  • Cuckoo Trail walking and cycling two minutes' drive away
  • Additional toilet block with disabled room and underfloor heating
What a handsome site – and what a handy location. Have yourself a holiday at Horam Manor Country Park in East Sussex for a peaceful and roomy setting as well as proximity to walking and biking paths, fishing, horse riding, tennis and golf – and quite a bit more on and off site. A family-run and friendly park on a manor estate, Horam Manor is only a couple of minutes by car from the Cuckoo Trail, the scenic 14-mile path trail along the old Cuckoo Line railway track from Heathfield to Eastbourne Park. Previous guests have esteemed this site most highly for the friendly and helpful approach of its family team, its modern and immaculately kept amenities, and its range of activities and leisure facilities for guests young and old. Activities and family events are organised throughout the season; fishing, woodland walks, nature trails and horse riding are available around the estate; and play areas are on site and in the adjacent village. The friendly welcome extends to family friends too, with a dog walking area close by and a dog shower and dog water bowls thoughtfully added around the grounds. As you might expect, the amenities are also excellently thought out: there are two toilet blocks (one of which has underfloor heating), spacious showers, private wash cubicles and a fully equipped disabled room. A laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, both coin-operated, is also available to guests. The park has a small grocery shop selling basics such as milk, sweets, ice creams and drinks; it also stocks local produce such as jams. More shops and a pub are in Horam, a few minutes' stroll away. And if you're here for the seaside, beaches at Eastbourne and Lewes are within half an hour; Brighton is within 45 minutes and famed seaside towns such as Rye and Hastings are 30 to 45 minutes from the site. Local buses serve all major towns in the area.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: A lovely site and very friendly welcome (even though we arrived late). The site was very clean, lovely shower / toilet block with hot water and a free hairdryer!

Disliked: We had to unpadlock the gate each time we went in/out, but I appreciate that this is also good from a security point of view. Also the guy would hear the van and came out to unlock it for us, so it wasn't really a pain. No pub within walking distance so the only place to eat was a fish and chip shop.

From the manager: Hi Julia. Thank you for your lovely review. Unfortunately, miscreants venturing onto sites means we have to be a little more vigilant and hope that the minor measures are a deterrent. That said, we appreciate the acknowledgement that we try to make the measures as easy to manoeuvre as possible by being there for entries / exits. Horam is particularly rural, but Heathfield and Hailsham have a wealth of eateries and pubs to choose from. Thanks very much for the review, and we hope to see you again soon.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Toilets and site kept clean and tidy.

Disliked: Ground although on a hard standing pitch, was very soggy to reach electric and water access points. Sticking to any footwear. Huge potholes on entering the lane to site.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Perfectly clean and smart facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Generally good.

Disliked: The surrounding 'Country Park' is very faded and in need of reinvestment. It was clearly very smart at some point many years ago. When we visited there were probably less than 25 units on site. When full, I would be concerned that the facilities would cope with numbers.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Very welcoming staff who were really friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Site was lovely and clean, the toilet block was spotless and the showers were hot, with adjustable temperature and constant running which is a real luxury, a nice touch with a good quality hairdryer installed in the toilet block. Site was very quiet at the time of my stay, but that was a midweek in March. Opted for the sensible hard standing pitch due to the amount of rain we have had, this was very well drained and level. Great location to go off cycling from onto the Cuckoo trail which is only a couple of minutes ride from the site.
