General

  • Petting corner on site with ponies
  • Easy access to Crealy Great Adventure Park
  • Pool, bar, games room and free hot showers

Ponies! Heaps of things will make your kids’ hearts sing on a stay at long-established and family-run Music Water Touring Park near Padstow in Cornwall, but we’re betting the petting corner on site to nuzzle the noses of snuggly ponies will be any small person’s first melodious stop.

(You can then casually inform them – kids, not ponies – that Music Water is within trotting distance of Crealy Great Adventure Park, and we bet they’ll be singing all through the hol.)

As befits a park with ponies on it, Music Water has a paddock layout for those to prefer to pitch up in a peaceful countryside setting. Kids can canter off to the play area and games room with pool tables, amusement machines and table tennis; for all sizes, the outdoor pool and family-friendly bar will keep the holiday harmonious.

Amenities-wise, guests have access to two shower and loo blocks with free hot water, a launderette, freezer pack service and an on-site post box (to send home jubilant postcards).

Trotting off site, Music Water is a few miles from the coastal walks and sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, four miles from Padstow and the Camel Trail, and seven miles from Wadebridge. Newquay – and its zoo – is about eight miles away, and the famed Eden Project about half an hour’s drive.

Buy barbecue bits and essentials at the shop a couple of miles away or at the Tesco in Padstow; diners out have stacks of choice from the quality restaurants and pubs in Padstow, Wadebridge, Newquay and St Merryn.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 21/05 and 05/09 (subject to weather conditions).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The bar is open during all school holidays.

Group bookings of five or more under 25 year olds are not accepted via Pitchup.com.

Balance of site fees must be paid on day of arrival by cash or cheque before you pitch. Cards are not accepted on site.

Staff very helpful, travelled down over a bank holiday weekend so didnt arrive til very late, staff were still very welcoming.
    Great size pitch
    great location

    Disliked:

only 2 showers, which did get dirty floors very quickly.

not the sites fault.. but make sure you have a long lead for electrical hook up as depending on the pitch you get, you may be quite far away from the box. We ended up pretty much on our neighbours pitch which we felt very bad about.

Close to Padstow and Wadebridge good for the A39. Nice area for children to play, well fenced in swimming pool.

    Disliked:

Site is clean and dated. Toilet block needs to be updated, very low water pressure in the hot water supply, Very busy road outside the site, needs a security gate to stop children wondering and cars just driving in.Wind Turbines noisy more so on a windy day which was most off or stay .No wifi asked about it told people didn't want it, plus cash only( we are now in 2017). Ground very wet due to very heavy rain didn't drain well.

Stayed with two other families, we all had a great time here. 5 children aged 8-14 had a blast just playing in the games room and making up their own games. We loved the little bar, it was like stepping back into 1983( the prices too!). We played darts and pool etc... really fun.
Toilet block dated and quite busy but cleaned regularly. I used the other block which was quieter as amoungst the residential caravans.
Location was good, near to beaches and Padstow.
    Owners were really plesant.
Kids loved the horses & chickens.
All in all a good base to explore.

    Disliked:

If I was being picky, toilet block and bar could be updated but kind of added to the charm.

We had 2 lovely pitches next to each other that although on a slant was a good size for our 2 large tents. We had an additional event shelter and still had plenty of room. The toilet blocks were cleaned regularly. The staff on site were lovely and nothing was a problem.
The washing up area was good although the hot water wasn't hot enough to wash pots properly, not a big deal really, just a small bugbear.
The older kids enjoyed the pool table on a night time whilst the little ones and adult stayed at the tent playing card games.
Our first visit to Cornwall and a lovely site to be based on. Only reason we wouldn't return is that we like to visit somewhere different each camping trip.

    Disliked:

The 'heated pool' was heated by the sun. Disappointing when we wrongly assumed it was going to be warm. My youngest screamed the place down when trying to get in. It was just too cold.

This campsite is inexpensive, however for the money there are toilets and showers that are kept to a clean standard, there is also a children's playback and games room and a small outdoor pool. It is run by friendly helpful staff. It is situated in a quiet rural area a short drive from Padstow. There are several wind turbines in the area but never heard these and they don't distract from the natural beauty of the area. I have stayed in places more expensive that have fewer facilities that are dirty, so was very pleased and would recommend this site to others.

This site was simply fantastic, from clean hot shower/toilet blocks, several pot washing units, awesome children's park, easily located bin area and fresh water, this site even had a swimming pool which was lived by the kids. The ponys and chickens where an added bonus! The lady and gent who I presume own the site where lovely and helpful and their little bar was well equipped with plenty of slchoke priced very reasonably.

    Disliked:

Nothing really other than the club house smelling a little fusty, that could be my only dislike.

Site grounds are well looked after, good sized pitches. Small pool for children and petting area. close to cost and good choice of beaches. Warm welcome and staff helpful.

    Disliked:

some of the pitches were rather uneven, it was a pity that the bar and facilities are rather dated. It is clear the owners are hard working however might benefit from hiring more help as the loos were often short of paper goods and rather dirty.

Local attractions

Beach or theme park? Theme park or beach? Surfing or sailing or fishing or horse riding or golf – or coastal hikes and countryside bikes? If you want to stick close to base, all are available within ten miles at the most from Music Water Touring Park, with other attractions and towns like Portreath, St Ives and Tintagel also exceedingly reachable on the north coast.

Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park at Tredinnick just outside Wadebridge will probably be the first stop for those on holiday with small adventurers to soar on the rides and peer at the meerkats; book online before going to get up to 20% off.

Also at Wadebridge, the St Eval Kart Circuit is the biggest children’s circuit in the UK and is suitable for ages three to 16 (adults can roar along the track on their own circuit too).

Newquay Zoo and its Blue Reef Aquarium are other popular stops on the ‘kids in Cornwall’ trail, and just outside Newquay farm-mad offspring will milk the day for all it’s worth around the huge indoor play centre, adventure park, critters and maze of award-winning DairyLand Farm World.

But to the beaches. Pick a different one every day to sunbathe, stroll, surf, swim or sail at in between the clifftop strolls of the South West Coast Path around Padstow, to Harlyn Bay, Treyarnon Bay, Porthcowan and on to Mawgan Porth.

The long surfing beach at Watergate Bay is less than five miles from Music Water Touring Park and has regular beach events as well as a beach sports and watersports academy to show the less experienced the ropes.

Portreath beach, along the coast to the west, is another sublime surfing beach and has access to the South West Coast Path’s eight-mile walk to Godrevy from its edge.

We also recommend the sands at Padstow and the National Trust-managed Bedruthan Steps; Padstow’s National Lobster Hatchery also makes for a gripping afternoon out and is worth a look if only to hear the kids say ‘Ewww’.
