General

  • Small informal site with space and privacy
  • Well placed for seeing Cornwall
  • In a rural and peaceful setting but only three miles from St Ives

Get down to St Ives Farm if you fancy good old-fashioned Cornish camping, on a small, rural and back to basics site where campfires blaze of an evening in a woodland and fields setting.

Toilets, a shower and a freshwater tap are available on site, but this is a wild camping place for trad campers: owner Sarah ensures a nicely informal feel for families and couples, accommodating only a small number of tents to avoid overcrowding and to ensure spacious pitches with plenty of privacy. Each pitch has its own designated campfire pit as well: campfire and Cornwall under the stars? Pass the cider.

Although this is a rural, peaceful site, the farm is a handy base for getting around Cornwall, and is only three miles from arty Cornwall centre St Ives and two from Carbis Bay's award-winning safe beach. Pass the paintbox and the surfboard.

Liked absolutely everything! Sarah was there to greet us after our ten hour car journey and immediately made us feel relaxed and at home. She gave us a choice of pitch, then talked us through the site, explained where the local amenities were and was a wealth of local info! She stayed on site and always made sure our needs were met. Genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met. The kids couldn't wait to get back to the site to let Sarah know what we had done that day! We were going to do the top end of Cornwall next year but after our stay we want to go back again next year and stay for even longer! Definitely recommend some very warm clothes for the evening as it does get very cold, I'll be digging the big coats and hats and scarves next time :-)

Best camping site I have stayed on by far, so family friendly and I cannot recommend it enough! The facilities were only basic as described, but they were much better than I was expecting. They were kept clean, tidy and well stocked throughout our stay. Lovely back to basics week away, even the kids didn't miss electricity!

The pitch is basic with only toilets, a hot shower and a cold drinking water tap, which is exactly what we wanted. Sarah doesn't overbook the field so you don't feel hemmed in and at the same time you get to recognise everyone on the field very quickly. Great for us with our kids running around and making friends with all the other children on the site. It felt very safe. Sarah was there to help at every occasion (including moving our tent after a stormy night where we got a bit water logged) and she also has fantastic knowledge of the local area. One day when we were travelling to another beautiful part of Cornwall, my husband commented that every campsite needs a Sarah! Which is totally true. She helped with parking, things to do on a rainy day, places to avoid....fantastic.
You are allowed to dig your own fire pits which is a massive bonus. Sarah keeps the toilets and shower spotlessly clean. Plus there is a lot of beautiful wildlife around that the kids loved (baby frogs! Rabbits, geese, horses).
We would highly recommend this campsite if you happy with meeting your basic needs and we will definitely be returning.

    Disliked:

    Nothing at all.

Great location for exploring Cornwall with St Ives close by. Very peaceful & nice to enjoy a weekend with friends chatting around an open fire, BBQ & bonus seeing shooting stars!

Had a brilliant stay here. If you looking for basic, laid back, quiet camping it's a must go. Never had the kids lie in so long at a campsite. Loved having the fire pit toasting marshmallows and bread twists in the evening. Sarah the owner is amazing. Alway available for anykind of help or advice. Toilets where kept very clean. Loved the shower shed, I'm 6" tall and I can just see out of the Roof. Loved looking over fields and trees whilst in the shower. Defiantly would come back to this site being so well centrally situated for everywhere. Also had a very good 4G phone signal on O2.

    Disliked:

No dislikes for the campsite. But I would say as a bit of advice if camping in southern cornwall is the area is very high and open. So for cooking and campfires I would recommend 2 windbreakers. In the campsite the wind swirls in different directions. Next doors cheap garden gazebo got damaged, all the propper camping ones where fine. Sarah let us choose our pitch and we picked the one along the main hedge due it it offering more protection. It's defiantly worth looking at the wind direction and forecast when picking your pitch.
