General

  • Manicured pitches surrounded by greenery
  • Spotless amenities including power showers and wetsuit/drying area
  • Playground and dog-walking area

Small but perfectly formed, the Laurels Holiday Park offers manicured grassy pitches surrounded by pretty greenery and flowers to give guests a bit of extra privacy.

The essential facilities are impeccably maintained: there’s free hot water in the washing up area and power showers, plus hairdryers, a laundry with tumble dryer and free ironing kit, and a shared fridge and freezer. There’s even a special area for washing and drying wetsuits, which gets regular use given the excellent surfing and watersports nearby...

The Laurels has a small on-site shop stocking the essentials, ice creams, sweets and drinks. Sausages, bacon and eggs from the local butcher are stocked in peak season, and fresh bread, pastries and scones are delivered daily from a local bakery.

Pint-sized visitors can mess about on the boat in the playground, which is well-equipped with climbing frames, swings and a large trampoline, plus plenty of space for ball games. The site is also Fido-friendly, with a dedicated area for dogwalking.

Very quiet, very clean well maintained site, A good base if you want to visit the coast,

    Disliked:

Next to a very busy road, No where to walk due to road way very busy and no walkways.

From the manager...

Thankyou for this great review! Unfortunately we are on a main road and that is very clear when you book however if you had asked there are a few walking routes from the site (one does involve crossing the main road but i do this every day with my dog and its not a problem) there is also a pub within walking distance the directions of which are on the welcome and info board.
We are really pleased you found the site very clean, well maintained and quiet and appreciated our fantastic location in order to see alot of Cornwall!

I don't know where to start.
Our experience at this site was brilliant from start to finish.
This was our first camping trip (tent) together with our 2 little dogs and it was everything we could of wanted and more. All of the facilities were spotless and well kept. The areas for the dogs were secure and clean. The people who stayed at the site on a regular basis were all friendly and chatty. By the end of our 10 night stay here we have absolutely fell in love with camping! We will without a doubt return here.
The location of the site is right near a main route to a lot of the main tourering attractions which is perfect.

This was such a welcoming and friendly place to go.
I have already told my family to go here. We can't wait to return here.

    Disliked:

The fact we had to leave.

From the manager...

What a brilliant review - thankyou Lynsey! We are super happy to have made your first camping trip together such a success and that you found our site to be friendly and welcoming.
We hope to again welcome you both, the dogs and the rest of the family in the future!
Best Wishes

Well kept clean and tidy, friendly atmosphere and people within easy reach of padstow & Newquay. Toilet block clean, showers hot & powerful.

    Disliked:

Only niggling point and it is a small one, shelves in bathroom not wide enough, wash bag kept falling off. Although there was free wifi, could not get connected, but had 4g anyway.

From the manager...

A marvellous review of our site - Thank you!
The wifi password has recently been changed as we have had new routers and repeaters put in across the site. We have now updated all signage and info sheets to include the new password.
We will keep in mind about the shelving for when we do future improvements on the toilet blocks.
Hope to see you back again,
Best Wishes

Everything! The pitch size was generous, the wifi was free and fast, grounds are beautifully maintained, showers/toilets were lovely and clean not to mention the water pressure on the shower is amazing.
Despite being next to the road we still found it incredibly peaceful and relaxing.
It was really handy having the little shop for little things like milk, coffee and snacks etc. They even have mini bbqs, gas cylinders etc. If yoy need. You can aslo order from a menu for bread, pastries, pasties and clotted cream which comes the next day
2 little spots for the dogs to have run arounds which was also perfect.

There is a room next to the showers which has a fridge and 2 freezers which is really handy and also a washing machine & tumble dryer. In there you will also find loads of helpful tourist info including beaches & days out that are dog friendly.

We felt very welcome and the lovely people that run it could not be more friendly and helpful. We are already planning our next visit!

Immaculate site. Everything was perfect. The Managers on site could not have been more helpful. Thank you so much. We will be returning.

    Disliked:

Wifi was not good. We were on site for three days and I managed to get a connection once but for a limited period only. I was unable to access my emails or news pages unfortunately. This was no show stopper for us but I would suggest is a must for most folks these days. Our experience would have been better had we been able to get online to access tourist info about what was on in Cornwall during our stay.

From the manager...

We are so pleased that you had a great stay with us and thankyou so much for such a fantastic rating! The wifi problem you had is a bit baffling as we have just recently had new routers and repeaters put in across the site and have not had any problems - there has been a change to the wifi password so maybe that was the issue? We do not advertise as having wifi and hope it is a bonus to people when they arrive to be able to access it free of charge. We are however glad it did not affect your holiday too much and really hope you will stay with us again!

The site really is lovely. Very easy to find, very clean. It's a very pretty site and I/we loved the hedges around our pitch (golden grass pitch) for some natural shelter. I'm sure it all helped in the storms we had! The staff are all very friendly too, but its nice because you get left to it... The little dog enclosure was perfect for the dog too!

    Disliked:

The only thing we didn't get on very well with was how close to the road this site is, not for safety or anything - just purely for the traffic noise as its a main road. We live in a little village so we don't hear hardly any thing during the day/at night, so it was hard adjusting to this really. But once you were use to it, it wasn't too bad. Its just a shame the site isn't in the field behind or something because then it would be perfect! This wouldn't put us off coming for another weekend though!

From the manager...

Hi Connie,
Many thanks for your lovely review we are really pleased you had a great stay!
The road noise can be an issue for some people especially if you are not used to it, we would love to be a little further away but then we would run the risk of being too perfect! ;)
Hope to see you again,

Local attractions

The Laurels is two miles from the riverside market town of Wadebridge (the bus stops right outside the site), where guests will find good eating and shopping.

A little further up the road is Padstow, which has TV chef Rick Stein’s famously fabulous seafood restaurants and cookery school as well as some fine surfing beaches. Boardmasters can also find ripping fun at nearby Polzeath, and the world famous waves of Newquay are only 15 miles away.

Fans of the Doc Martin TV series should visit the nearby fishing village of Port Isaac to see the doc’s cottage and many other pretty 'Portwenn' locations.

This being Cornwall, there are oodles of interesting things to see and do - too many to list here, but to start you off: it’s only a short drive to the legendary Tintagel Castle, the fascinating biospheres of the Eden Project, or the fishing village of Boscastle.

Guests could also make a day trip to Lands End (perhaps combined with a walk around the attractive harbour town of Penzance), to the National Maritime Museum and dockyards at Falmouth, or to St. Ives, to explore the colourful harbour and art deco splendour of the Tate Gallery.
