We stayed on the non electric field near the river, helpfulness of staff, ease of booking, able to pitch right down by the river and launch our kayak and go fishing, peaceful location, near to visit the hop farm, car boot sale, loved it all. We will be back very soon.

    Long uneven grass

From the manager...

Thank you for adding your comment.

We have 500 acres of free camping land which we are unable to cut while campers are on the fields. As I'm sure you can appreciate, we cut using tractors and health and safety is our prime concern. Prior to your visit we had long spells of rain which effected the cutting process.

Grass was too long which played havoc with my children's hayfever.
Drone being flown grom electric hook up that kept hovering over our campsite.

From the manager...

Thank you for visiting The Hop Farm.

We are glad that you enjoyed your camping experience, so much so that you will visit again. Regarding drones, we have a strict no flying policy due to the privacy and nature of our campers, and will always put in our best effort to ensure that they are not in operation. The operator was spoken to during their stay but we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

We had a fabulous time at the Hop farm, great space, good facilities. Just what we wanted for a weekend break with friends.

    Disliked:

The Grass being too long, and unfortunately 2 of our party suffer from Hayfever , but we’re taken quiet poorly.

There was a family on the electric hook ups that had a drone, which was flying for long period of time. Above us, this was very unsettling as we had foster children with us, having to take them out of the area of freedom whilst playing.

From the manager...

Thank you fro your comments.

Due to poor weather conditions we have not been able to cut the grass as much as we would have liked, as you can appreciate 500 acres takes a while to get to a descent level. This is currently being rectified.
The operator of the drone was spoken to as we have a no fly policy on site.

Big and level pitches 17/06/2019

  • Liked:

Big sized pitches. Lots of water points and level pitches.
Great car boot on in the field next door.
It wasn't very busy so we had lots of room to play and spread out.

    Disliked:

Signage to the campsite wasn't very clear and I ended up going the wrong way and having to reverse my car and caravan to get out which wasn't easy.
Unless you pay to go into the actual Hop Farm Family Park there is no play area for the kids but as we came with a big group of friends they kept themselves amused which was fine.
The new shower block was disappointing. There are lots of showers and the water was hot and powerful but you get one hook outside the door. Therefore, unsure how you are meant to get dry and dressed when your clothes and towel are the other side of the shower!! Next time I will use my caravan shower for ease.
There was however a long bench with hooks so maybe you are meant to walk to the other end of the block to that and get dressed (which is right near the open entrance door and in front of anyone that may be coming in to have a shower or go to the toilet?
Looks like they are doing lots of works at the moment so there was quite a lot of bits dug up and pot holes to avoid.

Local attractions

Once the kids let you off site, Garden of England Kent has beaches, historic towns, forests and more castles, stately homes (and gardens) open to the public than anywhere else in the country. If this isn't enough, Paddock Wood railway station is five minutes’ drive from The Hop Farm for a train to London, less than an hour away. Dover is within 60 miles for a day trip to France.

Kent has 350 miles of coastline, with Blue Flag beaches, watersports and those famous white cliffs at Dover. Eight of the 11 Blue Flaggers are in Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs; Whitstable and Herne Bay are also popular with oyster eaters, anglers and jetskiers.

There are umpteen options for families in the area including play centres, farms, horse riding and days out. Howletts Wild Animal Park at Canterbury has the biggest group of looked-after gorillas in the world and experiences for visitors such as junior ranger days. Penshurst Place and Gardens has historical re-enactments, children’s trails, an adventure playground and special events during the school holidays.

Both Leeds Castle at Maidstone and Hever Castle near Edenbridge are family-friendly and packed with activities and events. There’s a Go Ape! at Leeds Castle as well as two mazes, boat trips, falconry displays, underground grotto and the Knights' Realm Playground, a scale model of the castle (and a golf course and golf instruction for the grownups). Hever, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, has a yew maze and water maze, award-winning gardens and a topiary.

Back with the big folk, the old market towns of Tonbridge, Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Wells are close by for shopping and sightseeing. Bluewater shopping centre is in Greenhithe (rival Lakewater is just over the Essex border at West Thurrock).
