General

  • Set in 20 acres surrounding King Arthur's Stone
  • Free access to the activities and exhibitions of the centre
  • Play area, kitchen facilities and a barbecue area

Camping like you remember from your childhood... there are no pools, bars, karaoke or noisy entertainment at The Arthurian Centre, a small and peaceful place at Slaughter Bridge near the medieval market town of Camelford – considered by some to be the site of Camelot.

The site is set in 20 acres surrounding King Arthur's Stone, with scenic views over the Camel river valley and Bodmin Moor. Guests have free access to The Arthurian Centre site, a play area and free wireless broadband in the communal area.

Read about the legends and the history in the exhibition room, watch a video presentation on the site and its legends, or take part in one of the activities like brass rubbing, kids' quizzes and a nature trail. A play castle is also around for small adventurers, and a gift shop for grownup souvenir hunting.

Another play area is on site, along with a play area, laundry room, kitchen facilities, a firepit and a barbecue area. Toilets, showers, a laundry, handwashing facilities, drying towels and toilet paper are all provided.

Really good family orientated site for quieter periods 04/09/2017

  • Liked:

The pitches were of a good size and well spaced out - ours was surrounded by willow bushes so gave a good level of privacy, Great size - big enough for a large tent and event shelter. Nice play area for the kids, good facilities in the kitchen - kettle and toaster, washer and dryer. A selection of fire pits and stoves available to use on site. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

    Disliked:

Site was great when not at full capacity - as it became busier over bank holiday facilities were left a little under stocked - loo roll ran out etc. There was also times when the loos and showers weren't as clean as we'd have liked.

Lovely little campsite. We've spent there 3 nights. Nice and quiet, you can hear the traffic but you get used to it. My kids loved the playground. Nice communal area with lots of tables and chairs. Shivers are nice and clean. The safety boxes for charging were to small for my kids tablets, but we just charged them in the dvd room. Luckily no-one stole them. Campfires allowed. You can barrow a firepit or barbecue at the communal area. Lots of freezers look for them in the DVD room. Lovely places around to visit. We've been at Rocky valley it's absolutely stunning and the beach near is amazing.

lovely little campsite, very basic with a few mod cons. loved the fact that kids could be kids like climbing trees and playing knights and princesses in the castle play park. Beautiful little walk in the woods by the stream which the kids and dog enjoyed splashing around in trying to find king Arthers stone. staff are really helpful and friendly, cant wait to book for next year.

    Disliked:

showers we lovely, but when someone else was having one at the same time it would run cold as i found out in mid way of washing my hair.

Great site where my daughter had an amazing outdoor experience. Hunting caterpillers and grasshoppers. Showers were lovely and hot and the use of a fire pit was brilliant. Close to tintagel and boscastle. Even close enough for the eden project (25 miles) will definately be back again x

Lovely small site with playground right by tent pitches - we felt very comfortable letting our 7 yr old explore on her own as she was never really out of earshot!

Pleasantly surprised to find fridge, freeze, kettle and toaster as well as secure charging facilities for phones. Small 'games' room was well utilised as the weather was less than optimal. Free wifi in communal area was another plus.

Would definitely return to this site if in the area again.
