  • A small jewel set in an old apple orchard
  • Gypsy bow tops cosy interiors each with private individual pitches
  • A small, peaceful site with a relaxed atmosphere

Bouncers Farm has been home to the Bishop family for three generations. Originally it was a commercial orchard but now there are not many apple trees left but several farm animals consisting of sheep, geese, pigs, chickens and horses to name but a few.

The campsite is set amongst apple trees. With the coast and its many little-known beaches just four miles away, it's an unusual and nourishing escape from the city.

For those who feel like trying something different, how about a pony carriage drive through the country lanes? This can be arranged on site at a small extra cost. With the coast and its many little-known beaches just four miles away and central London an hour away by train, it's an unusual and easy escape.

Bouncers Farm Campsite operates as a low impact environmental site. There is no electricity on site. The shower has a log burning water heater and is very efficient on wood consumption. Cooking is done over open fires (weather permitting).

The site was very idyllic and the caravan was clean, comfortable and cosy.

We had originally booked Sweet Pea caravan but when we arrived we were given another caravan without an explanation until we challenged the owner of the site. The caravan, Tansi we were given was lovely but a little smaller than the original caravan booked.

Shower was cold on the last morning.

Felt there could have been a bit more space between the caravans.

Had to take own rubbish as there was no facilities to dispose of it on site. Finding a place to dispose of rubbish was difficult. Feel that the price charged for renting a caravan should include a rubbish bin on site.

We arrived a couple of hours earlier than the official booking in time to which we were asked to come back at the right time in what we felt was quite an unwelcoming manner.

There are two options from the M25:
- from the south (Dartford Tunnel), either take the exit for the A13 and A130, or the exit for the A12 (direction Chelmsford / Colchester)
- from the north, exit the M25 at the A12 for Chelmsford / Colchester
Then follow directions for Hatfield Peverel. At the T-junction, turn left and follow the road through the village. Turn right and follow the B1019 Maldon Road to Langford. At Langford Church turn left into Langford / Witham Road. Around one mile away on the right, turn into Wickham Hall Lane, a single-track lane. Bouncers Farm is about ¼ mile up the lane on the left. Please take care when driving along this lane: it is narrow with a few passing places.

From the north (Ipswich direction)
From the A12 (Kelvedon exit), follow the slip road to the T-junction and turn right. Follow the road over the hump-back bridge, past the turning on the left and keep the brick wall on the left-hand side. About ¼ mile go right signposted Little Braxted. Keep going straight, with The Green Man pub on your right. Then take the first right - Carters Lane (safest way). At the T-junction turn right and follow the road to Cross Road (Snows Corner). Go straight over to Church Road.

Directions from Snows Corner
