General

  • Family owned for several generations
  • In a valley between Truro and Falmouth
  • Immaculate amenities including disabled and family bathrooms

With a resident otter, owls, badgers, buzzards, woodpeckers and deer, Cosawes Park must rank as one of the prettiest spots in Cornwall, tucked into a valley between Truro and Falmouth, near the village of Perranarworthal.

Owned by the same family for several generations, it’s perfect for holidaymakers looking for a site with top-notch facilities but no unnecessary bells and whistles; there’s no noisy clubhouse or busy playground, just oodles and oodles of drop dead gorgeous Cornish countryside to explore. The site can also accommodate motorcyclists (but no hens or stags, please – peace rules here).

The immaculate ablutions block has toasty underfloor heating, plus separate disabled and family bathrooms. There’s a farm stall selling high quality local produce a five-minute walk away and several good foodie pubs nearby. The site also has super-fast wifi.

We have stayed here three years running and cannot fault Cosawes at all.
The facilities are first class and kept spotlessly clean and not too far from the camping field. Wifi was never a problem for me, so now that it's free is great.

    Disliked:

I'm trying to think of a dislike but cannot think of one.
All I would say, is the steps from the facilities were a bit dark at night. They have added a small spot light at the foot of the steps from the camping field but can you add another light at the tops of the steps. It can be hard to see where the steps start when coming from the facilities. Not a criticism, just being constructive as you might not be aware of this.

Thank you so much for the time reviewing us. Particularly pleased too that we've resolved the Wi-fi issue which was such an issue to people in previous years.
Kind of you to comment.
Thank you.

showers, flat pitches, well laid out site

    Disliked:

Staff were efficient, but didn't give us the same sort of welcome as other sites during the holiday. Answered all questions helpfully, but didn't offer much information about the site or surrounding area.

It was a bit far out of town for us, with a very busy road to walk along to the nearest pub and there didn't seem to be much to do without driving, which we didn't really want to do in the motorhome.

From the manager...

Thank you sincerely for your review. Sorry to hear you had a few problems with our welcome and somewhat rural location! We appreciate your points fully. Without knowing when you arrived exactly, I guess we'll have to try to ensure everyone gets the same welcome irrespective. We do have an extremely comprehensive tourist information room and at busy times it can easier to refer customers there ... or maybe we didn't do that?
Anyway, we take your comments on board and thank you for taking the time to comment.

Nothing, great stay. I would mention that if you want power, just make sure you have a good length lead as the power sockets are about 6m from the pitches. Really nothing strange here though, just a note of advice!

I've stayed here many times since 1984 a while ago the site facilities went through a major upgrade and I'm pleased to see that the high standard is being maintained
The location is great with most attractions and shops within easy reach large supermarkets are near too which eases the going shopping necessity
The site it's self is well kept the whole place is meticulously preened
The staff were very helpful allowing me to change my pitch when I realised I could not get a satellite signal where I was
The site is on the outskirts of a static park which means that the site is quite busy with cars and vans coming and going although this doesn't seem to impact on the peace of the site although there is a drawback to this (see dislikes)

    Disliked:

The only problem I think this site has is the speed of the vehicles on the access road
Unfortunately these seem to be residents/visitors to the static site didn't see a camper speeding to my knowledge
The main offenders of this appeared to be the bus, contractors working on the site residents and in some cases the staff on quads
Main culprits were DHL vans and delivery vans in particular
Parked as I was in line with an access road it was particularly noticeable due to the road coming down the hill from the statics
now although this was an annoyance and a bit frightening at times I feel a parent with young children would be on edge to have to watch their children all the time in case they slipped away onto the road

From the manager...

Thank you so much for this detailed review and your very kind comments. Nice to know too that you've been a loyal customer all these years!

We have had an ongoing 'relationship' with the delivery company head offices about using our camping road. We actually request, almost monthly, that they do not when we have a perfectly adequate other route into the park avoiding campers. We also ask our residents to avoid the road during busy times too. I'm so pleased that I can now forward your comments as proof of what we're always saying! Thank you!!! We are therefore aware of this problem and is partly the reason we have to say no to wheeled children's activities (bikes, scooter etc) as it is a little too risky.

We very much take on board your comments and will once more try to seek remedy from these road users.

Local attractions

The southwest is stuffed with things to do – too many to list – and Cosawes Park is convenient for all the top attractions.

Many guests give into the temptations of the award-winning Eden Project, whose utopian greenhouse biomes transport visitors to tropical rainforests, Mediterranean olive groves and other exotic locations; other patches of paradise can be found at the various National Trust gardens nearby.

Slither down to the atmospheric Lizard peninsula for stunning coastal scenery and gorgeous little fishing villages. Head a little further and you can tick Land’s End off your list too; you’ll find a handful of decent attractions, shops and eateries clustered on the headland.

Otherwise, there are family theme parks aplenty; both Flambards and the Crealy Great Adventure Park come highly recommended. Kids will also love DairyLand Farm World, where they can make lots of furry friends, get to grips with the mini tractors and romp around the soft play zones, or Paradise Park wildlife sanctuary, which also has a great jungle barn indoor play centre.

Henry VIII had impeccable taste in picking out locations for his fortresses, and Pendennis Castle in Falmouth is no exception. It has fab views, impressive interactive exhibitions and a good tearoom (natch). Nearby, on the harbour front, is the Maritime Museum, where you can find out all about the seafaring heritage of Cornwall.

Finally, the area surrounding Cosawes Park is naturally blessed when it comes to outdoor pursuits: this section of coast has excellent sailing, as well as good walking and cycling in all directions. Try Bissoe Cycle for a good range of bikes and trailers for hire, and trails that run along converted tramroads and railway lines.
