  • Pitches overlooking the 275-acre Stithians Lake
  • Fishing, sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and lots more to try
  • Playground, lakeside trails, bird hide, café and refreshment kiosk
Get along to Stithians Lake Campsite for watersports, scenic waterside views and loads of room all around: pitches at this family-friendly activities site look out over 275-acre Stithians Lake. The range of activities on offer at Stithians Lake Campsite makes the site excellent for groups: fly fishers can cast from boat or bank for sizeable brown and rainbow trout (Environment Agency rod licences are required for over 12s and you'll need to apply for these beforehand). Visitors can also try out a wide range of watersports with the help of the qualified instructors at the Outdoor Active centre: windsurfing, sailing, rowing, kayaking and water zorbing are all on offer... feel free to bring your own kit or rent it on site. There’s loads of space around the site for family games and picnics too, as well as a pirate-themed playground, walking trails around the lake and a bird hide for twitchers. Rid yourselves of the rumbles at the on-site café and refreshment kiosk, or have some of the homemade specials on the menu at the Golden Lion pub, 100 yards away. The shower and toilet facilities are a short walk from the campsite. Guests have access to individual washrooms with a toilet, shower and sink. These facilities are separate to the watersports centre where further toilets, showers and changing facilities can be found. Stithians village is within easy reach of the site to stock up on supplies.

Oppie bell tent

Liked: Overall we had a very good experience. This was our first time here and first time trying glamping. From our bell tent - Oppie - we had beautiful views over the lake, and the kitchen appliances we booked everything we needed for our 5-night stay. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the greatest but the bed in the rent was comfortable and we brought lots of extra blankets so we were warm. Facilities around the camp site are good, great coffee at the Cafe. We didn’t try any of the water activities but we plan to come back with the kids and we know they will love that. Good location, although it took us a day to get used to the narrow road that leads to the campsite. Best way we found was coming from Redruth, and even coming from West Cornwall we choose a longer route because the roads are better this way. When we plan our next trip, we might stay for a shorter time as when the weather is not good you feel constantly cold and hard to motivate yourself to get out of the tent. But that’s just us :) Highly recommend this place.

Local attractions

Stithians Lake is very close to Falmouth, where guests can continue the watery theme with a visit to the dockyards and National Maritime Museum, take a tour of Henry VIII’s seaside cottage Pendennis Castle, or just indulge in some retail therapy. Horticulturalists will find plenty of inspiration at the nearby Trebah and Glendurgan gardens, and animal fanciers will go barking mad over the seals, sea lions, otters and penguins at the National Seal Sanctuary in Helston. Under an hour’s drive is Penzance and Cornish beach towns Newquay and St Ives.
