General

  • Petting corner on site with ponies
  • Easy access to Crealy Great Adventure Park
  • Pool, bar, games room and free hot showers

Ponies! Heaps of things will make your kids’ hearts sing on a stay at long-established and family-run Music Water Touring Park near Padstow in Cornwall, but we’re betting the petting corner on site to nuzzle the noses of snuggly ponies will be any small person’s first melodious stop.

(You can then casually inform them – kids, not ponies – that Music Water is within trotting distance of Crealy Great Adventure Park, and we bet they’ll be singing all through the hol.)

As befits a park with ponies on it, Music Water has a paddock layout for those to prefer to pitch up in a peaceful countryside setting. Kids can canter off to the play area and games room with pool tables, amusement machines and table tennis; for all sizes, the outdoor pool and family-friendly bar will keep the holiday harmonious.

Amenities-wise, guests have access to two shower and loo blocks with free hot water, a launderette, freezer pack service and an on-site post box (to send home jubilant postcards).

Trotting off site, Music Water is a few miles from the coastal walks and sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, four miles from Padstow and the Camel Trail, and seven miles from Wadebridge. Newquay – and its zoo – is about eight miles away, and the famed Eden Project about half an hour’s drive.

Buy barbecue bits and essentials at the shop a couple of miles away or at the Tesco in Padstow; diners out have stacks of choice from the quality restaurants and pubs in Padstow, Wadebridge, Newquay and St Merryn.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 21/05 and 05/09 (subject to weather conditions).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The bar is open during all school holidays.

Group bookings of five or more under 25 year olds are not accepted via Pitchup.com.

Balance of site fees must be paid on day of arrival by cash or cheque before you pitch. Cards are not accepted on site.

The pitch size was great everybody had space between the tents nobody was squashed in and it was a busy time the kids liked the animals especially the pony's the bathrooms were cleaned quite alot which was nice and so was the showers in the ladies and the men' the owners were nice and polite and very welcoming.

    Disliked:

The only thing that was a bit of a downer for us was the fact kids were allowed to play in the park on site until 11 at night some nights later this was not the sites fault it's just something to bear in mind.

We called and asked to arrive a day early as they forcast rain on the day we were ment to arrive, the staff were really helpful and sorted it out with no problems. When we arrived we got a warm welcome and the staff were friendly. The pitches are a really good size with plenty of room for a car next to the tent. The toilets and showers are cleaned regularly and you are supplied with toilet roll, hand towels and even a hairdryer. The kids loved the outside pool. The park is in a really good area close to Padstow. Will definitely be staying again.

    Disliked:

Swimming pool is unheated, although we went in august it was freezing (we didn't have great weather though ) games room is abit dated and unsupervised.

Local attractions

Beach or theme park? Theme park or beach? Surfing or sailing or fishing or horse riding or golf – or coastal hikes and countryside bikes? If you want to stick close to base, all are available within ten miles at the most from Music Water Touring Park, with other attractions and towns like Portreath, St Ives and Tintagel also exceedingly reachable on the north coast.

Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park at Tredinnick just outside Wadebridge will probably be the first stop for those on holiday with small adventurers to soar on the rides and peer at the meerkats; book online before going to get up to 20% off.

Also at Wadebridge, the St Eval Kart Circuit is the biggest children’s circuit in the UK and is suitable for ages three to 16 (adults can roar along the track on their own circuit too).

Newquay Zoo and its Blue Reef Aquarium are other popular stops on the ‘kids in Cornwall’ trail, and just outside Newquay farm-mad offspring will milk the day for all it’s worth around the huge indoor play centre, adventure park, critters and maze of award-winning DairyLand Farm World.

But to the beaches. Pick a different one every day to sunbathe, stroll, surf, swim or sail at in between the clifftop strolls of the South West Coast Path around Padstow, to Harlyn Bay, Treyarnon Bay, Porthcowan and on to Mawgan Porth.

The long surfing beach at Watergate Bay is less than five miles from Music Water Touring Park and has regular beach events as well as a beach sports and watersports academy to show the less experienced the ropes.

Portreath beach, along the coast to the west, is another sublime surfing beach and has access to the South West Coast Path’s eight-mile walk to Godrevy from its edge.

We also recommend the sands at Padstow and the National Trust-managed Bedruthan Steps; Padstow’s National Lobster Hatchery also makes for a gripping afternoon out and is worth a look if only to hear the kids say ‘Ewww’.

Must see

  • Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park (1.3 miles)
  • Rock Beach (5.0 miles)
  • Newquay Zoo (7.0 miles)

National Trust

  • Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps (3.3 miles)
  • Trerice (7.5 miles)
