General

  • Family owned for several generations
  • In a valley between Truro and Falmouth
  • Immaculate amenities including disabled and family bathrooms

With a resident otter, owls, badgers, buzzards, woodpeckers and deer, Cosawes Park must rank as one of the prettiest spots in Cornwall, tucked into a valley between Truro and Falmouth, near the village of Perranarworthal.

Owned by the same family for several generations, it’s perfect for holidaymakers looking for a site with top-notch facilities but no unnecessary bells and whistles; there’s no noisy clubhouse or busy playground, just oodles and oodles of drop dead gorgeous Cornish countryside to explore. The site can also accommodate motorcyclists (but no hens or stags, please – peace rules here).

The immaculate ablutions block has toasty underfloor heating, plus separate disabled and family bathrooms. There’s a farm stall selling high quality local produce a five-minute walk away and several good foodie pubs nearby. The site also has super-fast wifi.

This is our second visit such a lovely site (shame it poured with rain through out) very clean and tidy . Lovely field across the road with the stream rolling through great for a picnic on a summers day. Sat in the evening listening to the owls hooting something you don't hear.
Very nice place to stay will be back next year (save us a space 😎)

If it's any consolation I too was on holiday when you visited us and had an equally wet somewhat challenging two week break!
Thank you very much for such generous and kind words. We will of course save you a space for next year :-)

Clean hot showers and facilities. Easy access to all Cornwall ... 27/08/2017

Clean hot showers and facilities. Easy access to all Cornwall has to offer, tucked in a valley out of the wind!

    Disliked:

You can't wash up until 8am as there is a caravan parked right next to the sinks. Frustrating if you like to get started early. There's a sign saying no bikes, scooters or roller skates etc except on the field across the road where the grass is too long to use them. There's a water treatment plant across the road next to the field that makes a lot of noise some of the time.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review.
Very sad to hear we didn't suit your requirements but take comfort that you would still recommend us to your friends.
I'd be interested to know what sounds came from the water treatment plant as I've never heard a peep from it in the 24 years I've lived on site! The local B&B cuts his fields quite regularly, sometimes into the early evening, so maybe it was that you heard. I'm also just wondering if you ventured far into the field opposite or just peered over the gate as we keep a very large area beside the River Kennall like a bowling green! Certainly short enough for bicycle riding if not scooters. We don't really have anything to respond to the washing up issue as it's just a courtesy thing that pots and pans are not bashing and clashing next to people who may still be sleeping. We don't feel that's unreasonable and if you were pitched alongside you'd probably appreciate such a request!
Anyway. We take your reasonably fair comments on the chin and look forward to welcoming your friends!

Pretty much everything! Such a lovely, quiet, clean site. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Shower blocks and toilet are clean and heated (so welcome after a windy day kayaking at Loe Beach!).
There's a nice walk to do over the road in the fields, with a stream running through - we spotted a few fish and some dragonflies whilst having a wander. The site is close to a bus route, and if you're driving then it won't take you long to get to Falmouth or Truro.
The wifi on the camping pitches is not great, but i can't put it as a dislike, because i didn't come camping to sit on my phone all day, so wasn't personally bothered.

Neither of us had been camping in many years, and we loved it. Thank you for helping to reignite an old passion! We'll be back the same time next year :)

    Disliked:

From the manager...

Oh gosh, we're so very happy to reignite the old camping passion!
Equally, we're most delighted that you took the time to share your happy experience of our little corner of Cornwall.
We did have some WiFi problems which we were late in being told about and rectified within the day they were reported to us. We would urge customers to report such problems, even if they think we're aware of them as we were not in this instance. A replacement antenna solved the issue and all is good to go now.
Thank you so much for your extremely kind and generous comments.

We were right on the edge of wi fi so not good for us.though not the end of the world The loud music from down the road 3rd night very loud which is not good when you have small children or like us had an 8 hr drive back home you need sleep for this distance and that's without road works. Children riding around on bikes parents should read the rules

From the manager...

So sorry for the music. You were not the only one to comment and regrettably somewhat beyond our control. Investigations seem to suggest it was coming from Stithians show ground 2.5 miles away where the steam fair was taking place last weekend. Situated as it is in an elevated position, if the wind is right (or wrong!) noise will travel to us down in the valley. This is not the first time we've been affected by events at the showground. Apologies anyway for the disturbance.
Indeed, I have asked our team to monitor the bicycle issue more closely too.
Otherwise we're very grateful for your very balanced and fair review and thank you sincerely for taking the time to review us. Very glad to hear you would still visit us again and look forward to welcoming you :-)

    Rather small site
    No shop
Absolutely no ball games, scooters, skate boards or bikes for younger children

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the trouble to review us. Sorry to hear you were not so keen on us!
Guess we have to take the not so good on the chin, though we do appreciate the opportunity to respond.
There is no such rule about ball games! Children may enjoy whatever ball games they choose as long as there are no broken windows!
Indeed we are a small site and for that reason we have no shop that could profitably operate (we have tried), though lots of nearby opportunities to buy groceries including a fresh supply of all the necessities a couple hundred meters away with Juliette's stall on the A39, or the post office in Ponsanooth (0.5 mile and walk-able)
Again, because we are small there is just not the space for children to safely ride bicycles and scooters without endangering themselves or irritating neighbouring campers. However, we do have two fields amounting to several acres opposite our site in which children are absolutely free to do whatever they want, within reason! One large section of which we keep mowed enabling many such activities. We only ask that they are accompanied by an adult.
We can only urge all customers to research any site before booking as none of your dislikes would've been a surprise had you researched ours. We emphasise our peace, quiet, policy on bicycles and very rural location very widely. Although we fully appreciate they are issues that are not good for you, they are music to many campers ears!
Thanks again for the review.

Local attractions

The southwest is stuffed with things to do – too many to list – and Cosawes Park is convenient for all the top attractions.

Many guests give into the temptations of the award-winning Eden Project, whose utopian greenhouse biomes transport visitors to tropical rainforests, Mediterranean olive groves and other exotic locations; other patches of paradise can be found at the various National Trust gardens nearby.

Slither down to the atmospheric Lizard peninsula for stunning coastal scenery and gorgeous little fishing villages. Head a little further and you can tick Land’s End off your list too; you’ll find a handful of decent attractions, shops and eateries clustered on the headland.

Otherwise, there are family theme parks aplenty; both Flambards and the Crealy Great Adventure Park come highly recommended. Kids will also love DairyLand Farm World, where they can make lots of furry friends, get to grips with the mini tractors and romp around the soft play zones, or Paradise Park wildlife sanctuary, which also has a great jungle barn indoor play centre.

Henry VIII had impeccable taste in picking out locations for his fortresses, and Pendennis Castle in Falmouth is no exception. It has fab views, impressive interactive exhibitions and a good tearoom (natch). Nearby, on the harbour front, is the Maritime Museum, where you can find out all about the seafaring heritage of Cornwall.

Finally, the area surrounding Cosawes Park is naturally blessed when it comes to outdoor pursuits: this section of coast has excellent sailing, as well as good walking and cycling in all directions. Try Bissoe Cycle for a good range of bikes and trailers for hire, and trails that run along converted tramroads and railway lines.
