My son and I were looking for a simple site, within 90 minutes from home (South Hertfordshire), where we could have a fire and cook our food over it. We arrived at the site on a Friday evening in late April and met Mat, Becky and Rosie within five minutes of arriving. They couldn't have been more friendly and everything was as expected and hoped for. The portaloo was exceptionally clean, the field itself was level and relatively soft under foot without too many stones, and the surrounding countryside was beautiful. Horsham town centre is less than a half hour walk away and the Downs Link bridle way is a 15 minute cycle ride away. My son and I had a lovely time away from normality and will certainly be back at some point. Mat, Becky and Rosie supplied a fire pit and logs at reasonable prices and we had the entire site to ourselves the first night and shared it with just one other couple the second night. Highly recommended if you want simplicity and don't want to travel far from London or the South East of England.

Supper friendly owners for more natural campsite 31/08/2016

The owners were super friendly, and even allowed us to stay after normal checkout to allow tents to dry.

This is perfect for groups who want the more minimalistic approach to camping as facility was very basic. however, if you enjoy sitting round a campfire and going hiking this is the perfect place.

They also told us not to rush off on our last day, just enjoy yourself & let the morning dew dry before u pack your tent. Again so lovely & frendly!! WE ARE PLANNING NEXT TRIP ALREADY!!!

    Disliked:

We missed a text from the lady Becky to say don't rush off stay another night at a cut price. Gutted as we would have loved to!!

We liked the freedom of turning up on site, choosing our own pitch. The owners and their family were wonderful, they came round in the evening and morning to check if you needed anything, collected your rubbish bags, sold fire wood, milk and icecream from their sheep dairy nearby. They were warm, welcoming and friendly. After a very rainy night we received a text message the following morning (when we were due to go home) advising that we were welcome to stay a little longer to dry our equipment out before packing away, or if we wanted to, we could stay another night at a discounted price! Great customer service!!

There are 3/4 portaloos which are kept VERY clean and tidy. There was plenty of loo roll and hand sanitizer available also.

As a group of 6, we really loved this site and would definitely be returning again.

    Disliked:

The grass was quite long and got stung by a few stinging nettles.

Simple set up but very nice and really lovely staff 30/08/2016

A very simple pleasant field - simple facilities of a tap and two very clean and presentable portaloos.

Little wooded area at the back of the field which was fun for the kids to have a wander and play through.

Staff were really lovely, delivered the firepit and sold the logs, also had some rather nice homemade sheep's milk ice cream for sale and frozen sheep's milk for the morning.

Only niggle I'd have (is is VERY minor) is that the hand sanitizer in the toilet was either empty or broken and would be handy if some solar light of some description could be fitted into the toilets for at night, but really, these are quibbles which can easily be sorted with your own light and sanitiser.

Would recommend for a quick night or two away.

Lovely field surrounded by woods. Small field for 10 pitches maximum so it will not get overcrowded. Normal wild camping facilities of one tap and 2 portaloos but both very clean. Near a fairly quiet lane. The friendliest owners for whom nothing is too much trouble. They run a sheep milk farm and are happy to sell you the the products such as milk and ice cream. They are lovely.

Very quiet campsite, good location as it's near a tesco and a few nice pubs if you want to have a trip away. Located next to a nice little forest for a bit of exploration and firewood collection. The perfect campsite for a cheap getaway.

Such a lovely site, so peaceful despite being just a mile or so to shops should you need them.
We loved the woods and the kids loved the sheep in the field next door. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and it was the perfect place to simply hang out and unwind!
The porta loos were very clean and it was great to be able to hire the fire pit and logs.

    Disliked:

Slightly overpriced for what it is but that's simply a comment and won't stop us returning.

It was very quiet when we stayed and we chose to pitch with our accompanying family down the bottom of the field near the 2 portaloos (which were clean) and the 1 tap and close to the hedges that led through to the woods so the children could play in there! The kids absolutely loved this and it gave us adults some quieter times too! We also loved the hiring of a firepit and logs provided! This is literally a field, in a quiet rural spot with 2 loos/1 tap so very basic but fine for 2-3nts.

    Disliked:

There should perhaps be a note that to get into the woods, you have to cross a small brook that in places has some very deep sides which may not be suitable for young children - luckily our littlies didn't venture over there much. Also it's possibly a little overpriced for what it is, considering that you could pay £5-8 more per night for a site with many more facilities but we liked the wild/pitch where you like aspect which made up for this.
