Meadow Tree Farm: Tents among the trees

General

  • Rural dog-friendly adults-only site in Sherfield English
  • Half an hour's drive from Salisbury and 10 minutes from the New Forest
  • Cosy country pub within a 15-minute stroll

To Hampshire for a holiday in a rather relaxed kid-free spot? Meadow Tree Farm is a friendly adults-only site spread over 21 acres on the edge of the village of Sherfield English, about 10 minutes' drive from Romsey.

There's plenty of space for you (and any doggie companions you may have brought along) to chill out on site and, most importantly, a cosy country pub a gentle 15-minute stroll away. Fishing lakes are next door and there are fab trails for ramblers and cyclists a few miles away in the New Forest National Park.

Back at base the laidback vibe is preserved by keeping facilities to a minimum, but the essentials are all in place, including toilets, showers and a washing-up area.

Sounds good? You'd better be quick: Meadow Tree Farm is a pop-up site that's only open for a limited amount of time each year.

Please note

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Guests under the age of 21 are not allowed on site.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Single-sex bookings of 10 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

A cable measuring at least 5 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

There is no reception on-site: on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Meadow Tree Farm allows large groups, including stag and hen parties. While every effort is made to ensure the comfort of all guests, please be aware that some noise should sometimes be expected.

Choosing your own pitch and the setting was beautiful, easy to find location and a friendly and informative greeting upon arival.

    Disliked:

As an adults only campsite I assumed (in this case wrongly) it was for grown ups who wanted a more peaceful time away. Unfortunately it seemed to be more the place for 'adults' to let loose, smoke weed, swear very loudly, and where multiple groups ignored the noise curfew. This is a party site, which is great if that's what you want from your adults only experience. Unisex toilets weren't an issue apart from the muddy and wet floor, and the toilet paper being left on the side by the sinks so it was too wet to use. Though 1 unisex shower with quite a small door left us feeling uncomfortable. It was such a shame we encountered the people we did as the setting of this place is beautiful and we would have liked to be able to return.

We chose this campsite based on adults only, and the fact we could have an open fire - and it was just perfect. We loved the park where you like style and it meant our group could set up in a circle in the corner not to bother anyone with our music. Everyone was very friendly and the campsite was super relaxed which is exactly what we wanted. We only stayed one night as we were testing our new camper van with friends but I’m sure we will return :)

The site is really pretty amongst the trees. You turn up and pick where you want to set up which I really like, not like some sites where each pitch is allocated and measured out. It's also quite private in certain spots. I also like the fact that car's are not kept by the camping area, adds to the beauty.
The owners are really relaxed about dog's (as long as they are under control) which was great. As an adult's campsite we did wonder if it would be rowdy but it wasn't at all. A few group's (ours included) were up quiet late but it was never very noisy and the owner did say she goes round if the noise is excessive but we never felt it was needed.

    Disliked:

The bathroom/shower was basic but the hot water did run out. Would get in early if you want a hot shower!

We loved the laid back vibe at Meadows Tree Farm. Our two dogs were allowed off lead and loved their short holiday. The facilities are quite basic but the essentials are in place. The campsite has a lovely wooded area which is very scenic and we liked the fire pits which you can hire and forage for wood on the site. It’s also very good value at £20 a night for a basic camper van pitch. We would definitely stay again.
