View towards Dartmoor

General

  • Six-acre farm site with spectacular views towards Dartmoor
  • Meet the farm animals and have a trailer or tractor ride
  • Bar and restaurant, toddlers' playroom and games room for older kids

Old MacDonald had a…Parkers Farm? Herd your fledglings here to meet Susie the miniature goat and the rest of the herd: ponies, lambs, guinea pigs, rabbits, pigs, ducks, chickens, sheep and cows all live on Parkers Farm Holiday Park, right in the middle of the south Devon countryside with quacking great views towards Dartmoor and a 12-mile drive from the coast. (Naturally, dogs are welcome too.)

Farm fans can milk their holiday for all it’s worth with trailer and tractor rides around the site and daily farm walks to meet, greet and feed the menagerie; safe play areas and six acres of fields are available for the kids and dogs to go free range at too. Off site, the farm is near a flock of other Devon animal attractions: Pennywell Farm, Paignton Zoo and meeting the ponies of Dartmoor are within a quick drive.

The Parker family have run the farm as a holiday park for over 60 years and know the ropes in keeping guests relaxed and a-moo-sed: Miss Piggy's bar and restaurant dishes up home-cooked and well-cooked meals as well as takeaway, and has evening entertainment from mid-July to the end of August. (Dogs are welcome in the bar’s Oak Room).

Next to the bar, a spacious play/TV room is for toddlers to let loose in and older kids have a games room with video games, pool tables and table tennis.

Guests also have access to the stacks of clean and up-to-date facilities: two tiled shower blocks with free hot showers, two big family rooms, well-equipped disabled facilities and a large area for washing up and prepping vegetables.

Other amenities include a shop open from Whitsun to mid-September, launderette and free ironing facilities, post box and public phone, battery charging and an ice pack service.

The site is fantastic from the moment we arrived a warm friendly welcome. We were shown to our pitch which was fully serviced nice size overlooking the moors.
The children get to feed Lambs chickens and even walk the sheep around the site where there are also pigs Alpacas goats they loved it. Gary looks after the animals and gets the children involved he made our children's week such a fantastic host.
The facilities were clean and really modern and the bar/clubhouse serves really great food and entertainment, again by Gary and his team.
Couldn't fault the site and is close enough to get to the beach in Torquay,Goodrington,Brixham and surrounding area.

Easy to find. Good sized clean pitches. Very clean toilets and showers. Nice to have the animals there for the children to see. The parks were well kept and lots for little ones to play on. Nice bar with a good amount of seating and lovely outdoor area. Although we didn't eat there the food looked yummy and excellent value.

    Disliked:

The noise from A38 but I should of checked location before booking. Don't let it put you off though as the positives out way the negatives.

The staff were very happy and pleasant. The lay out of the site was very nice as we were near the pony fields which had a great view over the moor and a play park was up there as well. Lots of play areas for children and it felt very safe. Our son loved it, walking the sheep, feeding the animals and the tractor ride. The toilet and shower blocks were kept very clean. If one block was closed for cleaning you could always use the other block. The food was great and things going on at night. Lovely stay.

    Disliked:

There was no club open for breakfast. Not a problem for us as we bought their bacon for cooking up. (Lovely bacon).

Local attractions

You might be all of a dither trying to decide which Devon attraction to visit first, as coast, country, active options and peaceful pursuits are all near Parkers Farm, whether you prefer off the beaten track or more famed areas like Dartmoor National Park.

Beaches first? Your pitch is a paltry 12 miles from the Devon coastline and the seaside towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. If you’d like to cram as much activity as possible into one area, Dartmoor National Park's your spot: start off with horse riding or pony trekking from one of the several stables (the park has different areas marked off for different levels of rider).

More urban(e)ly, Exeter, Newton Abbot and Ashburton are close to hand too if you fancy some shopping, a dip in Ashburton’s heated outdoor pool or a small flutter at Exeter Racecourse on the Haldon Hills.

Must see

  • Buckfast Abbey (3.3 miles)
  • Paignton Zoo Environmental Park (9.3 miles)
  • Living Coasts (9.9 miles)

National Trust

  • The Church House (5.2 miles)
  • Compton Castle (6.6 miles)
