Numphra Downs Farm

Green camping on partly-cleared moorland (which is part of a heather regeneration project) in south-west Cornwall. The site overlooks the sea and is near the small town of St Just and Sennen beach. This is Wild West Penwith, so be prepared for all sorts of weather, wildlife and birds, and compost toilets. It's near a very minor road that wiggles from farm to farm for about three miles between St Just and Sennen.

We aim to keep our prices on the cheap side. There is a large, dry barn used as a communal space where you can socialise, read, or make music or a cup of tea on a wet day. The low-level climbing frame, trampolines or a game of football will keep the kids amused in the evening while you relax and watch the sun set over the western ocean.

Water is provided by a modern hand pump from a deep borehole - it's clean and very cold. We pass it through ceramic filtration to provide drinking water on site, and we have an unheated shower set up. There is a screened wash area and a sink. We also have a communal firepit and (if you stick some firewood under the tank!) a hot tub. The newer of the two compost toilets has a door, a roof and a seat.

The hot tub is free of charge but campers must provide their own firewood (available in bags from a shop about three miles down the road) and you have to fill it yourselves (with hand-pumped water from the borehole).
