General

  • Family owned for several generations
  • In a valley between Truro and Falmouth
  • Immaculate amenities including disabled and family bathrooms

With a resident otter, owls, badgers, buzzards, woodpeckers and deer, Cosawes Park must rank as one of the prettiest spots in Cornwall, tucked into a valley between Truro and Falmouth, near the village of Perranarworthal.

Owned by the same family for several generations, it’s perfect for holidaymakers looking for a site with top-notch facilities but no unnecessary bells and whistles; there’s no noisy clubhouse or busy playground, just oodles and oodles of drop dead gorgeous Cornish countryside to explore. The site can also accommodate motorcyclists (but no hens or stags, please – peace rules here).

The immaculate ablutions block has toasty underfloor heating, plus separate disabled and family bathrooms. There’s a farm stall selling high quality local produce a five-minute walk away and several good foodie pubs nearby. The site also has super-fast wifi.

From the manager...

We appreciate you taking the time to review us, very many thanks.
Just for others who may read this. It would be nice to have some non-personal pointers or constructive suggestions as to where improvements may be made, or reasons why you might mark us down in any particular area. I admit being a little confused by this review where our WiFi scores a 10/10, yet cleanliness 8/10 which 99.9% of our visitors mark as 10/10. Facilities/activities 6/10? Is that a measure of the amount of facilities or the quality of those we have?
Might I urge anyone taking the trouble to review anything do please quantify it with a comment or two.
Anyway, you say there's nothing you dislike and would happily visit us again. We look forward to welcoming you again and improving on our score!
Many thanks again.

A lovely, friendly and peaceful location just outside Truro. Great facilities and kept warm and very clean.
Sadly we had to leave earlier than intended due to the impending arrival of the beast from the east and storm Emma. Am glad we did but disappointed that we didn't get to see more of this part of Cornwall.

Great site just what we wanted. It was very wet so having hard standing and level pitches was appreciated. Our two dogs enjoyed their walks in the field opposite. I'm sure in better weather it would be lovely to spend more time there. The toilets, showers, etc were very clean and modern. The staff were very helpful especially as we wanted to catch a bus to Mawnan Smith. Would recommend people who enjoy walking to do that. Have a coffee or something in the Red Lion in Mawnan Smith then walk the coast path back to Falmouth and catch a bus back to Cosawes Park, a lovely day (my 65th too!)

Local attractions

The southwest is stuffed with things to do – too many to list – and Cosawes Park is convenient for all the top attractions.

Many guests give into the temptations of the award-winning Eden Project, whose utopian greenhouse biomes transport visitors to tropical rainforests, Mediterranean olive groves and other exotic locations; other patches of paradise can be found at the various National Trust gardens nearby.

Slither down to the atmospheric Lizard peninsula for stunning coastal scenery and gorgeous little fishing villages. Head a little further and you can tick Land’s End off your list too; you’ll find a handful of decent attractions, shops and eateries clustered on the headland.

Otherwise, there are family theme parks aplenty; both Flambards and the Crealy Great Adventure Park come highly recommended. Kids will also love DairyLand Farm World, where they can make lots of furry friends, get to grips with the mini tractors and romp around the soft play zones, or Paradise Park wildlife sanctuary, which also has a great jungle barn indoor play centre.

Henry VIII had impeccable taste in picking out locations for his fortresses, and Pendennis Castle in Falmouth is no exception. It has fab views, impressive interactive exhibitions and a good tearoom (natch). Nearby, on the harbour front, is the Maritime Museum, where you can find out all about the seafaring heritage of Cornwall.

Finally, the area surrounding Cosawes Park is naturally blessed when it comes to outdoor pursuits: this section of coast has excellent sailing, as well as good walking and cycling in all directions. Try Bissoe Cycle for a good range of bikes and trailers for hire, and trails that run along converted tramroads and railway lines.

Must see

  • National Maritime Museum Cornwall (4.3 miles)
  • Pendennis Castle (5.0 miles)
  • Truro Cathedral (5.7 miles)

  • Trelissick Garden (4.3 miles)
  • Cornish Mines and Engines (6.3 miles)
