General

  • Award-winning family-run park with Cornish sea views
  • Heated indoor pool, kids' pool, games room and adventure playground
  • Very clean facilities in modern shower and toilet blocks

Woohoo, all new! Family-run, family-friendly and five-star Newperran Holiday Park near Newquay now has a new heated indoor pool, with a separate heated children’s pool so that small splashers don’t get squashed. Prefer to bask? There’s an outdoor sunbathing terrace here too.

Small fry also get a separate toddlers’ area in the Newperran adventure playground, and for rainy days for all sizes there’s a big games room on site with video games and pool tables. A skate park for the kids was added in 2016.

Newperran is a spacious site, in an elevated position over the Cornish countryside with sea views in the distance. It has spankingly clean facilities in its four up to date toilet and shower blocks, with individual shower cubicles, shaver points and hairdryers as well as disabled facilities and a family room with baby bath built in.

There’s also a large launderette, basics for sale at reception, and the Cottage Inn restaurant, open in school holidays, for filling up at.

Please note

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

The indoor swimming pool is open between 30/03 and 29/10.

A cable of at least 25 metres is needed to use the electric hook-up.

Launderette was very expensive. Some of the paths in pitching fields need filling as lots of potholes

Brilliant location, excellent for young children good park and swimming pool. Good for dogs, big area for them to be walked.

    Disliked:

Not all toilets had soap dispenser's? Only a couple in each block had them and when I took my daughter to the toilet in the swimming pool that didn't have one either? I didn't feel this was very hygienic! The shop was quite basic. And I feel check out time at 10 was early for tents... to get up let it dry out and pack away was a rush..... why does it need to be so early?

From the manager...

Hi Thanks for your review. Soap, yes I understand. We used to have more soap dispensers but unfortunately they were pulled off the walls and when we renewed the toilet blocks, we couldn't take the risk of the damage happening again as it would have ripped the panelling . We used to have little soap dishes with soap, they were all pinched. Even the soap dispensers we have now, campers told me, that other campers were taking their own soap bottles in and holding underneath ours and filling there's up. The pool, we can address this. My mind set was people swimming have their own soapy stuff for washing after a swim. 10am departure is standard in most parks and hotels alike however this August was the busiest ever and I had to try and ensure departures was prompt as grass needed to be cut as well as tidying up the pitch area for the next camper. Normally, we can have room for manoeuvre on departure time, but not this year. I am glad you still would recommend friends and visit again.

I have visited here during Naturist weeks, and busy high season. 01/09/2017

Much prefer the Naturist trips here. These are available during June and July.

We are an older couple, and love to visit this camp site for the Naturist weeks here, when we can feel free and easy. We love the fact that there are no restrictions during these visits and we are free to visit the bar and restaurant and pool, feeling very relaxed and naked and free.

However we have just visited with my son and his family during August. It is a very different place with lots of children around the place, of course as this is he holidays. I really think that the hosts Christine and Keith struggle to cope with lots of kids around the place. They dont like children and i was so shocked that they are so rude to the kids. My grandson put £2 in one of the machines that never seemed to work. He went and told Christine that it hadnt worked, she said that he should not have put a 2nd coin in then, and she said he could only have 1 of his pounds back! How very rude.

There are no bins around the site, so there is lots of rubbish around. Also lots of signs with lots and lots of rules.

    Disliked:

I didnt really like anything this time to be honest. It was all very aggressive and not very relaxing.

I much prefer the relaxed pace during the Naturist weeks here, when you can be free and easy.
We tried to go for a swim on our departure day. We were already packed up and ready to go so we were not disturbing anyone. We were told that under no circumstances were we allowed to go for a swim on our last day !!! Not allowed - goodness me

Christine and Keith were constantly moaning about someone during our time here with my son and his family. Such a shame

From the manager...

Hello Naturist, this holiday park as other parks of this size, is a totally different animal to the naturist event I have here and will next June. We had over 2,000 people here during a 3 week period in August, one of the busiest in 17 years. Keith and I do amazingly well to keep order and ensure everyone is safe and can sleep at night. Could you do it ? You’re Grandson and his £2. I would recommend you teach your grandson a better fiscal strategy, if first your money does not work, you don’t keep putting money in, makes no sense. Think, hundreds of children doing the same thing, I would go bankrupt. As for you swimming, visitors are not allowed to use the pool as I am not insured if you drowned. Life is full of rules I’m afraid, Health & Safety rules my life. There are lots of rules in the great British Forces and we have the best.

As for not being child friendly, if I didn’t want to see families enjoying themselves, I would have bought a Nightclub.

Your best keeping to the naturist week, I’m pleased your happy with the bins when your naked.

Local attractions

There’s plenty to please penny pinchers here: the team at Newperran have negotiated discounts for coarse fishing at the nearby lakes; green fees at Perranporth's 18 hole golf course; horse riding at Reen Manor and surf lessons nearby for beginners, with discount vouchers available for the two big theme parks in the area, Flambards and Crealy Adventure Park.

Take the pennies saved along to shop in the cathedral city of Truro eight miles from Newperran: the Pannier Market is the biggest in the area and farmers’ markets are at Lemon Quay on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as food, drink, art and craft fairs held on the quay on various Saturdays.

Newquay is even closer than Truro – about five miles away – and Perranporth beach is just two miles away; both are top surfing beaches and surf schools and surf shops are on hand for the newly wetsuited.

If you prefer messing about on land, there’s plenty to do out of the water too: most Cornish villages have flower and music festivals at some point in the summer and there are carnival and regatta weeks regularly held in the bigger towns. From Newperran you’ll be within easy driving distance of most of the top attractions of this part of Cornwall such as the Tate Gallery at St Ives, the clifftop Minack Theatre at Porthcurno and, going north, King Arthur’s haunt Tintagel and the prettiness of Port Isaac.

Sticking closer to Newquay, it’s not all about the surf: Newquay Zoo and its hundreds of species is tickety-boo for a family day out and the award-winning DairyLand Farmworld is right on for rainy days with a humongous indoor play area alongside tractor rides, a nature trail and farm animals.

Fisher folk can get their hook on at shoals of sea, lake and river fishing around Newquay and Cornwall: as well as the discounted coarse fishing near Newperran Holiday Park, we recommend angling for some time fishing from Newquay Harbour where there are also boats for hire and sea safari trips to see the Newquay grey seals.

Or just pack a picnic and take to your feet for hikes and strolls around the Cornish countryside and coast: start from Newquay’s Trenance Gardens and meander along the River Gannel to Crantock; hike the headlands from Newquay Golf Club, or take a promenade from Perranporth to St Agnes to take in some mining history. The South West Coast Path has a 12-mile walk Newquay to Perranporth crossing famous Fistral Beach.
