General

  • Quiet, rural and spacious site on a working farm
  • On the North Downs Way surrounded by fields and woodland
  • Free-range eggs and fresh apple juice for sale

Fancy a peaceful Kentish sojourn, with loads of space for all to run around, and with walks and bike rides all around? Dunn.

Dunn Street Farm is a working farm above the village of Westwell near Ashford, surrounded by hills and woodland. It's a topping stop for hikers and bikers – the 153-mile North Downs Way passes through the farm – and for kids, as there's heaps of space to run around/play games on site and it's about ten miles from the critters of Port Lympne Wild Animal Park.

(Small sorts will likely like a look at the Dunn Street Farm critters too: sheep, cattle and horses in the surrounding fields, and chickens and goats in the paddocks around the farmyard.)

Amenities are simple but clean: loos, showers and washing-up facilities are in the farmyard between the two camping fields.

Guests can buy free-range eggs produced by the farm's chickens and apple juice from the family's fruit farm near Maidstone; for further supplies, Westwell and local pub the Wheel Inn are less than ten minutes' walk away. The villages of Charing and Challock with cafés and shops are within ten minutes' drive.

Small site on a working farm. Friendly and helpful owners. Fresh eggs, Apple and pear juice, firewood and charcoal available. Open fires allowed with proper care. Basic facilities. Level pitches. Would visit again. Great access to Pilgrims / North Downs Way. Good easy walking.

    Disliked:

Near to M20 and M2 so traffic noise can be heard.

Everything was great, people were very friendly and informative. Would recommend this site for those wanting peace and quiet.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike but more signage to the site may help.

From the manager...

Thanks for the kind review. A couple of our signs have been damaged over the summer and need replacing, I will get them sorted over the winter.

It was very quiet and the owners left us to our own devices , free showers were definitely an added advantage , the owner was very helpful and polite should you need help .

    Disliked:

    Not having a shop .

From the manager...

Thanks for the review. We had a well stocked shop and honesty box running over the summer but didn't sell enough to justify the staffing costs of running a shop onsite.

    Friendliness of man running site

    Disliked:

If you have used a Caravan Club Site you would be disappointed. The approach is down at heel. You could not park by van'. The grass was long. It is also expensive with an extra £5 for electricity which I am sure we did not use

From the manager...

Great review, full of useful information and not even a hint of subjectivity.

Having recently got our campervan we wanted to try it out for one night. This is a lovely quiet site on a working farm. You can buy eggs and pear and Apple juice. When we made eggs for breakfast we had 4 double yokes... that has to be record. You can also gmbuy firewood which is always a nice touch when it starts to get a bit nippy. Will be making a return in the future.

    Disliked:

My only suggestion for improvement would be the toilets as these are a little rustic but come as part of the charm

From junction 9 on the M20, follow the signs towards Ashford then at the next roundabout take the A20 towards Lenham.
