St Ives Farm: Porthmeor Beach - St Ives Bay

General

  • Small, informal and friendly site with space and privacy
  • Woodland and field setting with individual campfire pits
  • In a rural and peaceful setting three miles from St Ives

Get down to St Ives Farm if you fancy good old-fashioned Cornish stays, on a small, rural and back-to-basics site where campfires blaze of an evening in a woodland and fields setting. This is a mighty friendly place where previous guests wax most lyrical about the amiable and helpful approach of owner Sarah and the site team: there's a reason why many come back year after year…

Toilets, a shower and a freshwater tap are available on site, but this place has a full old-school holiday vibe, and Sarah ensures a nicely informal feel for families and couples, accommodating only a small number of guests to avoid overcrowding and to ensure spacious pitches with plenty of privacy. Each accommodation area has its own designated campfire pit as well: campfire and Cornwall under the stars? Pass the cider.

Although this is a rural and peaceful site, the farm is a handy base for getting around Cornwall: it's only three miles from arty Cornwall centre St Ives and two from Carbis Bay's award-winning safe beach. Pass the paintbox and the surfboard…

Fantastically maintained pitches, the friendliest hosts ever. Great location with quick access to St. Ives, Penzance, Lands End.
Scenic location with opportunities for a bit of star gazing dependant on weather of course.
Stringent hygiene measures in place, to fight off any fears of Covid 19.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike at all, but a small sink for cutlery etc could be a bonus.

Thank you very much. We hope to see you in the future.

We were very looked after, we were given a pitch that was protected from the wind as there was a storm coming so our little one would hopefully sleep better. All the facilities were immaculately clean and cleaned very regularly. Nice level pitch and the owners were extremely accommodating and friendly. Even offered us there tent if we had any trouble with our tent.

The campsite was incredible peaceful, a few miles from St Ives. Given the unusual times Matt and Sarah had clearly gone to a lot of effort to ensure that the facilities were kept clean and we had no problem maintaining social distancing rules. The shower was clean and hot, water and waste disposal were well organised.
The pitch was level, grassy and relatively sheltered (we had some high winds). Matt kindly provided ice packs twice a day to keep my cocktails cold.
From the site there were a couple of decent pubs in easy (~30 min) walking distance, and an easy (on rural lanes) route through to get to St Michaels way for a hike over to St Michaels mount. Taxis were available locally.
I will happily return next year for a few days away from it all.
