  • Woodland site with a warm welcome, in an AONB high on Kent's Downs
  • On the doorstep of Kent County Showground ten minutes from Maidstone
  • Grassy level site with a pick of sunny or shady pitches

Oftentimes, when the kids are running you ragged, a holiday sounds very much Oak-ay. So it's splendid that all sorts of stuff is soothing about Scragged Oak Caravan Park high on Kent's chalkland North Downs, run by very hospitable Jan and Harry and managed by the Kent County Agricultural Society.

Scragged Oak is right next to the events and shows of the Kent County Showground, in a woodland setting in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's a ten-minute drive to Maidstone; about 13 miles to the sea, and a quick drive to some of Kent's most oaky-dokey attractions like the castles of Leeds and Rochester.

Jan and Harry will see you settled with a warm welcome on the grassy level camping area where you can take your pick of pitching up in the sun or the shade and of a pitch with or without electric hook-up. Dogs are welcome all year.

The loo and shower block is newly built and has free hot water; the site also has a launderette, waste disposal points and a shop selling essentials. And yet another soothing Scragged Oak fact? The newly installed bread oven will have you welcomed with fresh baked goods every morning of your stay.

Open from 1 March to 31 October
