Somewhere to stay with a sea view? If that sounds like your sort, take a look at Seaview Holiday Park, on the Kent coast halfway between Whitstable and Herne Bay. This is a firmly family-friendly place, with an outdoor pool, amusement arcade and adventure play area to keep the kids happy, if not necessarily quiet… The park's clubhouse bar and restaurant are family friendly too, with wifi in the clubhouse for anyone that needs it. Other amenities are plentiful too at this well-maintained park, with a mini mart, launderette, drying room and parent and baby washroom. Once you’re suitably relaxed and ready to explore off site, the nearest beach is a mile and a half away and an indoor pool and sailing are within reach. Whitstable and Herne Bay are a couple of miles from the park in either direction, to browse around for oyster-eating, more watersports and a plethora of pubs and restaurants.

Camping pod

Liked: In a wonderful location, right by the sea. Can walk to herne bay or Whitstable. The pool was a great temperature and the lifeguard was really friendly and helpful, you can only have one slot of 45 minutes booked swimming, yet the ladies lifeguard (sorry don't know her name) said you can always check on other sessions as some people don't turn up etc and if that's the case you can have another swim. We stayed in a pod and they are cute little things. Bedding was supplied and there was a table with folding chairs. The pod is a fab idea and much easier and convenient, takes the hassle out of putting a tent up! On site was a little shop attached to the reception, the pool, play area, small arcade and the club house, which serves food. Its a lovely little site, great for a few days stay to explore the coastal areas.we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful part of Kent.

Disliked: Unfortunately, you can't book in till 4pm which make you lose a day in my eyes. The pod wasn't clean, the dust around the edges and under the beds was thick, cobwebs above the door. I informed reception regarding the dirt in pod but no one came to clean it. Arcade machines kept braking down and is a very small area only about 15 machines and an air hockey table. The showers was dirty, tapes in sinks kept getting stuck on, they wasn't hard to turn off, just needed to pull them up, unfortunately some people just left them running! On 3 occasions I walking in to and see the running tapes.so of course turned them off!something that could be fixed easily.

Liked: Pod was ok and close to beach.

Disliked: Toilet and shower facilities were disappointing, very dirty and grubby and only swept they were not cleaned properly with disinfectant, could do with a deep clean and scrub.

Camping pod

Liked: Great location! The pods were lovely and the site had everything we needed. So close to the beach and was very easy to find.

Disliked: The only downfall was the lack of implementation of keeping dogs on lead. We bought our dog with us and he was on lead the whole time but most others were letting their dogs roam free. We had 2 dogs even walk into our pod while we were trying to prepare food and by the end of the weekend there was dog mess all around the pods like a minefield. Such a shame as this was the only negative we experienced.

Local attractions

A short drive from Seaview will take you to the best of Kent for all kens: ancient castles, cathedral cities, coastal walks, family days out and lots more fishing are all easily had from here. Nearby Canterbury is a must for Canterbury Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in England, the place of Thomas Becket’s demise and the setting for Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. There’s also Kent’s International Arts Festival in October, shopping along the King’s Mile, boat trips along the Stour and walking trails and guided walks along the cobbled streets. The 14-mile track of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway runs across Romney Marsh for steamy sightseers, while for pedal pushers there’s the award-winning Crab and Winkle Way cycle route along the old railway between Canterbury and Whitstable. You can walk it too, but remember to stop off for a picnic in the forest enroute… Kids can swing through the treetops from the zipwires at Leeds Castle’s Go Ape, while their keepers watch the castle’s peacocks preening about; there are falconry displays, two mazes, boat trips and more at the castle itself. Elsewhere in Kent for the kids, they can go wild at Howletts Wild Animal Park, which has the biggest group of gorillas under human care in the world, or bounce on the giant jumping pillows (yes, really) at Paddock Wood’s Hop Farm Family Park.
