General

  • Wonderful views over the surrounding countryside
  • Onsite fishing pond
  • Dog-friendly campsite

There are reasons a-plenty why many guests at the popular Court Farm and Camping Holidays near St Austell in Cornwall plot their return before they’ve even left: the site is in cracking Cornish countryside with the county’s most famous attractions only a few miles away, and you’ll get probably the friendliest welcome anywhere from Bill, Simon and the team.

The family have been on this farm for generations, so recommending days out for guests is a doddle to the Court Farm lot, who can let you know the best pubs, best beaches and best things to do for miles around; if you look confuddled, they’ll even draw you a map.

The Court Farm pitches are popular with guests too: level, well-drained, generously sized and set on the edges of the camping fields with plenty of room left for the kids to run about. Or take the shrimps to land some slippery catches big and small at the Court Farm fishing lake, where even tiddlers usually manage to land some of the smaller carp, perch, tench, roach or rudd.

Other favoured facilities include free temperature-controlled showers with a baby bath and changing mat area, hot water provided in the dishwashing area, freezer facility and a launderette. Electric hookup is available on 20 pitches and wifi is available.

Dogs will get a warm welcome at Court Farm too, but please keep them on leads and away from the horses.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

  • Liked:

Clean and roomy showers and toilets, with good washing up facilities and two big fridges and chest freezer. Electric hook up was a bonus for us this time round and didn't add to much more to the cost of the pitch which was great.

    Disliked:

Was on a slight slope which was only really noticeable once on the air bed. Nothing on site, and no shops really close by.

Nice clean facilities, good sized pitches.
Fridge and freezer a nice touch as many charge for this at other sites.
Friendly team who are pretty relaxed and fishing lake is beautiful - husband tells me its good too!

    Disliked:

Sloping ground unfortunately meant that the heavy rain ran through our tent, between the groundsheet and the footprint making it squidgy underfoot. But if you are on the level it would not have been such an issue!
We cut our holiday short due to bad weather (But it is September and England- so camping was always a gamble!) 😀

Well spaced pitches around the outside edge of a short cut grass field. Most pitches level with electric supply hookups.Facilities basins and showers always hot water cleaned regularly throughout the day. Wash up room with stainless sinks and plenty of hot water with a friendly chat with fellow campers. Nice touch is to be able to put your food in a box or bag in a fridge and freezer till needed.
Good location close to both coast lines and places of interest in easy reach.

Countryside views, large pitches, open space in centre for children to play, good shower block, fridge and freezer available for use, informal and relaxed management, lots of bins and water points, free wifi, low light pollution meant an amazing view of the night sky. Perfect location for visiting north and south coasts. Great value for money.

    Disliked:

Some noise from fast vehicles if placed next to hedge by the road even though it was a minor country road, not sure of shop opening times. These were minor points.

Directions

From Exeter

Get on to the A30. Keep on the A30 all the way until you see the exit sign for 'Indian Queens'; wake up – it’s the next exit – signed 'Fraddon & Grampound Road' (there is a McDonalds at the exit).

Take the right option to Grampound Road. At the next crossroads, turn left to (St Stephen) St Austell.

Keep on same road, pass through the village of St Stephen (pink road at the crossroads), down and past the Peugeot garage. Slow…

On your right, on the bend, is a wide turning signed St Stephen Coombe, Hay Langerth and industrial site. Turn up there. 400 yards up there you will see white cottages on your left: slow down!

Court Farm entrance is on your right, opposite the white cottages. You won’t see it until you are upon it - so be slow!

Turn down into the drive – follow the 'All traffic this way' sign. Park in the campsite and come to the reception. Please ring when you exit the A30 using the number in your confirmation email.

Look forward to seeing you. Simon, Lisa, Bill and Ann

Local attractions

No road rage here: Court Farm is slap bang in the middle of Cornish attraction country, with most of Cornwall’s best known places within 20 minutes’ drive of your pitch.

Four miles away, the town of St Austell and its surroundings are the hub for many attractions and activities: the Clay Trail starts from here and the Wheal Martyn China Clay Country Park takes a look at Cornwall’s famous china clay heritage.

Then to the beach for the sand and coves of St Austell Bay: look to the east for Gribben Head, part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with the South Coast Path passing around it on its way to Poole (handy hint: that’s a long walk). Thirsty? Head for St Austell’s award-winning brewery for a well-earned tipple; you can buy a ‘Passport to Beer’ book here too telling the tasty tale of beer in the area.

The sheltered hidden beach of Polkerris is ten miles away from Court Farm (you might need to ask Bill or Simon for detailed directions as they say it’s down a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ turning). Bag some windsurfing and sailing courses here, have an ice cream at the beach café or munch a meal with a view at the Rashleigh Inn. From Polkerris it’s only a couple of miles to Fowey with its family beach at Readymoney Cove.

Inland six miles away from Court Farm there’s the Eden Project with its famous biomes and plants from all over the world; the Lost Gardens of Heligan is also six miles away and we are firmly recommending a visit there even if you don’t ‘do’ gardens. If you do, huzzah, because there are acres more of them all around: Pinetum Park and Pine Lodge Gardens and Caerhays Gardens are closest at St Austell, with Lanhydrock just down the road at Bodmin overlooking the Fowey valley.

Ever so slightly further afield, Newquay and Bodmin are both about 12 miles away and all over Cornwall there are historic houses, theme parks, museums, farm parks…ask the farm team for recommendations or just take to the road and see where it takes you – via Cornish cream teas and more beaches, naturally…
