A bude-iful setting among nine acres of oaks, willows and wild honeysuckle, just a mile from the sands and surf of Widemouth Bay.

In good weather - the bar, shop and pool are open from Whitsun until the end of August - guests tend to lounge about on the sunbeds at Budemeadows Touring Park around the suntrap pool, which is heated to a lovely toasty temperature (there’s a paddling pool for baby bathers too). Once everyone has dried out, the young’uns can romp in the adventure play area, play at Honey, I shrunk the kids with a game of giant chess, battle it out on the outdoor table tennis table, or simply stroll through the surrounding countryside, where there are regular sightings of otter, deer and even the odd llama...

At busier times, hot brekkies and evening meals are served, and there’s also a bar, TV and games room and a licensed shop that sells essential holiday kit and toys, as well as groceries. (The takeaway is open for Whitsun and the main summer holiday period only.)

Budemeadows has a variety of pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, both with and without electricity. They’re nicely landscaped with hedging and picket fences, and some of the grassy pitches are underpinned with wooden battens, so they cope well in all weathers. The key facilities are pristinely clean with abundant free hot water, decent family showers and a full-size tub for bathing beauties.

    nothing really!!!!

Only one toilet block open, dated block, toilet roll 2 inches wide, last time we ever used that was in Benidorm in rented appartments. Most of all needs to be pointed out, which is why we went there is the free wifi they advertise, the weather had not been good the previous weeks we had been touring, the site was £42 dearer than the previous site we stayed on the week before, and £40 dearer than the next site we were going to, so we thought would be nice to have wifi and assumed this was why the site was so much more expensive, my husband had spent 26 years in the Sussex Police Force, the last 4 years in the fraud dept. He advised me that this is indeed false advertising. BUDEMEADOWS ADVERTISE FREE WIFI!!!! WHEN YOU ARRIVE THEY GIVE YOU A VOUCHER WITH 350 MB,S ON IT, AND TELL YOU THIS WILL LAST FOR A WEEK!!!!! MINE LASTED 3 HOURS, WHEN I APPROACHED THEM ABOUT IT, THEY SAID THEY WERE DEFINITELY CORRECT AND IT WOULD LAST A WEEK!!!!! "RUBBISH" SO I SUGGEST THAT THEY RE-ADVERTISE, THIS IN FACT IS NOT FREE WIFI AT ALL, AND THEY ARE FALSELY ADVERTISING FREE WIFI LEADING POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS TO BELIEVE THEY ARE GOING TO GET "FREE WIFI"

Local attractions

The site is close to the A39, so all the delights of Cornwall and north Devon are in easy reach. There are two great beaches at Bude, four miles away - it’s a popular and relatively unspoiled resort, where visitors will find pretty much every kind of sporting activity they fancy, plus all the usual amenities.

Big kids and little kids alike go baa-baa over the Big Sheep’s daft but delightful animal action, while spaced out teens will enjoy the thrills of the Milky Way theme park. Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park is another popular choice for all-weather fun.

Clippety-clop with the donkeys around the cobbled streets of the beautiful fishing village of Clovelly, or follow in the footsteps of television’s Doc Martin at Port Isaac, the location for his fictional home of Port Wenn.
