Indulge your inner Doctor Doolittle at this working farm, where the creature conversationalists include water buffaloes, alpacas and micro pigs, as well as more common farm breeds, birds and small pets. You can even try talking to the tiddlers: the beach is only a hundred yards away down the coastal path. Good sea fishing can be had on the beach: bring your rod.
Visitors to Grange Farm can take their pick of level, well-drained electric or non-electric pitches in different locations and sizes. All have miles of lovely views, either out to sea, or inland across forested hills and the pretty village of Brighstone. The essential amenities include free hot showers, plus a coin-operated bath (£2), launderette and drinks machines; the shop is stocked with everything you could possibly need and the sizeable children’s playground has more than the average kit.
The site is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so the local terrain is great for ramblers, cyclists, anglers and fossil hunters alike.
A short walk away is Brighstone village, home to pubs, tea rooms and shops, including the only National Trust shop on the Isle of Wight, plus a park for the kids. On the outskirts of the village, visitors can uncover the Isle of White Pearl, home to the largest pearl jewellery collection in the country (warning: it could prove tricky to leave without a souvenir.)
The thrills and spills of the Blackgang Chine adventure park are about ten minutes away by car. Other recommendations include Chessel Pottery, where guests can decorate their own masterpiece, or just browse the shops and have an award-winning cream tea; and the Needles Park at Alum Bay, for a boat ride or chairlift view of the iconic rocks and lighthouse, a trip around a sweet factory or glass blowing studio, plus other family-oriented attractions and rides.
There’s an indoor pool, gym and exercise classes at the West Wight Leisure Centre in Freshwater (seven miles from the park), which also runs a programme of summer activities for children.
There are two ponds in Yafford for pond fishing.

From Fishbourne or Cowes, follow the signs to Newport's Coppins Bridge. At the roundabout take the town centre lane. Look for Morrisons near the bus station and at McDonald's take the right lane then the first turning left, for the main route out of town to Carisbrooke. From Carisbrooke take the A3323 road to Shorwell and Brighstone.
At Brighstone turn left at the church into New Road, at the end of this road, Grange Farm is in front of you.
From Yarmouth follow the signs to Freshwater Bay, at Freshwater Bay follow the A3055 for 5 miles until you pass the Isle of Wight Pearl. You'll pass a garage and we are the next turning on the right, opposite the turning to Brighstone Village.
Bus routes: if travelling from Newport, take the no.12 bus to Brighstone Village (walking past the church into New Road, about 0.75-mile walk to the coast).
The Island Explorer travels right around the coast, it stops outside our farm entrance.

Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
