General

  • Two miles from the beach at Bexhill-on-Sea
  • Family-friendly site with indoor and outdoor play areas
  • Within easy reach of the historic sites of 1066 Country

Ditch the wheels and settle down for a Sussex seaside and heritage stay at award-winning and colourful Chestnut Meadow Camping & Caravan Park, on the outskirts of the seaside town of Bexhill-on-Sea. A bus stop is right in front of the site so you can get around without having to drive: the beach is a couple of miles away.

Chestnut Meadow is in the historic part of green and pleasant England known as 1066 Country, so called after the 11th-century Battle of Hastings and the introduction of Norman rule into the land (if these facts make the kids yawn, they'll probably be gorily interested instead in how Harold died). Battle Abbey, Herstmonceux Castle and Bodiam Castle are nearby to explore the area's history, all reachable via local cycle routes.

A family-friendly site, Chestnut Meadow has a playground, a games hall, plenty of room to play, and a modern, heated shower block including a parent and baby washroom. There's also free wifi, a small shop and a launderette.

A range of eco-friendly initiatives have been introduced on site, including recycling points, wildlife areas and the use of recycled materials where possible.

Great location with easy access to Battle, Bexhill on Sea beach and 30 mins from Eastbourne. Clean, well maintained site with fabulous toilet black lots of hot water and super showers. We enjoyed the family feel and it was great to see the children play together on their scookers and bikes. No noise at night was an added bonus. Best camp site so far for us and good to have the on site shop a day friendly customer service. We will be back.

This is a fantastic site, well set out, modern facilities which are kept clean, plenty of hot water, friendly helpful staff and all in all one of the best camping/touring sites I have had the pleasure to stay at. I was particularly impressed with the way the site has been planned with a large central grassed area where children can play safely, barbecues are allowed tho not open fires. Anyone with a young family do not hesitate to stay here it's perfect.

Fantastic non commercial site run by caravanners who understand what people want.
Probably the best non com. site I have stayed at in over 30yrs of caravanning.
Large manicured pitches and spotless/clean shower/toilet block.
Ulenah and Andy and the rest of the extremely helpful and caring staff are a credit to the industry.
Highly recommended and looking forward to returning in the next 18 mths or sooner.
Smack in the middle of many places to visit with nice pubs and shops nearby.
