Cornish countryside all around

General

  • Small quiet luxury site in Cornwall 10 minutes' drive from St. Austell
  • A 15-minute drive from the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan
  • Pentewan beach and watersports/Charlestown sea fishing within 10 mins

Sandy beaches, surfing, cliff walks, world-renowned spots like the Eden Project 15 minutes' drive away... no, you're not dreaming. The Dream Pods At Bobby’s Lodge are quite simply in a top location, handy for whatever you want to get up to in this fab corner of Cornwall.

It’s not just about geography though: the team (should that be the Dream Team?) behind this small site 10 minutes’ drive from St Austell and the sea have worked hard to create a base that’s comfortable and relaxing. It’s a peaceful place, with a pair of friendly horses in the next field and birds in the trees all around.

As the sun sets you can grill up a feast on a barbecue on your outside terrace, or hunker down cosy inside; you won’t miss anything, thanks to the big windows. A separate bathroom with a pumping hot shower and a kitchen kitted out with fridge, toaster and microwave make keeping spruce and keeping fed/watered all so easy too... you might have to pinch yourself every now and then…

Lovely quiet location, plenty of privacy, host was really helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Pod we stayed in was clean, and stocked with everything you need. We sat outside and used the fire pit in the evening which was wonderful. We took our camping stove to sit outside and cook breakfast in the morning. Fabulous local beaches and places to visit very close by. All round fantastic place to stay!!

I liked the peace and quiet and the upgrade from a tent. It was an ideal base to see Cornwall and the owners were welcoming and friendly. Ideal for a couple of any age. Enjoyed sitting out keeping warm by the fire pit.
Clean and tidy. We took a camping stove as there is no kitchen, so enjoyed bacon sandwiches in the morning.
    Would stay again.

Everything was amazing. We loved how spacious the pod was. We weren't expecting too much in the way of the shower but it was brilliant! We were really pleased with everything about our stay. From the comfy double bed to the fire pit outside the front of the pod. The host was really friendly and sorted everything for us. We will definitely be coming back! We only stayed for 2 nights but wished we never had to leave. 10/10 would recommend.

From the manager...

Responding to your review as we are in Cornwall and we are on the moors. I would have thought you would have known it would be out the way but some people prefer it that way, Value of money. I think we are very competitive as everything is included such as towels, bed made up etc... accommodation is as advertised and we do our utmost to make it a comfortable stay, facilities as it is a camping holiday. I think the facilities are what you would expect and more, Customer service on arrival. I gave you guests a warm welcome and information you required, Child friendliness. I don't see this as an issue as you had none, last but not least our pods are each cleaned top to bottom and would like to know why we only rated 8 on this. Thank you for our review and hope you enjoyed your stay. Tina Roberts.

Local attractions

With the coast so close, you’ll want to get down there as soon as you can. It’s a 10-minute drive to Pentewan for canoeing, kayaking, surfing and other sea-based sporting stuff; you can also hire bikes here to explore the coast or join up with the 630-mile South West Coast Path.

If you haven’t got a few weeks spare to do the whole lot, try the stretch heading east around the wild and windswept Polperro Heritage Coast, finishing up with a swim on the sheltered beach at Readymoney Cove and a wander round the ruins of 16th-century St. Catherine’s Castle (half an hour from the site). And if fishing’s your thing, your nets runneth over round here with well-stocked lakes at Hewas Water and sea charters from Mevagissey, 10 and 20 minutes away.

Mevagissey makes a mighty fine day trip destination, with a model railway, aquarium, museum and ferry boat rides round the coast to Fowey. There’s more maritime history to be had in Charlestown (five minutes) with its old harbour and a spread of salvaged curios in its Shipwreck and Heritage Centre.

It’s 15 minutes to the indoor rainforest biomes of the Eden Project and the outdoor magic of the Lost Gardens of Heligan, major attractions so close to the site you could visit them twice… or more.

Must see
