General

  • Friendly family park less than a mile from Shanklin
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, playground, bar and restaurant
  • Live entertainment all year at sister park next door

If you’re looking for a smallish holiday park in a quieter and relaxed location, but with easy access to a good range of facilities, have a butcher’s at Landguard Holiday Park on the Isle of Wight.

This friendly site, set in pretty woodland, has its own outdoor and indoor pools (plus curly whirly slide), a good playground and activity clubs for children up to the age of 11, amusements, a bar, restaurant and takeaway.

Venture off site to the nearby seaside resort of Shanklin (less than one mile away) for sandy beaches, arcades, and entertainment aplenty.

In peak season, there are family shows in the evenings in the Jesters Club: at quieter times, guests have access to Landguard’s sister site next door, Lower Hyde Holiday Park, which has live entertainment all year.

This site is a member of Parkdean Resorts group.

Shanklin is a beautiful town and had all the amenities required for our stay. At camp, we were greeted by Kevin and Alison who were super friendly, helpful and approachable at any time, day and evening, they were around all the time for any requests. The campsite was clean and tidy and had good shops and leisure areas, the breakfast deals were good value at restaurants. Evening entertainment was brilliant, the kids loved it, the Troupers in particular Jordan, Dan and Chloe were hilarious, enthusiastic and energetic keeping the fun going all evening. The camp area was in a delightful setting amongst the trees and the kids and us saw wildlife including a fox, rabbits, robin, woodpecker and crows. In general all the staff we encountered were polite, helpful and friendly. It was also nice and quiet as Kevin and Alison ensured the quiet time rule was adhered to and rigorously enforced.

Thank you for your fantastic review of Landguard.

It is really pleasing to read you enjoyed your stay with us albeit the noise of other guests returning in the evening which I can only apologise for.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Landguard Holiday Park. We are sorry that your were disappointed with our Touring break. Our Touring wardens do work tirelessly to keep the toilet facilities clean and tidy but appreciate that some guests can be disrespectful to other guests when using the facilities. Chemical and temperature checks are regularly carried out on the Pools and logged to ensure they are correctly maintained. Any filter or temperature issues noted would result in the Pools being closed. With regards to the website Parkdean resorts do show an overview of the site and apologise if you feel this was misleading.

Price was reasonable & electrical hookup good.

    Disliked:

Where do I start? Toilet block dated, showers dirty & toilets themselves frequently dirty. Rules on no noise after 1pm not adhered to. Pitch sloped as well. I wouldnt recommend to anyone. Also had to pay for WiFi!

From the manager...

Thank you for your review. Our Touring holidays are reasonably priced for electric hook up and we also offer Free Ferry travel for 14 nights in the peak holiday period which is very beneficial. We are sorry to read that you felt the touring facilities were not clean as we do have 2 cleaners and two touring wardens who work tirelessly to keep the toilet block clean. Lower Hyde is in a hilly location so some of our pitches do have a slight incline but if this should be an issue to guests they should bring it to the attention of the Touring Reception who may be able to relocate you or assist in any way. WIFI is now Park wide which was only available in the Restaurant in all previous years but there is a charge as in many accommodation outlets. We apologise for any disturbance you had due to other guests. Our Security Team patrol the site at night and their number is issued to guests on arrival so that they can be contacted if any issues. Thank you again for your feedback.

Noise from the club too late way after 11.30pm, general noise of dogs barking most of the time lots of smoking near outdoor swimming pool and drinking.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to read that you were happy with the cleanliness and location of the site but am sorry to note your disappointment regarding some aspects. Our Clubhouse can be open up until midnight if the entertainment is scheduled to do so but apologise if this caused you some disturbance. With regards to the dogs on site it is a shame this was not reported to the Touring Wardens or Security Team who would have been able to speak with the owners who should not leave dogs unattended at any time and looked after them appropriately. We thankyou once again for your comments.

Also well worth a trip are Alum Bay, famed for its rainbow sands, the stone Needles, chair lift and other family attractions; and the Victorian seaside town of Ventnor, a favourite holiday spot of Charles Dickens, with its 22 acres of beaut botanic gardens.
