General

  • Farm site with spectacular views of the Surrey countryside
  • Wildlife haven: spot species from the site
  • Barbecues allowed

'Red sky at night, campers’ delight?' That might not be exactly how the saying goes, but you won’t give a hoot when goggling at the gorgeous scarlet sunset at Osney Lodge Farm.

Plonk yourself down on a camping chair on this peaceful spacious site and gape about you at the pitch-perfect views… remembering to stay very still so you won’t frighten off any of the rabbits, foxes and occasional deer that wander around the site, not to mention the resident buzzards cawing above…

Once you can make yourself move and the kids are clamouring to be fed, fire up the barbie for supper: self-contained barbecues and raised fires are A-OK here, and the farm sells self-contained burners if you haven’t brought your own kit.

Pitches at Osney Lodge are grass and have modern amenities: chemical waste disposal, fresh drinking water and separate toilets for ladies and gents.

If you’ve forgotten anything else or run out of essential gear, Osney is a mile down the lane from one of the biggest camping centres in the south-east for easy stocking up. And don't miss the ever popular campsite buggy which makes its way around the site two or three times a day to sell ice lollies, soft drinks, kindling and logs – and a tasty selection of cider and real ales personally tested and selected by the owner: how highly considerate.

The park is only eight minutes away from the Jolly Farmer pub for traditional beer and cider and a five-minute drive to the seventeenth century Fox and Hound for some of the best pub grub around. Once you get off your camping chair, that is...

Loved the simplicity, back to the routes of camping, no posh showers, bars, pools.. Just a field (thankfully with toilets lol) surrounded by fields, woods and farmland, the occasional jet flying over which is pretty interesting but no problem
Overall we loved it and a thank you to the owners

    Disliked:

Nothing at all, we come back every year! Easy to book too!

Very nice place to relax and get away from the rat race! Literally because you're in a field with no gimmicks or side shows! So nice watching the planes overhead and watching the sunset.

    Disliked:

Would be nice to have showers and slightly less rustic toilets, but no complaints to be honest.

All of us thoroughly enjoyed are trip to Osney Lodge Farm. We stayed for two nights. The facilities were excellent and the woods around the field were perfecting for collecting fire wood for the evenings. All the staff were very helpful and can round to see soon after we arrived. The reception were also very helpful , whenever we called they would answer straight away and come to the tent if we needed to. Finally the price was very reasonable. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would love to return in the future.

    Disliked:

The only thing that we thought that could be improved was that the fire pits to hire were quite pricey and we all agreed that 5£ for the whole trip would be reasonable rather than every night.

From the manager...

Pricey ! For £5.00 we deliver the basket to the tent and when its finished with collect it empty it and clean it. Meanwhile our guests stand on them, bend them, pull the legs off of them etc giving them an effective life of only one season. If they survive this ordeal they are just as likely to be pinched. With 4 adults sharing the basket that has cost them £1.25 each for the whole evening. That buys me just under a third of a pint of beer which i struggle to make last more than 5 minutes. So for me to get the same enjoyment from my beer as you get for your basket for the 6 hours you used it i would need to charge £112.50 per night !
So the result of my in depth investigation into your complaint is that your balance is £107.50 :-).
However since you wrote us such a lovely review and you're planning to return i am happy to write this off and i'll buy you a beer next visit !!

Large and very tranquil site. Fabulous views. Huge amounts of space. Friendly and efficient campsite owner who made several visits to check guests had everything they needed and was able to supply logs and kindling for fire pit as well as cider and real ale for us to enjoy a fantastic Saturday night! Even tipped us off about the local firework display of which we had fantastic views - pleased the kids no end! Highly recommended, will definitely return.

    Disliked:

Local attractions

Make Lingfield village your first stop when you leave the farm, to amble around the sixteenth and eighteenth century buildings as part of a Surrey history tour that can also take in the Old Mill windmill an hour’s walk from Osney, and Leeds Castle, Penshurst Place and Hever Castle reachable from a quick trip in the car.

Also recommended is saying ‘Oh yes’ to Chartwell, Winston Churchill’s family home, where the kids can muck around in the Marycot playhouse built for the youngest Churchill daughter.

The kids will also go gaga for Godstone Farm & Playbarn in the Surrey hills, where littlies can help to feed the pigs and ducks, pet the rabbits and learn how to properly groom a pony before clambering on the tractors and trains, tackling the zip slides and getting lost in the mazes.

The British Wildlife Centre is recommended for bigger litties into their animals, as it has over 40 different native species to spot and events including keeper talks and photography workshops.

Other attractions in the area include Lingfield Park Racecourse, chuffing along in the countryside on the Bluebell Railway or getting active with countryside walks, sailing, kayaking, golf and fishing all nearby.
