General

  • Family park in Porth Valley within easy reach of Newquay and beaches
  • Heated pools, sauna and steam rooms, café, bar
  • Surf lessons, bike hire and coastal walks all available

What a lot there is to do around Cornwall's Newquay View Resort, a family-friendly park set a 15-minute walk from the golden and safe beach of Porth. Fittingly for a site based near Newquay, the park has its own surf school for those interested in learning the art – or you might prefer to lounge around the resort's many facilities (and bar) instead…?

Newquay View has a good range of modern accommodation and a wide variety of facilities, including a fully refurbished indoor pool with sauna and steam rooms at no extra charge, a heated outdoor pool with seating and a new play area (pool open in summer), and the Venue bar and restaurant, serving food every day and fully kitted out with BT Sports, arcade games, snooker tables and plenty of seating.

The summer months see regular evening entertainment in the Venue from shows to bingo, and Sami’s kids' club on hand to amuse kids of all ages with talent competitions, discos and heaps of other activities.

For food, a restaurant in the Venue was added in 2017 with the aim of producing high-quality food to match the standards of the site facilities, using the best of fresh local ingredients. As much of the food is made in-house as possible, from burgers to sauces. The site also has a small shop selling food, pastries and pasties, fresh veg, hot coffee, gifts and essentials. Plenty of local supermarkets are close to hand.

Amenities include showers, toilets, disabled facilities, free wifi and launderettes with coin-operated machines; irons and ironing boards can be hired from reception and there are also airers if required.

And if you're here to investigate the surf at nearby Fistral beach and Watergate Bay? Newquay View's on-site Blue Surf School has lessons and equipment hire, as well as bike hire and activities such as coasteering, all available for an additional charge. The famed surf festival Boardmasters is nearby.

Please note

The indoor swimming pool is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 3 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 26/05 and 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Due to the countryside valley location, the mobile reception is weak or minimal on the resort, so there's a phone available to use in reception should you need. The best network is O2; others are very limited. Free wifi is available in the poolside café and the Venue Bar.

The only part I enjoyed was the company of family and friends

    Disliked:

On arrival noticed it was not clean touring site was only fit for mud wrestling. Hard standing area drive way to get on plot single lane which made it very hard to reverse caravan into when plot opposite is occupied. The add which made us book stated everything but outdoor pool would be open another lie there were no showers working in the swimming pool sauna and steam room out of order to go along with the bubble pool, only 1 life guard on duty at a time , cafe stated it was open 9am - 12 daily another lie it was never open . And the add stated entertainment every night with kids club there was nothing No entertainment No kids Club. New year's eve entertainment I'm sure they said it was a band unless your high and a hippy you could understand a word. Staff on reception were useless. Bar staff very friendly. Save your money and go else were don't believe a word that's on the website .

From the manager...

Thank you for your review Andrew and I am very sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us over New Year. Unfortunately due to the terrible weather our pitches are currently very wet especially in December. Our website does give information on all of our available facilities as people are looking at the site to book holidays all year round. However, it does state that the opening times are limited out of season and our Christmas opening times for all facilities were available on the website. I can only apologise with regards to the issues with the sauna, steam and showers, unfortunately at times things can go wrong and although we understand that this is disappointing, we do our best to rectify problems as soon as possible. We don't have a bubble pool on site, I think you must be referring to our endless training pool which is available for one to one swimming sessions on appointment. I am very sorry that our live band was not to your taste but can assure you that they all have a very professional approach. I was very happy to hear that you found our bar staff to be helpful & that you enjoyed the buffet that was included. I understand our friendly reception team upgraded and moved both families to one of our Elite Range caravans due to the weather and pitches, so we do try our best to help and rectify any issues during your stay. I will pass on your feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve.

Grass pitch was boggy and hard to get on and off. The toilets had no heating so was cold when having a shower. The on site restaurant which claimed to be open all year was actually closed with no signs declaring as to why.

Local attractions

Go surfing, go coast walking, go sporty, have a family-friendly day out or delve into Cornwall's historical and educational attractions – you'll find loads to do near Newquay View Resort and over the border in Devon to suit all weathers.

Take the kids to any one of many kid-friendly things to see and do: Newquay Zoo, the Blue Reef Aquarium and DairyLand Farm World are the closest big family attractions to the park, but it's worth a trip to the Eden Project at St Austell or to Devon for the Crealy Great Adventure Park at Exeter, and The Big Sheep and the Milky Way parks, both at Bideford.

The closest sands to the site are at Porth beach and Watergate Bay, both within about 15 minutes and both part of the beaches at Newquay. No surfing is allowed at Porth during summer, so if you've come to tackle the waves, take your board to Watergate Bay or nearby Fistral beach, both regarded by surf dudes and dudettes as among the best surfing beaches in the world.

If you'd rather sunbathe, stroll, paddle or rockpool than surf, Newquay has miles upon miles of beautiful beaches to explore – try a day each at Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze, Great Western, Towan or Tregurrian, where you can also try adventurous activities like kayaking, scuba diving or kitesurfing.

On land, Cornwall's an active place and has plenty of options for the energetic, like rock climbing, cycling, mountain biking, abseiling or up and down hikes along the peaks of the South West Coast Path.

Must see

  • Newquay Zoo (1.8 miles)
