General

  • Close to Newquay and within a few minutes' drive of several beaches
  • Heated outdoor pool, café, bar and takeaway
  • Close to Treloy Golf Club and 1.4 miles from the Boardmasters venue

Think Newquay and you think – surf? And you’d be right: the north Cornish town is probably the most famed spot in Cornwall for those who like to plunge with their boards into the foaming waves. But non-surfers who visit Newquay find there are a few other draws here… and so we come to Treloy Touring Park.

Holidaymakers of all sizes have a heated outdoor pool to splash about in and the location is pretty smashing too, tucked away quietly from the Cornish summer crowds but close to Newquay and within a few minutes’ drive some of Cornwall’s best beaches.

Care to tee off? Treloy Golf Course with driving range, nine-hole course, golf shop with club hire and licensed clubhouse is just down the road, with concessionary prices for Treloy guests.

The park’s modern amenities are kept to high standards by the friendly crew, which goes out of its way to ensure that guests of all sizes have a tiptop time.

Supplywise, the café, bar, takeaway and well-stocked shop on site should cater for most of your needs during the high season (please check the 'Policies' tab for more info); any holiday park shop that sells Cornish pasties will likely be a big hit with the kids too.

Excellent facilities! 04/09/2017

  • Liked:

Facilities at the site were excellent for the price we paid. End of August so site was reasonably quiet, still plenty of kids running around but nothing to cause any issues. Quite close to the airport, but not a great deal of planes taking off so again no real issue.

    Disliked:

My only slight dislike (but in no way a complaint) is the location, not really anywhere to go for a walk, unless you don't mind walking on unfamiliar country lanes.

From the manager...

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Next time we recommend you explore the South West coastal paths, this is a great way to see Cornwall at its best, as we are fairly close to the north coast.

Excellent site, the pitches we're huge and in great condition. Toilets and showers block was excellent and included hair dyers. Even that it was a busy site it all went quiet around 10/10.30pm.
Great family focused site with entertainment, playground and outside pool. The wifi was ok, but it did depend on were you was located on the site, £5 for one week useage.
Would visit again and recommend others to aswell.

    Disliked:

Would have been good to have better public transport links into Newquay and Padstow, maybe a site bus would be a good idea

From the manager...

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you next year.
For your information it is possible to walk through our campsite towards the bus-stop for regular buses to and from Newquay. The walk takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

A good value site, lovely clean pool and facilities, friendly staff. 02/09/2017

  • Liked:

The staff were very friendly, helpful and always had a smile no matter what they were doing. 5 Stars for the staff who kept the facilities nice and clean, much appreciated.
Also, we liked the swimming pool, well kept to ensure it was lovely for you to enjoy each day.

    Disliked:

A couple of things, other campers who did not drive at the 5mph speed limit resulted in our car, tent and camping equipment being covered in dust thrown up from the road. Not to mention safety of children on the park with folk driving too fast.
We also disliked that you could not take your own freezer blocks, especially when the park had run out of their freezer blocks you could hire. Would have been a much easier stay if we had somewhere to keep our own blocks frozen.
Also, probably not too many people go unplugged, but somewhere to plug in on site and recharge batteries would have been good.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay.
We have taken note of your recommendations.
We would advise upgrading to an electric hook-up pitch for ease of charging appliances etc.

Directions

Follow the A30 into Cornwall. At Highgate Hill leave the A30 and then pass under the A30 and take the third exit towards Newquay.

At the Halloon roundabout take the third exit - A39 Wadebridge Road. At the Trekenning roundabout take the first left signposted Newquay A3059. Stay on this road for 4 miles until you see the Treloy Touring Park sign.

Local attractions

Treloy is in a first-class location whether your interests are coastline or countryside based, with fishing, golfing, cycling and main attractions like the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan all within easy reach. The park reception has info on most of Cornwall’s main attractions, with discount vouchers available for many.

One or more of the 11 beaches in and around Newquay will be most holidaymakers’ first stop. Fab Fistral Beach is the main mecca for surfers, with surf schools and surfing championships including Boardmasters busy throughout the season.

Family beaches such as Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay are a few minutes’ drive from Treloy: both Mawgan and Watergate are lifeguarded in the summer and Watergate has safe swimming areas for kids.

On land, Newquay and its surroundings have plenty going on too: Trenance Gardens, part of Trenance Leisure Park and with more than enough to tire the kids out with a boating lake, crazy golf, play areas, nature trails, a maze, the flumes and pools of Waterworld and one of the miniature trains, the Little Western Railway, of the Lappa Valley Steam Railway.

Award-winning DairyLand Farm World and the Blue Reef Aquarium should hold the attention of even the most fidgety youngster, but if not, the Crealy Great Adventure Park is less than half an hour away at Wadebridge, and Flambards Theme Park 25 miles away in Helston.

Kids thoroughly tired out? Onto more grownup activities such as an evening at Newquay’s theatre or four screen cinema, or angle for some fishing: coarse fishing at Porth Reservoir a mile from Treloy or a half/full day sea fishing trip from Newquay harbour.

The South-West Coast Path runs behind Watergate Bay – hike from here to Mawgan Porth or the 10 miles to Porthcothan – and for two-wheelers, the Padstow-Wadebridge leg of the Camel Trail is an easy traffic-free 5 mile cycle. You might even want to – ssh – take the kids along on that one…

  • Newquay Zoo (2.8 miles)
  • Blue Reef Aquarium (3.2 miles)
