- The Secret Campsite is a peaceful, tents only campsite
- For nature lovers, real campers and their families
- Large and secluded pitches with with their own camp fire pit
The Secret Campsite (Lewes) is one of The Secret Campsites, a collection of Real Camping and Wild Glamping sites focused on nature, peace and space.
The site is a small tent only campsite 5 miles north of Lewes in East Sussex. We have very large pitches and we allow campfires. The camping meadow is surrounded by ancient woodland filled with an abundance of wildlife and visitors often see kestrels, owls and deer amongst a huge variety of other species including Glow worms in July and August.
Our camping meadow is kept car and dog free to allow children to roam and explore safely. We provide trolleys to transport your belongings into the camping field, which is just a couple of minutes from the car park. We have a quiet time after 10 pm to allow for the sounds of wildlife to fill the site. We offer hot showers, new flushing toilets and covered washing-up facilities. There is a great farm shop 5 minutes’ walk away and lots of pubs nearby catering for a range of tastes and budgets.
We offer a secluded location in a beautiful setting with great access to cycling, walking and exploring the South Downs. It is a perfect base to explore Sussex and visit local beaches, historical houses and gardens and enjoy the vibrant and historic town of Lewes.
We also have two secret shelters, The Treetent and Gridshell. These are both fantastic quirky accommodation options for your stay in our beautiful site. Both of these beautiful shelters have been designed by local inventor and designer Jason Thawley and the Tree Tent was even featured on George Clarkes Amazing Spaces.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
