General

  • Manicured pitches surrounded by greenery
  • Spotless amenities including power showers and wetsuit/drying area
  • Playground and dog-walking area

Small but perfectly formed, the Laurels Holiday Park offers manicured grassy pitches surrounded by pretty greenery and flowers to give guests a bit of extra privacy.

The essential facilities are impeccably maintained: there’s free hot water in the washing up area and power showers, plus hairdryers, a laundry with tumble dryer and free ironing kit, and a shared fridge and freezer. There’s even a special area for washing and drying wetsuits, which gets regular use given the excellent surfing and watersports nearby...

The Laurels has a small on-site shop stocking the essentials, ice creams, sweets and drinks. Sausages, bacon and eggs from the local butcher are stocked in peak season, and fresh bread, pastries and scones are delivered daily from a local bakery.

Pint-sized visitors can mess about on the boat in the playground, which is well-equipped with climbing frames, swings and a large trampoline, plus plenty of space for ball games. The site is also Fido-friendly, with a dedicated area for dogwalking.

From the manager...

Thankyou we are glad you found all our failities clean and the site pretty. We are only a small family business so it's just Jo and myself and 2 part time staff, as well as the campsite and facilities we have 4 holiday cottages to maintain also as well as the grounds we do not get enough business to warrent someone sat in the shop all day long - our opening times are clearly stated on the reception door and we also say to everyone if you would like something from the shop all you need to do is ask us and we will be happy to open for you.
Our shop is stocked in relation to the amount of guests on site, the space we have and the fact that there is a large Tesco 5 minutes away. It is just there to be handy in case people forget things or run out of milk etc.
We stock the essentials as well as fresh produce from the butchers, dairy and fresh bread ,pastries and pasty's are available to pre order.
Sorry you will not be back,
Best Wishes
Sarah

Lovely site, very clean facilities, level pitches 19/08/2017

Lovely little site, well kept by the staff. The toilets were always clean. 2 female showers and 2 male showers which were fab (plenty of water pressure). The family shower room was a little small but was usable. We didn't utilise the washing machines etc but looked very clean and tidy. My kids loved the play area. The site is well located for places to visit and places to eat. Thanks very much to the camper/caravanner that took down and rolled up our wind jammer that came unsecured in a storm.

    Disliked:

The map shows the site close to a road and it certainly is, the road noise was very apparent. I was woken every night by the traffic noise. You may experience less overnight noise in a caravan or camper van we were in a tent. We experienced a few down pours but was very glad we were on a gravel pitch as several of the grass pitches were water logged, maybe a little attention is needed on the drainage. My wife and others had to queue for a shower so there is a definite need for a third shower for the ladies.

From the manager...

Thankyou for your review of The Laurels we are really pleased you all had a great stay and found our facilities clean and tidy.
We have had 4 weeks of rainfall almost every single day (bar 3)! so i think any site would have some water logged pitches after the horrendous summer we have experienced! Unfortunately we are next to a main road which much as we would like we cannot change except sell ear plugs in our shop for anyone who is sensitive to the noise.
We are looking into extra showers for future development to the site.
Best Wishes

The Laurels is a perfect campsite!
We had an XL pitch, phoned ahead of arrival and managed to get on early.
Jo, Sarah and the team, maintain everything impeccably. From the pitches, boundaries, toilet / utility block cleanliness and play area. They all work tirelessly to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The campsite is very well organised with good powerful showers (at no extra cost),
2 freezers and 1 fridge to use, 1 large commercial washing machine (£4 a wash) and 1 large dryer (£1 a pop) indoor and outside covered wash up areas, 2 large rotary washing lines and a large soaking tank for wetsuits with a covered hanging area. Jo and Sarah are always available for help and advise or to lend something you may have forgotten.
WIFI is free, intermittent though which is why it's free.
The site is a very good base and Centeral to pretty much all of Cornwall.

Thank you for such a lovely 2 weeks. We would highly recommend the Laurels and hope to stay their again when we next camp in Cornwall.

Lovely site and really pleasant staff who catered for us even with a booking error. They ran a extension lead from another pitch so we could have electric. The shop is great and they sell some lovely honey flavoured sausages!! The kids play area is fab and safe. And I also liked the 9 till 9 opening so the kids return and your not chasing round finding them. Ideal location for traveling around Cornwall in general. If we come back it would be here

    Disliked:

The showers there are only 2 of each and it creates a foreign style of putting towels on the sun beds. But the pressure of them is unreal!!

From the manager...

Thanks Stefan for your great review. We are glad we were able to accommodate you and your family with electric despite the system error.
The sausages in the shop are delicious arn't they! Sometimes the showers get busy at peak times you just have to be strategic when planning one but im sure you would agree the pressure is worth an occassional small wait!
Hope to see you all back when in the area.

The BEST showers! Hot and they run for 3 minutes at a time, rather than switching off after seconds. We loved the notice board showing the names of the arriving parties and the pitches they are allocated to. This meant that we could pitch up quickly

    Disliked:

Not the fault of the site, but close to a main road. This is a great transit site. I wouldn't spend my holiday here, not for the price we paid. Immaculate site though.

From the manager...

Hi! Thanks for your lovely review of our site. We are sorry you would not come back because of the road - unfortunately we cannot change our location.
We are glad you enjoyed the very high standards of cleanliness and our amazing hot power showers!

There is some noise from the road but it does die down in the evening. So was not too much of a problem as everything else was great.

Local attractions

The Laurels is two miles from the riverside market town of Wadebridge (the bus stops right outside the site), where guests will find good eating and shopping.

A little further up the road is Padstow, which has TV chef Rick Stein’s famously fabulous seafood restaurants and cookery school as well as some fine surfing beaches. Boardmasters can also find ripping fun at nearby Polzeath, and the world famous waves of Newquay are only 15 miles away.

Fans of the Doc Martin TV series should visit the nearby fishing village of Port Isaac to see the doc’s cottage and many other pretty 'Portwenn' locations.

This being Cornwall, there are oodles of interesting things to see and do - too many to list here, but to start you off: it’s only a short drive to the legendary Tintagel Castle, the fascinating biospheres of the Eden Project, or the fishing village of Boscastle.

Guests could also make a day trip to Lands End (perhaps combined with a walk around the attractive harbour town of Penzance), to the National Maritime Museum and dockyards at Falmouth, or to St. Ives, to explore the colourful harbour and art deco splendour of the Tate Gallery.

Must see

  • Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park (2.5 miles)
