General

  • Eco site in the Hampshire countryside
  • Within easy reach of both London and the south coast
  • Showers, toilets, bike hire and clear area for play

As little environmental impact as poss is the name of the game at Hampshire's Cedar Valley: this is a simple site for those who like camping deep in countryside but who still like their comforts such as showers, toilets and wash basins.

Cedar Valley is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, set deep in scenic Hampshire countryside but within easy reach of both London and the south coast. The South Downs Way is nearby for hikes.

Pitches at Cedar Valley are in a large grassy field near Bereleigh House, where you can roam the field and finding just the perfect place. There's also a designated mown area where kids can play football, fly kites and generally muck around to their little hearts' content: you might find they don't want to leaf...

    We liked the open fields
The fact that it is fairly quiet after 11pm
That we can have open fires

    Disliked:

The toilets - they are okay but they often run out of loo roll and the bins weren't emptied enough in my view
In the showers, it will be really handy to have a small rack/chair to put your clothes on as well as in the shower itself to put soap etc on.

Quiet and simple site. Toilets clean and nice field with areas for a camp fire.
Great location for exploring Hampshire and South Downs. Site manager took time to ensure we were happy and could contact him but was not intrusive.
Had the option to camp in the Paddock or the Meadow. We chose the Paddock.

    Disliked:

If the site had been full the washing up area and toilets would probably be a bit busy and more messy but when we were there it was fairly quiet but with enough people to feel friendly.

Would have been great to have hot water at the washing up station but we got round that by using our kettle.

The tranquility and beauty of the area.

    Disliked:

The piles of rubbish and lack of cleanliness in the shower block. There was a large group on the second night making so much noise. Did not sleep until 3 a.m. as a result. I eventually texted the number given but nothing was done. Very overpriced for what it was given the level of service.

Camping at Cedar Valley
We have 2 Campsites at Cedar Valley. The Paddock and The Meadow.

The Paddock
Enter through the main entrance to Cedar Valley signposted with green Cedar Valley signs.
Drive 300m down the farm track turn right into the campsite. Go ahead and pitch around the edge of the field.

The Meadow
The Meadow is not located through the Cedar Valley entrance!
If you are coming from the A272 you need to look out for the green Meadow sign on the right about 200m before the entrance to Cedar Valley. A sharp right turn and down a little steep slope, 100m and turn right into the campsite.
From East Meon please continue 100m past the Cedar Valley entrance and turn left down a little steep slope, 100m and turn right into the campsite.

Local attractions

Hire a bike from the Cedar Valley team and off you go: the site has six good strong mountain bikes (and helmets) which can be hired by the day at reception. Several decent tracks are on the estate itself or you can pedal off around the area's many lanes and bike routes.

If trotting's more your thing, ask the Cedar Valley team about the pony rides available in the surrounding countryside: both experienced and amateur riders can take their pick from three-hour rides through first-class woodland, or around the area's cross-country course.

More of a foot-based wanderer? Many circular walks are mapped out in the area so you can wander off to see where your feets might take you. The South Downs Way is close by: try the walk from Petersfield to Cocking, via Nursted Copse and Harting Down.
