Wimbles Farm offers riverside camping set deep in the Sussex countryside. Our site has two camping areas, each with their own firepit.
Why not try a unique private camping experience with friends or family in a quiet, secluded flower meadow beside the river or lake? We offer camping for people who want to experience the great outdoors by themselves and who maybe secretly want to do a little Ray Mears-ing about.
We provide fresh drinking water, a compost toilet, solar shower, seasonal organic produce from the farm, a wheelbarrow to move equipment, a barbecue grid to go over the firepit. Sustainably coppiced wood for your fire can be purchased to make a perfect evening under the stars.
This unusual camping experience is perfect for those who want to be well away from busy campsites and enjoy the peace of the countryside.
Guests can get fishing instruction from the site owner at £10 per hour for a group of three people, including tuition and hire of equipment. This can be booked on arrival. The normal fishing charges are £20 per person per day from 10am till 4pm including a maximum of three pegs. Your fishing equipment must be sterilised otherwise you will need to hire it from us. Our lake is naturally stocked with carp, bream, perch, pike, tench, rudd and roach, and no licence to fish is required.
Enjoy safe family cycling along the Cuckoo Trail, fishing or walking. There are two good pubs within walking distance offering good food and beer.
We are about 20 minutes' drive from the coast and just over an hour's bike ride to the South Downs National Park.
Camping near Heathfield, East Sussex provides you with a shopping opportunity in a lively market town with one of the best butchers and bakers in the area.

Great couple of days in the Shephards Hut with my lads 27 May 2015

From the manager...
We feel there was ambiguity between Dog friendly camping, and the Shepherds hut listing, which did not clearly state that dogs were not allowed inside it. This has now been clarified on the listing, however well behaved dogs may still come so long as they are tethered outside the hut or kept in the car.
Wood for Fire pits and Charcoal are extras priced and listed on Pitchup.com booking form, so the cost should be no surprise to the guests who did not select these options at booking, and helped themselves without asking or telling me, and breakages of course should be paid for.
These guests had a good time ,and their daughter really appreciated the mornings and afternoons I spent with her grooming the donkeys, feeding the chickens and collecting eggs.
The guests left the hut in a mess ,and have not paid the extra cost of cleaning up after the dog, or for extras they took, or the breakage, and I'm not persuing it, time to move on to better things!

Use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together when booking multiple pitches: the campsite or park will try to grant your request.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
