General

  • Adults-only site on the Lizard Heritage Coast
  • Five minutes' drive from Coverack and 15 from Lizard Point
  • Set over two level and well-maintained acres

Scenic Cornish setting? Check. A couple of acres to spread out around? Check. Within easy reach of the many attractions and activities around the county’s southern coastline? Check and check…

Maple Leaf Farm is a friendly adults-only site on the Lizard Heritage Coast, one of the wilder sections of south-western England’s shoreline, and a short distance from cracking cliffside walks. Head to this park – five minutes’ drive from the fishing village of Coverack – for serene stays in the countryside but with easy-peasy access to the water.

Coverack is a small but well-formed settlement with a handful of shops, gift shops, cafés, a friendly pub and a handsome harbour. Windsurfing, kayaking and boat trips are all available from here, and it’s a popular part of Cornwall for diving too as the Gulf Stream ensures it’s not too chilly and the local Manacles reef means there’s many a shipwreck to explore.

All sounding too adventurous for your landlubbing persona? There are also bike rides in the countryside and South West Coast Path hikes to be had nearby.

Once you’re back at the park and require a rest after loping around the Lizard peninsula, unfurl a blanket on Maple Leaf’s level and well-maintained two acres of ground – with no kids allowed on site, you're all set for grownup evenings at this park.

Bev is very friendly and helpful. The adult only site is very large, well maintained and lovely and peaceful. Electricity and water are available at all pitches. It is an excellent location for visiting much of Cornwall. If you are a walker then the site is within easy walking distance of the coast path. If you prefer less exercise, then Coverack is only a few minutes by car.

What a great site. Spotless shower and toilet which was a great bonus as so many sites are not opening them due to the virus. Lovely large quite field mowed and flat. Each pitch has electric and own water which was great. All local sights on your door step. I was met by our host who showed me to my pitch and let me know where everything was. Nothing was too much trouble. If you are looking for somewhere quiet with walks and local coves on your door stop this is the place to stay. You could hear the owls at night and the wagtails come really close to the van. Would certainly recommend.

Large spacious, flat pitches in a quiet setting which was amazing for star gazing. The owner was welcoming and very friendly, giving us all information we needed on arrival. Shower was lovely and warm and toilet was kept clean. Additional cleaning products were left so you could tidy up after yourself. There was only one toilet and shower but this didn’t matter as the site was small with only 3 other visitors during our stay. WiFi also available.

Local attractions

The area around this park is top-notch for explores of secluded smugglers’ coves, cute coastal villages and stunning beaches (plus a bit more besides). Get to Gweek (15 minutes’ drive) and make eyes at the adorable animals in the Cornish Seal Sanctuary or soar sky-high on the rides at Flambards Theme Park (20 minutes).

After something more serene? If walks along the South West Coast appeal, take on one of the trails leading to the National Trust’s Lizard Point (20 minutes) and peer out across the cliffs, then kick it to Kynance Cove when the tide is out, one of the prettiest beaches in this part of Cornwall.

If bigger stretches of seaside are more your thing, Falmouth (40 minutes) has four sandy spots to choose from, with Gyllyngvase beach considered its best. The town is also home to the National Maritime Museum, famed for the flotilla of model ships, and its outskirts play host to the 16th-century Pendennis Castle and the subtropical Trebah Garden.

Not done with the aquatic activities yet? Set off on sea-fishing trips or have a go at angling inland: the freshwater lake at Garras (10 minutes’ drive) is well stocked with carp et al.

Must see

  • Trebah Garden (5.8 miles)
  • National Seal Sanctuary (6.3 miles)
  • Flambards (7.8 miles)
