General

  • 14 ares of greenery a short drive from the north Cornish coast
  • Indoor pool, trampoline, games room and dog exercise paddock
  • Bar and restaurant open seven nights a week in school summer holidays

Wake up to an unruffled vista of gentle hills and cobalt seas at Lanyon Holiday Park, which offers 14 acres of generously proportioned grass pitches.

Site facilities are great: you can wallow for hours - free of charge - in the toasty indoor swimming pool; the games room is open all day for TV, pool and video games; the kids can bounce themselves silly on the sizeable trampoline in the play park; and they’ve even thought of the dog, with a roomy exercise paddock for campsite canines (although there are no end of gorgeous walks in the countryside surrounding Lanyon, too).

There’s no need to stress about the essentials, either. It’s all here: fridges and freezers, ample free hot water everywhere on site, hairdryers to keep your barnet looking tip top, and oodles of washing machines, rotary and tumble dryers, and a free ironing kit.

Lanyon Holiday Park also has a bar and restaurant, open weekends only from the spring bank holiday (end of May) then seven nights a week during the school summer holidays.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The indoor swimming pool is open between 01/04 and 30/09.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

The bar/restaurant is only open weekends from spring bank holiday and every night during the school summer holidays.

Campfires must be in a self-contained firepit raised off the ground and a safe distance away from tents, caravans and awnings etc

    - Pitch was well maintained (ground was flat, pegs entered the soil easily, hedgerow was cut back, space for car)
    - The campsite was quiet by 10:00pm, only awoken by chatter in the morning at 8:00am
    - facilities were nearby (toilets, waterpoint, shop, rubbish bins)
    - a great van which sold breakfast (bacon butties!) and essentials
    - toilets and showers were always clean
    - didn't use swimming pool/ laundry facilities/ wifi

    Disliked:

    - showers and toilets could do with modernising

  • Liked:

The ground was lovely, the trees around all the pitches made it a little more private too, there was a lovely heated pool for the kids a great park with trampolines on which the kids loved, a cracker little pub with a happy hour 6/7 served food too but we didn't eat here, the amenities where great, showers toilets and family shower rooms, drinking water taps, grey water facility and the washing up sinks where indoor, with washing machines and dryers too. The people who ran the park where lovely. I would recommend it to anyone, it really does cater for all

The use of the indoor pool and small games room containing air hockey and pool tables were great for our camping trip in the soggy August weather.
The pitches are well maintained and many of them have a hedged boarder.

    Disliked:

The entertainment wasn't our cup of tea but we don't usually go anyway so not really an issue for us.

From the manager...

We are really pleased you had a lovely time despite the inclement weather and found the site had plenty to occupy the children at this time!
R.J's are trialling various different options for entertainment this year not all appeals to everyone but we hope you will return and visit us in the future!

The privacy of the electric pitches was perfect. The staff were both helpful and very friendly. The location is ideal for travelling to various attractions all over cornwall and the site has attractions fairly close by including cornwall gold. The park had enough for the kids when the weather was poor but not so much that they wanted to be off in the amusements all the time.

    Disliked:

This is a minor dislike but all I can really fault is the Bar food was a little pricy, I think it was £10.95 for fish and chips and not many options if your a vegetarian.

From the manager...

Thankyou for your lovely comments regarding privacy of pitches, friendly helpful staff and our facilities.
Price of fish and chips in the bar is £7.95 so not sure where you read £10.95?? As Rj''s have taken on the bar and restaurant this year we will pass back to them that it would be nice to have more vegetarian options.
Hope we will welcome you back again,

The area was lovely, close enough to supermarket. Clean and tidy. Staff are helpful.

    Disliked:

Supposed to be family only, had lots of rowdy neighbours, music and loud noise late into the night. Bathrooms were too small for the amount of people staying, clothes dryer kept breaking and if you open the door to check your drying you need to put more money in "ripoff". Water in showers not that hot and little room to get changed. Grass is always being cut and I mean daily, this doesn't get picked up and is walked everywhere, large herd of cows in next field that are constantly noisy. Pool is tiny but warm and food is awful pitches are small and uneven, The dog paddock is also a playing field, caravan storage and electric hook up. Not safe to let your dog off and full of pooh.

From the manager...

Wow what a terrible holiday you had! There are a number of things incorrect and slightly ridiculous in your comments. We have hot water supplied to all our showering facilities. Families can be rowdy too - anybody severly affecting your holiday can be spoken to by our staff if they are made aware.
We have arrivals and departures every day of the week - so pitches need to be cut before the next guests arrive so yes it does happen each day but is always picked up.
Our pitches are very generous in size and level. The paddock is very safe to let your dog off and if any dog owners have not been responsible by picking up after them we do a walk round each day to rectify. The pool is small yes but still great fun for the kids. We do apologise however for the cows in the countryside near us - no matter how many times we tell them to quieten down they just don't listen!

Small and peaceful. The children loved the swimming pool and play area.

    Disliked:

Poor wifi signal so we were unable to use it in the tent field.

From the manager...

Thankyou for your good review of Lanyon! It's great you and your family had a wonderful holiday and made use of the heated swimming pool.
We do not advertise having any wifi so if you were able to get online anywhere on the site that was a bonus!

Everything about the site. It was clean, friendly and the attention to detail was much appreciated.
The shower block was great, with hot plentiful showers, free hair dryer and hand drier.
There were two freezers to do your own ice packs which is always helpful.
The clubhouse and pool are there and welcoming should you choose to use them.
No complaints about this site at all. Will definitely go again in the future!

Local attractions

Leaving Lanyon, it will take a mere 10 minutes in your trusty automobile to arrive at acres of golden sand. Surfers will think they have dived and gone to heaven: Portreath, on the doorstep, is not to be sneezed at, but a few miles further they’ll find arguably the best surfing in Britain, on the beaches of Newquay.

Art lovers will enjoy a trip to the Tate at St Ives, followed by a meander through the narrow streets that pack the hillside behind the sweep of the bay.

Also within a short drive are the biospheres of the Eden Project and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth. Travel a little further and you can make throngs of finny friends at the aquarium in Plymouth.
