General

  • 14 ares of greenery a short drive from the north Cornish coast
  • Indoor pool, trampoline, games room and dog exercise paddock
  • Bar and restaurant open seven nights a week in school summer holidays

Wake up to an unruffled vista of gentle hills and cobalt seas at Lanyon Holiday Park, which offers 14 acres of generously proportioned grass pitches.

Site facilities are great: you can wallow for hours - free of charge - in the toasty indoor swimming pool; the games room is open all day for TV, pool and video games; the kids can bounce themselves silly on the sizeable trampoline in the play park; and they’ve even thought of the dog, with a roomy exercise paddock for campsite canines (although there are no end of gorgeous walks in the countryside surrounding Lanyon, too).

There’s no need to stress about the essentials, either. It’s all here: fridges and freezers, ample free hot water everywhere on site, hairdryers to keep your barnet looking tip top, and oodles of washing machines, rotary and tumble dryers, and a free ironing kit.

Lanyon Holiday Park also has a bar and restaurant, open weekends only from the spring bank holiday (end of May) then seven nights a week during the school summer holidays.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The indoor swimming pool is open between 01/04 and 30/09.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

The bar/restaurant is only open weekends from spring bank holiday and every night during the school summer holidays.

Campfires must be in a self-contained firepit raised off the ground and a safe distance away from tents, caravans and awnings etc

Lovely clean site. Liked the bushes dividing the pitches.
    everything well kept.
Toilets and showers although small were always clean.

    Disliked:

Did not really see any staff the entire stay (which could be both a good or bad thing)
A bit disappointed that nothing on site was open (pool, closed, bar and rest closed, didn't see reception open during my stay)

From the manager...

Thankyou for taking the time to leave us such a fantastic review! The swimming pool is open from April until end of September 9am-8pm (we do however leave the cover on to keep the water warm and it is just a case of rolling it back when you wish to use it)
Bar and Restaurant is only open weekends until the summer holidays which is stated on our website and Pitch Up.
Really pleased that you had a great stay and found the whole site clean and tidy!
Hope to see you back again,
Best Wishes

Good park and games room for the children to keep them entertained, large pitches on a clean and well maintained site. Friendly Staff with good food at the onsite bar/restaurant. WiFi was excellent from our pitches near the park. The location of the park was also ideal for us as we could get to most places such as Newquay, Lizard or Lands End within a 50minute drive.

    Disliked:

Decking outside the toilet block made it really slippy but after mentioning it to the staff within 15 minutes they had a mat down and within the week were installing rubber matting over the top.

From the manager...

Thanks Daniel for this great review! We are happy you found our park well maintained and clean and that the park and games room kept the kids well entertained!
We are glad we managed to rectify the slippery decking as when we are made aware of a problem we try our best to fix it as soon as possible.
Lokking forward to welcoming you back

I liked the kids park, the on site pub and games room, it was adequate for our needs. so don't need lots of fuss, just somewhere that's clean tidy and friendly, which this was. The showers are great if you get in the right ones? The surrounds are lush, and if you love to explore then this is ideal for you, as you can see lots of old mine buildings that you can explore for free.

    Disliked:

one particular shower in the ladies shower room changes heat when the toilet flushes etc... and this shower cubical is quite small, so when the water changed temperature, I burnt my boob. OUCH. so I made sure me and my young daughter never went in there again. The pool wasn't open when I went to take my daughter either, the leaflet states open till dawn, so to me means open until it starts getting dark. Well it was still very light and the pool was closed, and this made my 5 year old cry as she was looking forward to a swim.

From the manager...

Thankyou so much for this great review! We are so pleased you found the site clean, tidy and friendly and enjoyed our onsite facilities including the bar and games room.
We are sorry you had an upset regarding pool times, we have now addressed this by showing opening and closing times on the swimming pool door.
We have removed the word “dusk” as this changes through spring and summer seasons.
Thank you for informing us about the change of temperature in the shower, we will have this checked out and rectified.
Hope to see you again....

Large pitches, with plenty of room for a big tent and gazebo. Very dog friendly, with a big field to exercise them. Dogs are also allowed in the restaurant/bar and shop, so you can access all parts of the site with your furry friends. The park, games room and pool are all located close by, which enabled my young nieces and teens to take off and play independently in a very safe environment. The site is well maintained and clean, including the toilets and shower blocks. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Excellent WiFi connection too.

As part of a trip around cornwall stumbled across Lanyon and thought it was fantastic, the play park and games room are a great addition for the kids. Its a shame the Bar wasn't open just yet but we can understand why as they were very quiet which meant we had the place (almost) to ourselves.
Pitches are huge and you aren't charged for any extra's (gazebos, pup tents, awnings etc) all included in the pitch price.
We only stayed a couple of nights as moving around the coast but will most definitelty be returning for a longer stay in the summer hols :)
The facilities were also always immaculately clean & staff super friendly.
Also being so close to the great flat load walking / cycle path was a massive bonus for us as our aim for the holiday was to get out on the bikes as much as possible.

    Disliked:

Nothing, will most definitely return :)

    Shower facilities were OK

    Disliked:

    - Nothing being open.
    - Being told by email to book in between 1pm and 7pm, then being told on arrival that we were 'late arrivals' as we'd arrived after 10 am.
    - The handout we were given made reference to site facilities 'available until early Sept'. 'Early' obviously relates to 'before the 10th', because nothing was actually available. This sheet really ought to have provided directions to the nearet pubs and shops.

From the manager...

Thanks for your feedback. I will address issues raised as best i can.
Firstly yes arrivals are between 1 and 7pm this is as departures are 11am and if anyone is on your pitch we need time to allow for delays and to cut the grass.
The site is extremely quiet in September and our receptionist doubles as a cleaner for our static vans and toilet blocks so any arrivals are classed under late arrivals so that a letter can be left out for you if nobody is in reception - not a literal meaning that you are late. There is a telephone number printed on reception door should you have any problems and need assistance.
Our eatery and on site breakfast van/shop closes after the August bank holiday around the 2nd of September. Our swimming pool was still heated, open and available to you.
We have taken note that the letter issued to arrivals does need to be updated and include information about the local village and shop so will be changed accordingly.
Again any problems, questions or queries could have been rectified by popping into reception or ringing the phone number on reception door (it is not feasible to have someone sitting in reception all day when we are quiet).

Local attractions

Leaving Lanyon, it will take a mere 10 minutes in your trusty automobile to arrive at acres of golden sand. Surfers will think they have dived and gone to heaven: Portreath, on the doorstep, is not to be sneezed at, but a few miles further they’ll find arguably the best surfing in Britain, on the beaches of Newquay.

Art lovers will enjoy a trip to the Tate at St Ives, followed by a meander through the narrow streets that pack the hillside behind the sweep of the bay.

Also within a short drive are the biospheres of the Eden Project and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth. Travel a little further and you can make throngs of finny friends at the aquarium in Plymouth.
