blackdown Hills, this middling-sized sheltered site is only seven miles from the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, so the fossil beaches and seaside resorts are within easy reach.

Pull up a pew in the conservatory at the Ploughman’s Bar by the covered pool, where you can have a hot drink during the day from the machine or a drink from the bar in the evenings; there’s also a paddling pool for tadpoles. In the school hols, the bar lays on live singers and bingo at night (out of season, it’s open Fridays and Saturdays) and there’s a takeaway for those who want to put their feet up after a hard day’s relaxation.

Once the small fry have been fished out of the pool, there’s an adventure playground and games room to occupy them, plus a soft play area for anklebiters. Man’s best friend is welcome too, with good exercise areas on site.

Friendly receptionist, lovely bar staff, pool was just the right temperature and didn't get to busy. Loved the fairy lights on the trees on the pathway to shower block, should do them on all the small trees up, would look lovely. Starbucks just round corner from site. Great 4G reception in camp field. Peaceful location.

The play area was lovely and very close to our pitch also the playing field was great, I very nice feel around this site. Loved the use of the swimming pool as well.

    Disliked:

We didn't dislike anything really just a few recommendations to the park would b more lighting at night we were right near the play area but there was no lighting along pathways for toilets just one right next to the block, luckily the caravans all had their solar lights.
The kids bbq and disco was a bit disappointing as well no signs of bbq happening maybe had to ask? But no posters or signs (other than the piece of paper at check in) disco turned up the music and put a mirror ball on. My kids did love the kids bingo though and the prizes were perfect and we had a good night. We did use the the rally toilets a few times and they were not as clean as the block near us

Excellent facilities but muddy tent field. 20/08/2017

We stayed here for 2 nights in the tent field. We loved everything about the site. Everywhere was clean and kept tidy. The meals at the club were 5* and the swimming pool was beautiful and warm! Staff friendly.

    Disliked:

Unfortunately, the arcade games and snooker table in the games room weren't working. My main disappointment was the field where the tents have to pitch. It is very poor. It gets water logged easily and turns to mud. We literally had to pitch our tent on a patch of mud which i wasn't happy about. Cars were being towed off the site by tractor as it was so muddy. My advice is only camp here if you know the weather has and is going to be good.

toilet block was clean with plentiful showers and hot water!
    Pool was fun.
Staff were very very kind and helpful.

    Disliked:

Field is very sloped for non-electric camping in tents, and got undrivable when admittedly heavy rains (many of us had to be towed off).

Friendly staff, level electric hook up pitches for tent, hot showers with good water pressure, good location for tourist attractions but with very little Road noise

    Disliked:

Boggy tent field - multiple vehicles had to be towed out - really needs some sort of roadway in this field to resolve this problem. Expensive wifi

Local attractions

Close to the park, Shute Woods are a sweet spot for walks. Alternatively, guests can head to the dramatic South West Coastal Path, to forage for fossils at Charmouth beach, take in the views from the famous Cobb at Lyme Regis, which has sandy and pebbly beaches replete with rock pools, or have a stroll along Beer beach - followed by a well-earned pint, perhaps...

For family frolics, the Crealy Adventure Park has rollicking rides, there are miniature and model railways and crazy golf at Pecorama, and another track-based treat is the Seaton heritage tram, which trundles its way through two local nature reserves teeming with wading birds.

Other options include meeting the residents at Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary (free entry); the wildlife, forest activities, play barn and maze at Escot; cream teas and glorious English country gardens at Burrow Farm; or an outing to one of the various National Trust properties nearby.
