General

Woof. That’s your dog telling you to book a long long Lingfield stay: the pitches at family-run Long Acres Caravan and Camping Park are perfectly pet-friendly with no extra charges for man’s best friend – and there are lots of options for walkies in the surrounding Surrey countryside too.

Whether using Long Acres to be walked by the dog or as a base to see the attractions of Surrey, human campers are also in for a treat at this friendly well-maintained park: there’s a well-stocked tourist information kiosk, communal games available to borrow at reception, and two spotless centrally heated loo and shower blocks. For food, Lingfield village with its shops, pubs, restaurants, takeaways and supermarkets is a mile away.

There's a communal fire pit in the centre of the campsite available for everyone to use: wood can be bought for a small charge. Why not make some new friends and enjoy a summer's evening?

Pitches at Long Acres come with a choice of electric hook-up and are available for tourers and motorhomes – and did we mention there’s no charge for the family pooch…?

The early morning aeroplanes!! The pitch we were on was a tad small for a large tent but maybe there were bigger pitches.

From the manager...

Thank you so much for your great review, we love it when people have enjoyed themselves. we do have a few larger tent pitches so when you book again, and we hope you do, please request one. Sorry about the planes, unfortunately that is beyond our control. Hope we see you again soon.

Well laid out clean and well run site with superb facilities. We loved it.

    Disliked:

Not so much a dislike just an annoyance that the 50p shower charge exists. Put the pitch price up a little to incorporate it please. The planes from gatwick may annoy others but we found it more a curiosity.

From the manager...

Thank you for our ten out of ten! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and found our site clean and tidy. Part of the reason for having a 50p charge on the shower is so the water will stop running when the money runs out - otherwise people have a tendency to leave the water running!
Hope to see you again soon!

Travelled from Sheffield for a one night stay so my husband could get an early morning flight from Gatwick.
Lovely friendly welcome from the owner/ warden who had plenty of knowledge of the area. Escorted to our pitch - large hard standing with EHU.
Nice walk through the fields (about 10 to 15 mins) to the wiremill pub - a lakeside setting with good food
Best shower/toilet block I have ever seen. Separate shower cubicles with monsoon shower, toilet and washbasin. Decorated to a really high standard.
    Price very reasonable.
Taxi firm recommended by the owner took my husband to the airport for £16 - very impressive service
    Extremely dog friendly

    Disliked:

Wish we lived a bit closer as would use this site more often

From the manager...

How clean everything was and kept that way through a busy bank holiday weekend.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating allowing us to change our pitch.
We were up the meadow end this was especially nice, very dog friendly.
Shower blocks were great these and the loos all spotless
There were some nice walks to be had around the site, especially to The Wiremill pub which was a nice treat & well within walking distance, pooch friendly also and the food was great.

    Disliked:

If I had to say something and its nothing really the campsite can do about it is the Aircraft noise which to be fair we only really noticed the first morning, this was also dependant on which way the wind blew, plus after awhile you didn't really notice it as much.

From the manager...

Thank you for your lovely review, we are glad you enjoyed your bank holiday weekend with us and hope you will visit again soon!

Local attractions

Don’t lose your head with the huge range of historical highlights in the area, starting with thirteenth century Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn (boo to Henry Eight) and with award-winning gardens, water maze with a mind of its own and what will probably be the fave of the kids – a thirteenth century gatehouse with historical instruments of execution and torture. Standen, a National Trust property at nearby Grinstead, has a hillside setting around an arts and crafts house with work by William Morris.

Gardens more your thing? Wander around the world woodlands at Wakeland Place, managed by the Royal Gardens at Kew and the setting for much of Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of As You Like It, or take a look at Wisley, the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society.

Horses? We bet you’ll like Lingfield Park Racecourse, one of only five all-weather racecourses in the country and with race meetings all year round. Or how about other types of beasties – Surrey is stuffed with animal parks, wildlife centres and farms: Lingfield’s British Wildlife Centre with 40 native species, Farnham’s Birdworld (with penguins) and the farm park Hobbledown for starters – or the zoo and Sea Life Centre at Chessington World of Adventures.

Not that a visit to the racecourse coincides with this, but if you’re looking for free things to do around Long Acres and in Surrey, again the area is stuffed with options including walks among the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and chalky North Downs, drooling with envy at Mercedes Benz World or learning about Lewis Carroll at Guildford Museum.
