General

  • Award-winning family-run site four miles from the coast
  • Five coarse fishing lakes on site
  • Spacious well-kept pitches in 34 acres of Cornish countryside

This family-run site converted from a working dairy farm is the recipient of multiple awards, has first-rate facilities including a cosy pub with free wifi, and has five well-stocked fishing lakes on site.

St Tinney is on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Otterham and four miles from the north Cornish coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The team prides itself on the site’s high standards, whether that’s the newly refurbished shower and loo block with walk-in wetroom showers, the top-quality evening meals in the bar, or the 12 David Bellamy Gold Conservation Awards showcasing St Tinney’s commitment to conservation and nature...

It’s all in 34 acres of countryside a mile from the A39, with access to the site via a single track lane with passing places and around it by driveways and gravel paths.

Five well-stocked coarse fishing lakes are accessible via earth and shingle tracks. If anyone in your party has mobility issues, let the team know in the ‘Other details’ box when booking and they’ll do their best to accommodate you.

All pitches are located round the outside edges of our fields, and St Tinney has a modern professionally-installed launderette with commercial washing and drying machines, as well as a combined recycling area outside the shower and toilet block. Two covered outdoor sinks with hot and cold running water for washing up cutlery and crockery are located outside the shower and toilet block. An on-site licensed bar serves a range of drinks and tasty food.

For supplies, Marshgate Post Office a mile and a half away has a general store, with another and a post office at Wainhouse Corner within two and a half miles. There’s a Morrisons at Bude and a Tesco at Launceston, but if you want to take it easy you can get your shopping delivered to the site by Tesco, Asda or Waitrose. Being able to grocery shop from the farm pub? There should be an award for that too.

Great location, family run site. The on site pub served good value food. Very spacious pitches with a great play area. The shower block although small was very warm.

    Disliked:

The shower block was deep cleaned every day, but due to people using it after they used the swimming pool it quickly got very muddy and wet on the floor. Not really a big problem though. My husband said the work tops around the sinks in the men's were always soaked as the taps were very powerful and there were no other work tops to put things like wash bags to keep them dry.

First impressions were very good. Beautiful clean campsite with a great little on site pub and facilities that would rival the large caravan sites. Despite all the extras St tinneys still feels very relaxed and even on the bank holiday weekend and fully booked it never felt crowded.
Pitches were huge and perfectly spaced in the fields only positioned on the perimeter. Loads of privacy and a perfectly mowed lawn to pitch on.
We were greeted by the owner straight away and were shown to our pitch.( even thou we were a bit early) and just had time to stroll the beautiful grounds while they gave it a fresh mow.
The owner really made us feel welcome and I got the impression she really cared about all her guests and her business.

Absolutely loved our stay at St Tinney farm, site was spacious and unlike many sites does not book too many pitches! The site was clean and very well kept, staff were super friendly! The outdoor pool, again was spotlessly clean. Food at the pub on site was great value for money and very nice.

My kids, aged 7 and 6 loved the play park in the centre of our field and there was plenty of room for them to run a punt, ride their bikes and play football without getting close to cars/tents.

The site is also centrally located to many attractions which made it an ideal base as everything we wanted to do was within a 20-30 min drive away. Will be returning!!

Everything! It was the most beautiful setting, peaceful and the facilities were excellent. The showers are lockable. The added bonus of portaloos, although not always the most fragrant, are so handy in the middle of the night! The pool and the games room was a big hit with our two children and the small cosy pub was a big hit with the grown ups! The staff are very friendly and all in all it was the best site we've stayed at and made for a wonderful holiday, thank you!

Directions

St Tinney Farm is located on the north Cornish coast. We are approximately three miles from the sea in the tiny rural hamlet of Otterham, about one mile from the A39 Atlantic Highway. The roadway to Otterham from the A39 is a rural single carriageway with passing places.

We recommend that visitors to St Tinney bring some form of transport with them. Although local bus services are available from the A39, they do not run as frequently as they do in towns or cities.

Please note: some makes of satnav will guide you via the shortest or quickest route. If you let your satnav guide you from either Launceston or Bude it may take you unnecessarily down rural country lanes. It is normally far quicker and easier to follow the simple routes outlined below which will keep you on the main roads for as long as possible.

How to find us from the direction of Bude on the A39:
Take the A39 signposted Wadebridge and drive through the village of Wainhouse corner on the A39. 11 miles from Bude, after a short stretch of uphill dual carriageway, when you reach the brow of the hill you will see a sign for Otterham village. Turn left, then follow the road to your right, then take the first turning on your right, following the road around through Churchtown Farm, and following the brown signs to St Tinney Farm.

How to find us from the direction of Launceston on the A30:
Bypass Launceston on the A30 and then take the A395, signposted north Cornwall. Drive eight miles to Hallworthy and take the second turning on the right signposted Otterham Station. Follow this road until you come to the main junction with the A39. Turn right continuing on the main road until the brow of the hill, where you will see St Tinney Farm signposted on a brown tourist sign. Turn right, following the road around to the right. Then take the first turning on your right, following the road around through Churchtown Farm, and following the brown signs to St Tinney Farm.

Nearest train station:
Our nearest railway station is located at Bodmin Parkway, approximately 25 miles away.

Local bus service:
Western Greyhound operate a local bus service (number 595) from the A39 which is a one-mile walk up single track country lanes from St Tinney.

Local taxi firms:
A suitable local accessible taxi company to pick up from Bodmin Parkway would be Parnell's Taxis. If you have any particular mobility requirements, please mention these in the other details box on the booking page.

Local attractions

Within a few miles you’ll find coast and countryside enough to keep you rambling, swimming and picnicking for as long as you like, with other attractions of Cornwall like the Eden Project, Port Isaac and Padstow no more than 45 minutes’ drive away.

Sticking close to home first, St Tinney is halfway along the stunning 48-mile stretch of north Cornwall coast from Morwenstow to Bedruthan Steps, and the nearest beach, Crackington Haven, is four miles away: take your surfboard out here or use it as a base for walks along the cliff (bring your camera).

Within five to six miles from St Tinney, you’ll reach secluded and scenic Strangles Beach, well worth the steep clamber down to it; and the postcard-worthy harbour at Boscastle (we insist that you also visit the Witchcraft Museum when here). For vittles, there are a few top-notch pubs serving food: try the Napoleon, the Wellington or the Cobweb.

Also within ten miles are Rocky Valley with its Bronze Age carvings and more stunning scenery; Rough Tor and the walk over Bodmin Moor; King Arthur’s old haunt Tintagel Castle; and the mile-long sandy beach at Widemouth Bay, a top spot for rockpooling.

Bigger seaside towns can be found at Bude with famed Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches (within 11 miles); Doc Martin territory Port Isaac within 16 miles (see if you can spot Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen); and fishy Padstow within 25 miles.

We’ll hit the bottom of the screen if we list everything else you can get to within a matter of miles, but some final suggestions because we can’t help it: parking on the sands at Polzeath and basking in the sheltered sunspot of Daymer Bay (19 miles); enviously watching the yachters and taking the ferry to Padstow from Rock (21 miles); the cobbled cuteness of Clovelly (25 miles) and the National Trust’s Lanhydrock (23 miles).

You can also venture onto Dartmoor and explore there: Lydford Gorge and its waterfall is 25 miles away, and the living history attraction Morwellham Quay Theme Village within 30.
