General

  • Award-winning park near Ashford
  • Large supermarket a few minutes away
  • Play areas, games room, herb garden and campers' kitchen

Action-packed family holiday or relaxing adults’ break? Have either at the award-winning Broadhembury Caravan and Camping Park.

Said kids can whirl around the play areas, which are set well back from pitches and the park roads; there’s a separate playground for the under-sevens as well as a roomy sports field and a games room for when the weather’s less than kind.

The most peaceful part of the park has spots to sit back at and watch the somewhat spectacular sunsets over this part of the world, or look out for the local rabbits, hares and badgers. Stargazing’s a nocturnal option from here too, as lighting is kept to a minimum on the park.

The amenities are spotless and up to date: centrally heated shower and toilet blocks, a family bathroom, babies’ room and an ensuite block for wheelchair users or guests with impaired mobility.

Cooking your own food? Broadhembury has a campers’ kitchen for the use of all guests, and a herb garden to sprinkle samples into your dinner; there’s also a shop on site selling essentials and a large supermarket a few minutes’ drive away. All this, and dogs are allowed too.

Excellent all round - impeccably clean- tidy - pleasant- 13/11/2017

The welcome was friendly and very helpful , being taken to pitch and upgraded to fully serviced pitch. The chap even helped me unhitch caravan and helped me reverse it in as I explained I’m still somewhat of a novice. Very friendly reception staff- unlocked reception out of hours to sort out WiFi. It’s these sort of things that raise the standards when people go out of their way above and beyond to help. The facilities were absolutely splendid and spotless. The best shower block we have seen so far on our admittedly few trips out. Lovely and warm, no button on shower just continuous hot water. Extremely clean and modern. I must say that I personally prefer to use our own shower but not so here. Fantastic. There is a kitchen for caravaners too with sinks , microwave, washing machine and drier. Again , spotless and heated. The whole grounds are beautifully maintained, not a thing out of place. Really can’t fault the place and wouldn’t want to. 5 * all round and thoroughly recommended.

    Disliked:

Not a thing. Tiny negative for me personally was WiFi not very good . I need it for business but I’m sure others don’t come away for the WiFi

The reception team were very informative and very polite and made us feel welcomed. They were very knowledgeable about the local area as we were looking to have lunch elsewhere.

The children's park area was well equipped and provided enough entertainment for the kids for several hours.

The neighbours were very considerate and obeyed the rules onsite and respected other people's privacy.

The facilities were good and provided a surprisingly good amount of facilities that I was not aware of, such as microwaves and a huge chest fridge and freezer.

    Disliked:

The weather, although that's not the campsites fault. Even though the toilets/shower rooms were clean, it would be better if there were more family rooms available.

Free wifi would have been ideal

Centrally located to visit Kent 15/08/2017

Friendly staff. Clean toilets. Great showers. Nice playing area for kids. Close to shops in Ashford and M20. Camp site is about 30 minute drive from Dover.
Close to the railway station that brings you in about one hour to London. There are many interesting places to visit in a circle of about 40 km around the camp site. We had an oversees visitors pass for the national trust and visited many NT properties.

    Disliked:

We were on the part of the camping for families with children. Would be nice if the pitches were a bit more spacious (perhaps we should have taken a larger one of 10x10, not sure if they are in the part on the camp site where we had our tent trailer).
No free WiFi. Not a problem for me, because I always use my cell, but probably good to mention here. I feel that this service should be included, at least in the game room.
We could hear the traffic (A2070) at approx. 500 meters from the camp site. It is not an awful lot of noise, but good to be aware of when booking for a longer period. The other part of the camp site is quieter.
The likes outmatch the dislikes. Overall, we were happy with this camp site and had a good time.

Local attractions

It’s not for nowt that Kent’s known as the Garden of England: over 180 gardens are in the county to pick from to suit all seasons and sorts.

Have a cream tea at the Secret Gardens of Sandwich, with free entry from December to February; tour the orchards and sample the wares at Brogdale, home to the National Fruit Collection; or visit former royal haunt Lullingstone Castle to see the famous World Gardens – and Queen Anne’s bathhouse in the castle grounds.

Kids not impressed with green-fingered sightseeing? The beaches of Kent are within easy driving distance of Broadhembury: take them to the amusement park at the seaside resort of Dymchurch or to scramble around the second largest shingle formation in the world at Dungeness Beach.

To see the coast with a nostalgic twist, the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is the world’s smallest public railway and has regular events and train-driving experiences alongside its regular routes. The Kent & East Sussex Railway goes from Tenterden through the Rother Valley to Bodiam: stop off here for a look around the looming medieval moated castle.

The long-distance path the Greensand Way passes through the nearby village of Kingsnorth for walking and cycling: follow it to the next stop at Hamstreet or double back along part of its 108-mile length towards Haslemere in Surrey.

The old market town of Ashford has a designer outlet for retail therapy and a weekly street market, with leisure centres, swimming pools, a museum and the Rare Breeds Centre for rainy days. Several golf clubs are in the area too, with the closest at Kingsnorth.

For day trips, Canterbury is a half hour's drive away, with gawping at the historic cathedral for grown-ups and meeting the inhabitants at Wingham Wildlife Park for kids; history buffs can also take a trip to Leeds and Dover Castles, and cruise along to Chartwell, the former home of Winston Churchill.

Or hop on a train to the museums, galleries and sights of London: the high-speed train reaches the capital from here in less than forty minutes.
