Pray, what could be better than a pub on a Cornish beach? A pub on a Blue Flag Cornish beach, perhaps, in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? And with a pitch to stagger back to a short stroll from the sands?
Campers at Higher Pentreath Farm Camp Site will be happy to know they’re less than five minutes’ walk from that Blue Flag beach, as the site overlooks the gorgeous mile-long stretch of Praa Sands between Penzance and Helston on Cornwall’s south coast. It’s a spacious park that’s been family-run since the 1960s and the committed team prides itself on keeping guests relaxed – probably not too difficult on a park overlooking Praa Sands…
Higher Pentreath has pitches for tents, tourers and motorhomes, space aplenty for pipsqueaks to run around, and a shop on site for basics (and ice cream). Facilities include a loo and shower block with free hairdryer, washing machine (small charge applies), covered washing up area, phone and laptop charging at reception, and ice pack freezing or supplying. There’s a garage half a mile away and a 24-hour Tesco within ten minutes’ drive.
As for the pub on the beach? It’s the Sandbar, with home-cooked Mediterranean-style meals, Sunday carvery, food theme nights and regular music nights; there's even free wifi so you can have a Cornish surf.
