General

  • Peaceful and private park in a Cornish valley
  • A few miles from the Eden Project
  • Adventure playground, games room and spotless amenities

Sometimes all you want is peace and quiet. Yes, even if you’re going to Cornwall and thousands of other holidaymakers have evidently had the same idea at the same time.

But peace is possible among the madding crowds, as can be seen by a trip to Lanlivery’s Eden Valley Holiday Park, a secluded site in a Cornish valley surrounded by trees and rhododendron bushes. And when you’re ready to brave the throngs, the park is handy for the highlights of Cornwall including the famous Eden Project a few miles away.

As you might deduce, Eden Valley is geared towards families and those who aren’t into noisy clubhouses or flashy evening entertainment. It’s a peaceful place set up to be as private as possible, with a select number of pitches in each linked wooded paddock (there’s also a dog-walking paddock so even family friends can get a bit of peace).

Kids have a big playground on site with a woodland course, swings, bridges and a fort... just the place for extra privacy... And if you're feeling competitive? Try the indoor games room with its pool table and ping pong for family challenges.

Amenities are kept to a spotless standard by Darren, Ginny and the team, and include a shower block with roomy cubicles each with their own toilet, sink and power shower. A launderette is also on site along with separate areas for washing up and vegetable prep. All in all, a little peace of paradise…

Showers were clean but would benefit from being updated. Would have liked variable height shower head and cubicle designed so that an area of floor could be kept dry!

Eden Valley is an excellent touring site. Great location to visit so much of Cornwall. Excellent facilities, hardstanding pitches, the staff are very friendly and always stop for a chat, was amazed at how nice and quiet it seemed even though it was the Easter holidays. Great kids room with pool table and football table, with plenty if activities and a great adventure park on site I would highly recommend for a visit.

The park is an amazing set up - the children with us (4, 6 & 8) had a whale of a time - having it pretty much to themselves. Imagine in the summer it would get busy. My previous review when we visited at Easter I commented on the lack of washing up facilities near the toilet block at the entrance - the park owners have put this in and it’s good. Well done folks, I’m sure we’ll be back!

    Disliked:

Ground was a bit boggy - but this was October!

Local attractions

Three of Cornwall’s major attractions are within a quick drive – the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Crealy Great Adventure Park – but a recommended start is staying local and heading over the hill a mile and a half away to the ancient town of Lostwithiel, set in the Fowey river valley.

After going local, go either north or south: north will take you to Bodmin Moor, home of the fabled beast and the place of legend, tors and Brown Willy, and to the National Trust’s country house Lanhydrock with sculptures, woodland trails, adventure playground and lavish gardens. Or there are the towns of Padstow, Newquay and Tintagel for seafood, surfing and swashbuckling tales of King Arthur; the Camel Trail runs near Padstow for horse riding, cycling and walking.

Going south, more biking and walking is along the China Clay Trail along with digging into history at St Austell’s China Clay Country Park. The town of Looe is within easy reach along the coast for fishing, shark spotting and a 12-mile walk to Fowey along the South West Coast Path if you’re feeling so inclined.
