Scenic Cornish setting? Check. A couple of acres to spread out around? Check. Within easy reach of the many attractions and activities around the county’s southern coastline? Check and check…
Maple Leaf Farm is a friendly adults-only site on the Lizard Heritage Coast, one of the wilder sections of south-western England’s shoreline, and a short distance from cracking cliffside walks. Head to this park – five minutes’ drive from the fishing village of Coverack – for serene stays in the countryside but with easy-peasy access to the water.
Coverack is a small but well-formed settlement with a handful of shops, gift shops, cafés, a friendly pub and a handsome harbour. Windsurfing, kayaking and boat trips are all available from here, and it’s a popular part of Cornwall for diving too as the Gulf Stream ensures it’s not too chilly and the local Manacles reef means there’s many a shipwreck to explore.
All sounding too adventurous for your landlubbing persona? There are also bike rides in the countryside and South West Coast Path hikes to be had nearby.
Once you’re back at the park and require a rest after loping around the Lizard peninsula, unfurl a blanket on Maple Leaf’s level and well-maintained two acres of ground – with no kids allowed on site, you're all set for grownup evenings at this park.

Local attractions
The area around this park is top-notch for explores of secluded smugglers’ coves, cute coastal villages and stunning beaches (plus a bit more besides). Get to Gweek (15 minutes’ drive) and make eyes at the adorable animals in the Cornish Seal Sanctuary or soar sky-high on the rides at Flambards Theme Park (20 minutes).
After something more serene? If walks along the South West Coast appeal, take on one of the trails leading to the National Trust’s Lizard Point (20 minutes) and peer out across the cliffs, then kick it to Kynance Cove when the tide is out, one of the prettiest beaches in this part of Cornwall.
If bigger stretches of seaside are more your thing, Falmouth (40 minutes) has four sandy spots to choose from, with Gyllyngvase beach considered its best. The town is also home to the National Maritime Museum, famed for the flotilla of model ships, and its outskirts play host to the 16th-century Pendennis Castle and the subtropical Trebah Garden.
Not done with the aquatic activities yet? Set off on sea-fishing trips or have a go at angling inland: the freshwater lake at Garras (10 minutes’ drive) is well stocked with carp et al.
