You know us, we’re a sucker for a place with a bit of family heritage, and if you’re the same, look no further than Claylands Caravan Park. The Robinsons have owned Claylands for more than 50 years, when it was a simple 14-acre farm. Since then, it’s been transformed into a perfectly landscaped holiday park, while keeping an edge of wilderness that campers and caravanners love.
Sitting on the meandering banks of the River Wyre, surrounded by more than 5000 indigenous trees, one thing you’re sure to wind up doing is looking out for the area’s more permanent residents, from squirrels to foxes, deer to rabbits, and twitchers - keep a beady eye open for the 85 different species overhead too.
Aside from the carefully pruned hedges, shrubs and trees on site, you’ll find all manner of amenities sprouting up to make your stay all the more fruitful. Planted close to the pitches is a free and modern loo and shower block, a well-equipped laundry room with two washers and two dryers (coin-operated), and washing-up facilities to have your crockery shining, all of which are open 24 hours and kept spotless. The grass gets greener still - drinking water taps and waste water disposal points are placed around the park for your convenience too.
Avid anglers will be hooked at Claylands as they cast a line into the park’s four well-stocked and very well-maintained fishing ponds. Abundant with roach, carp and tench, the scale of catches to be had here is any-fin but ordinary...brill-iant in fact. Too many fish puns? Gillty. Really though, the site’s efforts to maintain these ponds is very impressive and each will provide hours of enjoyment and relaxation. A charge of £6 per person per day is in place to fish at Claylands and remember to bring your own licence from the post office, as well as all your own equipment.
Other facilities on site include a handy shop for the essentials, a kids' adventure playground to make grownups green with envy, and an indoor pool table. Light snacks and home-cooked meals can be wolfed down at Stepping Stones Riverside Bar and Restaurant, just adjacent to the park (open Tuesday-Sunday), which even has a takeaway service. With pretty views from inside the restaurant and a spacious green garden for dining outside, Stepping Stones welcomes guests all year round.

It's now possible to make group bookings on Pitchup.com for up to 30 adults and 30 children.
As long as the 'one unit per pitch' rule is not highlighted on the pitch type information (please check this before completing your booking), you will be able to pitch your tents together on one booking.
If you are not satisfied with the results generated, try breaking your booking down for more options. For example, if you're a group of 10, enter five people for your initial search and book two pitches. Use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together when booking multiple pitches or accommodation units: the campsite or park will try to grant your request.
Before booking, please check the listing page for any group restrictions. These normally appear in a section titled 'Please note'. Please also check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit - especially for a large party - is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
