General

  • On the Roseland Peninsula, three miles from the gardens at Heligan
  • Spectacular sea views, all a short walk from the beach
  • Big pool, sun loungers, café with takeaway and shop with off-licence

Just look at that beach… Seaview Gorran Haven Holiday Park is at the start of the Roseland Peninsula on Cornwall's south coast, a short stroll from spectacular sands and in a stunningly scenic park, with colourful flowers, tall palm trees and views over the ocean and nearby Dodman Point.

Seaview is centrally set for heaps of attractions including the South West Coast Path, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project, about 20 minutes' walk from its nearest beach, easily reachable by foot. St Austell is the closest big town, about 20 minutes' drive away.

A heated outdoor pool and small paddling pool are among the excellently-kept modern facilities at Seaview, both with plenty of sun loungers alongside on the terrace. Kids have a play area with swings and slides, as well as loads of room to run around at the park's big games areas.

Eats, drinks and supplies are at the Sea Breeze Café with takeaway service, and at the shop with off-licence and Calor Gas. Barbecues are allowed, so fire one up, get the sausages frying, and settle back to watch the sunset sinking over the Cornish sea from your crackingly scenic pitch.

Slight issue with cluster flies, not sure what was going on but they kept appearing in the caravan

We loved the fact we had the campsite pretty much to ourselves for our stay and the facilities were easily accessible and clean at all times. Was easy to find with our sat nav and very close to a beautiful and quiet beach! The views across to the sea were lovely and the little shop was cheap and had all the amenities we needed.

    Disliked:

The soil was quite muddy and boggy when we arrived and we didn’t realise that we could park our car on the gravel opposite us, which meant we got a bit stuck in the mud! Would’ve also been nice to have some staff around to help us on Monday morning when we were hit with the hurricane winds, as it was quite difficult getting the tent down and a few of us were quite scared!

Pitch was very muddy but it was in October after a wet few weeks. Not site owners fault. Maybe better drainage could be put In. Plenty of walks and coastal paths.

The staff were friendly and the view is amazing to wake up to. The bathrooms were always lighted up and the grass well looked after.

    Disliked:

The amount of bugs in the bathroom maybe for Oct could just shut the windows as there was only two woman there at a time. I feel like with the ground you have. You could have spread us out a bit. We was in the same plot as three other people the noise from the children woke us up as they was playing on scooters we could have just been spread out instead of together. There was only three other groups. We didn't need to be neighbours.

Lots of facilities, close to beaches and the views. We also really liked the visiting pancake stall. The toilets were clean. LOVED the little on site shop, really reasonable and very friendly, hard working staff. We also really liked the play area and badminton pitches.

    Disliked:

The toilet roll was not refilled often enough and the toilet flushes often didn't work. Very noisy at night and first thing in the morning as pitches were so close together. Cost of washing machines was extortionate!!

Directions

From St Austell, take the B3273 towards Mevagissey for approximately three miles, at the top of the steep hill, turn right signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Seaview International. Follow this road and the brown signs to Seaview International.

Please note: If you are using a GPS or satnav device then do not carry straight on at the top of the hill as this will take you into the centre of Mevagissey where the streets are extremely narrow and often blocked. Please turn right at the top of the hill and your device should recalculate your route avoiding the centre of Mevagissey.

Local attractions

Seaview is close to the South West Coast Path – and sands – of Restormel, a top spot for cyclists and walkers, and among the coves, safe clean beaches and jaw-droppingly scenic coast of the beaut Roselands Peninsula. St Mawes and St Just are both within easy reach; access sailing, fishing boat hire and kayaking nearby at Mevagissey.

Famed Cornish options close by are the Lost Gardens of Heligan, three and a half miles away, and the big biomes and the tropical rainforest of the Eden Project, under 10. You could also take a boat trip along the Fal from Falmouth, pedal the Clay Trail for five miles from the Eden Project to Wheal Martyn, or venture determinedly forth for Cornwall's old castles and buildings, including the Caerhays Castle manor house a couple of miles from the site.

Kids will surely like the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, within a short drive at the port of Charlestown, and Flambards theme park and the Crealy Great Adventure Park about an hour by car. A football golf centre, indoor soft play and the Wingz bird and animal sanctuary are all a few minutes' drive from St Austell.

Regattas, carnivals and festivals run throughout Cornwall all year round; ask the Seaview team when you arrive what's going on locally during your hol.
