General

  • Access to Hurn Forest two miles from the New Forest
  • Free showers, seasonal shop, launderette
  • Use the leisure facilities of sister site Oakdene nearby

It's not just any forest that edges Forest Edge Holiday Park. As you might guess from its location in Hampshire's Ringwood, it's near the New Forest, the ancient and woody expanse that was once the hunting ground of kings. The park has access to Hurn Forest which is in turn two miles from the New Forest – and as you might know if you have kids, Peppa Pig can be found around these parts too.

Forest Edge is on nine acres of grassland and has level, well-drained pitches near the site's water point. Each pitch is individually marked and has space for an awning, sun loungers and barbecue if you want to bring these along – do go on...

The site has a seasonal shop with off-licence, Calor gas service, public phones, a launderette and free showers.

Please note that as Forest Edge is just off the A31, some pitches may experience traffic noise.

    Clean facilities.
    Comfortable grass (thin sleeping mats).
Friendly staff, particularly the groundskeeper, whom offered us coffees, as he could see how cold and miserable we were.
Free wifi in the middle of the camping pitch. Completely unexpected.

    Disliked:

Small but cozy! 06/09/2016

Good position site and a friendly welcome at reception. The pressure and temperature of the shower was also good.
The sister site provided most of our entertainment and the cafe/bar/restaurant was really good at Oakdene so we spent most of our 'on site time' here. To be fair, we only stayed for a long weekend and it rained most of the time so we went out the majority of our stay. The outdoor swimming pool and play area where good for the kids (also a bit small) and we could see them from our tent
Get new shower block and ill be back!!

    Disliked:

The thing that makes any site for me is the shower and toilets. The cleanliness was good but.... the shower cubicles where rather small!! In the gents still one cubicle not working and at least one seat broken, no room to change!
The grass area was a bit bear and had dips and a slight hill to the centre (plot 16).
As a regular camper I think that next time ill try a different site.

The kids pool and play area were nice and the staff are very friendly.

    Disliked:

Very noisy road nearby, toilet and shower blocks could of been cleaner, tent pitches were very cramped and the main children's entertainment was a long walk away across a busy road.

    Disliked:

Website stated 'you may hear some road noise' which I thought that'll be OK. Wrong you WILL hear road noise as it's right next to the A31, which is the main dual carriageway in the area and never lets up. So if your looking for peaceful, tranquil and to get away from it all this is not the place.
Pitches are small and incredibly close to one another and the ground rock hard.
Don't provide steps in the toilet block for little ones to be able to wash their hands independently- which isn't family friendly
