  • Peaceful family-friendly site on the north Cornwall coast
  • Five minutes' drive to Tintagel village centre; Port Isaac 20 minutes
  • Spacious pitches with sea views; set on a working bird farm
Get your fill of spectacular sea views at Tintagel Duck Farm Campsite, a relaxed spot on the north Cornwall coast that's open to peace-seekers and families with kids aged six and above. It's a simple set-up here, with portable toilets and two hot outdoor showers available. Amenities like a standpipe for refilling water bottles and an electricity point for phone charging are also likely to come in handy. All of this is at the top of the farm, around 200 metres from the parking area. To be shown to your pitch or to enlist a bit of help lugging your gear uphill, talk to the owners and let them know when you're planning on arriving. As you may have guessed, this site is home to a bunch of friendly ducks, including unusual rare-breed varieties. Passing through in spring? You may find yourself pitching up close to lots of adorable ducklings. Other fowl like chickens and turkeys have also been thrown into the mix and are sure to keep you entertained at other times of year. All the animals here are free to roam and forage through the farm fields, so unfortunately dogs aren't able to stay on site. For dinner, you may well be able to swing by the food van, aka the duck truck – have a chat with your hosts for full opening hours. It's also easy to get into Tintagel (five minutes' drive) for further meal options. And for a tasty start to the morning? Add breakfasts to your booking and have a full English (with locally sourced meat and fresh farm eggs) delivered direct to your tent.

Liked: Nearly wild camping with minimal but very clean facilities including outdoor toilet with a breathtaking view of the Cornish coast! Gorgeous to wake up with the sounds of nature and the resident ducks and ponies each day. Very helpful on site owners. Bus stop at the entrance of the campsite to take you to nearby Tintagel or Boscastle. Also 15 minute walk to a gorgeous tidal beach. Highly recommend!

Liked: What a fantastic little campsite, located just a few minutes drive from Tintagel. We stayed for 2 nights and tried the delicious duck burger and dirty fries which was dropped off to our tent. We ate whilst watching the sunset. The site has a fantastic view of the town, sea and sunset, it is very peaceful. The facilities were cleaned twice a day and the hot outdoor shower was lovely, just a pound and were told we could take as much time as we liked. The site has a small parking area where the ducks and horses are located in their fenced yards. There is a path to the next field which is where the tents are, so you're not close to the animals and they weren't disruptive as they are put away at night. We had 2 very peaceful sleeps here. Tamara and Richard were welcoming and friendly and provided a wheelbarrow to help transport our things to the site, although it is just a 30 second walk from the car. We met their daughter too who was very knowledgeable and eager to help out with any questions we had :) Thanks for a great stay.

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: A fantastic location with stunning views. Pitches were well maintained and facilities, whilst as basic as advertised, were of a good standard. Site was supremely peaceful. Food from the Duck Truck was spectacular too!

Disliked: Signage from the road could have been more prominent to aid finding the entrance

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: What a lovely find. Duck Farm was a peaceful, private escape for a few days. Great location for a bit of sightseeing, Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude and a beach a few minutes drive away, Trebarwith Strand. The shower was great, and the portaloos clean. The owners were lovely and very helpful. The views from the pitches are gorgeous. The pitches are well spaced out so it felt very private. I would definitely recommend for a few days away, and particularly if you are a solo traveller as I felt very safe there.

Liked: The place i very peaceful, the owners are lovely and helpful.

Disliked: I would have killed for a wheelbarrow- there is distance from the car park to the pitches but nothing too severe- the owner offered to help us carrying the stuff to the pitch.

Local attractions

When starting out in the Tintagel area, earmark a good few hours to see the village's castle (10 minutes' drive) which, according to lore, was once home to King Arthur. If you find yourself waylaid by tea shops and pubs en route, you can easily undo the effect of unintended snacks by walking up to nearby scenic spots like Glebe Cliff, Barras Nose or the impressive Gallos Sculpture (all 10 minutes). Pottering around old fishing villages like Boscastle (15 minutes) or Port Isaac (20 minutes) could also be a worthy option – both have stacks of exceptionally good views and some of the best places to stop for food and drink on this part of the South West Coast Path. Inland, you could easily set out for a stretch on Bodmin Moor, the edge of which is around 15 minutes from base. Bring a map and find the path up to the Stripple Stones (30 minutes) if you'd like to see an ancient stone circle while you're at it.
