  • Quiet adults-only site in the middle of the Land's End peninsula
  • Spacious pitches marked with hedges; smart modern bathroom block
  • A 10-minute drive from Sennen Cove and the Land's End viewpoint
Want to run away from it all but avoid the crowds of Cornwall in clement weather? Head to the end of the country and pitch up near smashingly scenic Land's End at family-run Cardinney Caravan and Camping Park. This is a site for those into their scenery: the four and three-quarter acres of grounds have been carefully landscaped to be filled with flowers, trees and shrubs, alongside roomy pitches that are thoughtfully laid out and individually marked with hedges. Award-winning Sennen Cove – full of surfing spots, wildlife watching and stunningly scenic sands – is less than three miles away. Cardinney's facilities include a well-stocked shop that sells Calor gas alongside grocery essentials. It's also got a fully equipped launderette and a smart luxury bathroom block (newly opened for the 2021 season).

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We tend to try new sites each time we go away. This is the first time we have returned to a site. The reason is that we love Cardinney. It is well maintained, quiet, there is lots of room between pitches and the shower block is immaculate. Thank you for another great stay.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely quiet site, easy check-in with the barrier system made for a hassle free arrival. Facilities were very clean and well maintained, push button showers will always drive me mad but they’re in the majority of campsites these days. I understand keeping water useage to a minimum but no one could ever shower/wash hair in 20 seconds of water flow! It is what it is. The hedges to separate pitches are great and especially good for protecting tents in the wind, we were well tucked in and sheltered. There’s also plenty of space between you and your neighbours which is always good!

Disliked: Drains by the toilet and shower block are a bit whiffy when you’re near the block. Nothing that affects any pitches though.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Very clean site and showers etc. very quiet and pitch sizes are great

Disliked: The only thing we didn’t like was the smell of the field sprayer but hey, you’re on a farm so not unexpected for this time of year. September The only thing I’d say with laundry is take extra detergent as it smelt odd and someone took our stuff out the dryer before it was dry which was annoying

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Really nice campsite, well set out, exceptionally clean and clearly defined pitches. No children !!! Winner we booked another adult only pitch. Felt secure with cctv Loved the wealth of wildlife, early evening greeted by bats, hedgehogs scuttled by, owls hooted and wake in the night suggested other wild wonderful creatures

Disliked: Being in G5 meant in the evening we did not get the sun. Easy to follow instructions and contact details but no staff around

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Quiet site with good thick hedges to separate most of the pitches. Adults only helped make it a peaceful stay. Good location for exploring many of the far reaches of Cornwall between the north and south coast. Good toilet and shower block. Washing up facilities in a building together with freezer for ice blocks.

Disliked: Wifi was quite patchy

Local attractions

Have a look at the leaflets in Cardinney's information hut to see the best of what's nearby: sandy beaches, surfing, golf, fishing, horse riding and seaside towns and villages are all within five miles. Land's End first, of course… of all the scenic spots in Cornwall, this is among the most spectacular, and you'll probably need a couple of days at least roaming around the beaches, coves and cliffs here... Secluded Sennen Cove and its sparkling sands are a first stopoff for many, who come to soak up the sun on its sands or tackle the waves on its surf. Whitesands Beach is also well regarded for surf and joins up with the mile of beach at Gwenver where the waves are a bit stronger (all three beaches are lifeguarded in summer). On the cliffs, many suggest that one of the best Land's End occupations is just to sit and watch the waves crashing below, but if you're itching for a hike, visit the visitors' centre for a list of walks around the area, or the RSPB Wildlife Discovery Centre just below the famous Land's End signpost to find out what species you can see. In the evening, the famed open-air Minack Theatre at Porthcurno is probably one of this area's best-known manmade things, set into the cliffs and listed as one of the most spectacular theatres in the world. The season runs from May to September, but tickets are available to look around the theatre and gardens during the day. Cardinney Caravan and Camping Park is an obliging base for other much-visited Cornish attractions like National Trust houses and gardens and yet more spectacular beaches: try Godolphin at Helston, Flambards theme park, or lying on the sands at Marazion, Mousehole or along the coast at St Ives.
